#1753410 [Suggestion] Status: Hiatus

Posted by Cake-kun on 19 June 2016 - 02:18 AM

This is for series' like Bastard, Black Yome ni Yoroshiku, Yotsubato!, and et cetera

Some series' that just stopped updating without any formal explanation on discontinuation should be marked as such (since it's neither "ongoing" nor "complete"), because there's no ongoing available chapters available to call this series "ongoing" nor "complete".

This should be only used for the series' that has been on hiatus for more than 4 monthes or 9 issue worth, whichever comes first.

Ideally, series' that later has source to prove that it has been cancelled should be updated as. I personally think this will help de-clutter some series' being marked as "ongoing".

#1650662 Batoto becoming registered only?

Posted by Cake-kun on 21 October 2015 - 03:47 AM

As a group of a bandits who operated in shadier side of the certain imageboard, I am actually absolutely okay with Batoto going private.

We were doing releases for our fun. I don't want someone else to control where we have that fun. When someone takes the stuff and do that, I get very upset. I been around, I did enough; I had people steal translations from me. I want my group to enjoy what they're doing. I am not, and have never been, okay with people taking my group's work.

Only site I authorize is Batoto. Ever. It will remain that way forever. And for that, I support privatization of some of the chapter; In fact, I want my groups' work to be few that will be strictly members' only, which will hinder crawlers and people who steal other people's hard work and try to make money from it. For 10+ years I been in scanlation scene; money was never throughly concern with me, and I could've shoved up ads on our sites too. We didn't. We don't need it. And I won't start doing it any time soon, unless 10$ a month becomes too hard for me eventually, and that won't be for a long time.

tl;dr, it's sad it has to go that way, but we are really not losing anything in the first place; Lot of the readers that, quiet literally, stole from Batoto, also have login system anyways to promote their activity, so it makes absolutely no difference at this point. For me, some people's fun < my group's fun. We can just stop scanlating, and that's the end. I don't want us to end service that way.

#1332917 Japanese Government to Start Anti-Anime/Manga Piracy Operation Next Month

Posted by Cake-kun on 30 July 2014 - 04:13 PM

Yeah but how is that any different than what shipping does? Many people view things that were never intended to begin with, so it doesn't even really make a difference, does it? I say this as a comic artist. If someone translated my work into another language, and didn't do everything right, it is still less insulting than someone basically saying my work wasn't good enough to begin with that they had to make up all this other stuff that never even happened. There's different levels to fanfiction, but some of them really are quite insulting. It's also purely impossible to control how someone else interprets your work. Once it's out there, you have no more control over it.

precisely my point. Yet lot of people only sees the work as a tool to make money, and this resulted in what we have now;

everybody sounds the same
commercialize the game

#1282606 New status: Locked

Posted by Cake-kun on 14 June 2014 - 01:15 PM

I been thinking.

lot of manga has "open" status, even though it is locked, and will never get on here any time soon. But when you search them, they still show up as "ongoing" which I heavily feel as misleading.

I think having new status icon for this would be best. Maybe red closed book? I think it will also be easier versus having comic synopsis cluttered with **LOCKED DO NO UPLOAD** messages.

or that's my opinion. I'm also aware I may not be the first to request this.

#1256704 Large chapter being skipped for Gokukoku No Brynhildr

Posted by Cake-kun on 22 May 2014 - 02:29 PM

Sometimes we trans from middle because that's what we have.

I'm not going to say right in your face things like "be grateful someone's doing it anyways" but that is the simple truth. Translation team works with what they have, and certainly, it's not adequate or even close to perfect. Typos, missing chapter, or even seeing it being dropped is absolutely normal. Don't fret about it. Always be thankful, ask nicely maybe we can all get along etc.

#1215606 Draft for Comments Section Guidelines - Post your Feedback!

maffa, because it's a pain to scroll through these walls of text as it is when you're reading something.Generally people look into comments for some short notes on recent chapters or something along those lines. This is what comments are meant for. For long discussions there are forums.

yes, but if we were going to do that, do we really need the Discussion section, then?

Hell, I sincerely think most doesn't even know the difference, still to this point.

Well, I do understand, really I do, but as I've mentioned in.......geez, maybe it wasn't this thread, this has been going on for a couple of days now.........well, bottom line is it's always been that "comments" was for brief comments and observations while "forums" was for......well just as much as you care to write and just about whatever you want to say. And yeah, that stuff (those particular rules) were there.

I mean, hey, it's not really a big deal.......nobody's getting banned.......but yeah, rules are rules, and it's a members duty to know the rules just like it's a citizen's duty to know the laws of the land. Nobody's gonna get forgiven trying the "I didn't know it was illegal!!"  defense...........trust me.  :D

now I'm confused. If we aren't allowed to discuss releases on comment section, where were we supposed to?

I propose post editing power instead of complete deletion. It's really pain in the butt when I write stuff relating to discussion and it gets axed without a second thought. And it's not like I can recover the deleted post.

Please, think about those who's actually not trolling.

I go in through the manga
On the manga front page I click "create topic"
Then I get the error.

Sorry, we couldn't find that!

Need Help?

edit: hmm, so possibly a bug?

edit 2: I went into Dousei Recipe, with out any threads too; seems like it's possibly forum-related bug.

#1165312 Official Mobile Manga Reading App

Posted by Cake-kun on 18 March 2014 - 12:10 PM

I can't say about the phones, but when I get on tablet I just get on regular/full site. And loads fine. Both AndroidOS and iOS.

Only difference I suppose is I don't run AdBlock when I'm in my home; when I'm outside I have to since bandwidth is limited unfortunately (and thus doesn't help the site)

I do would like ad-supported app that is less clunky to use then all the ones provided by whatever OS and devs it is. Call me vanilla fag, but I don't want much. Just exact same feature as Batoto site.

Also, would be nice if we can upload comics using it, later, but that's down in the future I think.
