If you've tried, tried again, and it still seems impossible, maybe it is. Likewise some people are like brick walls. Talk to them, show them evidence, tell them compelling anecdotes, appeal to their "better nature", show them logical proof, it doesn't matter. Bash them all you want and still you're the only one who it hurts.

Dreamed I caught a child molester in the act, being serviced by a coerced member of a middle school swim team. I overpowered him. Called for rope. Tied him up and waited for the police to arrive.  (Was at their pool during practice, so there was rope around and willing people to fetch it.)  Also (selfishly) took the first on-site police interview--since I didn't need a lawyer or parents present--and left by a back road before the arriving press had time to shout questions at me.

Joked later with friends/family that it was the first time I'd tied someone up for a constructive purpose. :)

#1608312 Mama Kat's Kreations

Posted by Maia on 25 June 2015 - 04:51 AM

Welcome to:

front%20a_zpsqvjozqmo.png

We are a new Colorado, USA based clothing creation business. We take pre-designed clothes and re-create them into awesome new outfits ranging from nearly any style that you can think of. All of the outfits are hand crafted, save for the base materials of some of them, and aside from named cosplay outfits, all designs are original creations.

The purpose of this thread is to show you those outfits and the projects we have in store. We will take you through guided tours of the creation processes through pictures, and perhaps, in time, videos as well. We also do graphic design, but we don't have any of our work, save for the card you see above, available, but we're hoping to get that up and running soon so we can share it with you too!

So, lets get this show on the road, shall we? Hee hee, I'm so excited to show all of you awesome potatoes these outfits!

Spoiler

One of the neat facts about the outfits is that we gather most of the materials from thrift stores and places of that nature and recreate them into the awesomeness we have to show you now. Take this skirt for example. The original skirt was the bottom layer you see. We took that skirt, and started the process of adding the Steampunk design you see. The black and red lace drop skirt is the remnants of a different skirt that was gathered and pinned by lace bows with golden buttons. The gathered train in the back of the skirt was, in fact, a decorative curtain sewn in a crinkle patterns and gathered up and supported by a small sewn-in soft pillow, which clasps behind the skirt.

The roses began as pure white, which Mama Kat, my mom, painted gold before adding the black and crimson ribbons to tie them to the gold cogwheels.

Spoiler

Next we have an awesome winter coat that is highly versatile in its design. The capelet is the outer layer of a former skirt. The neckband is three different ribbons sewn together to create the band.On the bustle train we have the remnants of a silk nightgown, a cotton skirt and the front portion of an Indian tunic with the top of the bustle being the top neckline of the tunic. The bustle is fully detachable to use in other outfit possibilities. The cravat is made from the sleeves of a wedding dress and the front part of the silk nightgown used on the bustle piece., fully detachable as well The teardrops at the base of the coat are removed from the same skirt used for the capelet and hand stitched onto the coat. Three smaller drops are sewn onto the cuff of each sleeve.

Spoiler

To accent the coat is a pair of beautiful gloves. The base of the gloves was a plain black pair of velvet gloves. The remnants of the wedding dress sleeve and the remnants of the nightgown with embellishments are sewn onto each glove to complete the set.

Spoiler

Next up are a few dashing headpieces delightfully decorated for great styles!

The first hat, of course is a standard dome top hat decorated with roman numeral pins around the top, an old pocket watch, a set of hand crafted goggles, made by Mama Kat herself, an old steam gauge and brass fittings on the right side, and upon the left side of the hat there is a functional antique postage scale.

The second is a hairpiece for an Autumn Witch Halloween costume.

The final is a fully hand crafted 1920's style flapper headband.

The third hat

Spoiler

So for now, we shall leave you with this little teaser to see what you think. See if you get the itch to see more of these awesome works of art!

Enjoy my friends!!!! Hope to hear your feedback!!!

I MET THE SINGER OF GHIBLI's SPIRITED AWAY's theme song!!!

HOOOOOOOLY SHIT. So basically, my dad told me a week ago that there was going to be 2 celebrities coming into the city from Japan and that I was going to go out and have dinner with them tonight, and give them a tour the following day. I said alright. Though we didn't know who the celebrities were and it seemed like they were "eh" people. I've been busy and stressed out over work this week and I had completely forgotten about the whole thing and that it was going to be this weekend. I over-panicked and I ended up having my mum tell my dad that I couldn't make it...

I still went to dinner tonight and we had a long talk over life in Vietnam and Vietnamese and Japanese culture. Before I went my dad told me the name of the celebrity (the other person was just her friend.) I did a quick google search of her name and her stage name. But it seemed I got the ー and the 〜 mixed up (they honestly don't have a difference). In the end the only thing I knew was her name and that my dad said she was a regional radio host, and at times a DJ. Still the night followed through. It was fun talking to them and it was until when we were on the way back to their taxi preparing for a farewell. I was telling them that I had learnt quite a lot about Japanese culture with manga and anime in Japan. She asked me about movies and music in Japan and I explained that I follow Ghibli works mainly. Then she suddenly told asked me about Spirited Away and then told me she sang that and even did tours around the world...

WHAT

THE

FUCK?

Spoiler

Was this possible? Was she messing with me? How do I not know her? We got to their hotel and she told us to wait for a bit. She came down and brought us gifts!! (Just a part of japanese customs..) ..still I GOT GIFTS FROM SOMEONE WITH AFFILIATIONS TO GHIBLI! I had taken a photo with her before but I wanted my own photo with her. Also, thank god I brought a pen and my mini notebook. I got her AUTOGRAPH!!! I came home and whipped out a proper information on her and she was there.

BEST FUCKING DAY EVER.

thank you 2015.

Update: I have finished that piece of shit essay along with half of another essay. I am going to meet them and take them around the city later today. I just only slept for 2 and a half hours in the past 24hours, because now I had need to study with my French tutor. In the mean During the time of my absence, my dad will be taking had taken them around up until 3. I'll probably switch with him from there.

Update 2: SO, my dad called me later in the day and said that they were tired so plans are cancelled...

Update 3: They called me back! I went for my first spa-styled massage with them. That shit is intense as fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. Anyway less about me more about them. My dad had to ditch cuz of other businesses and I had jumped in. After the whole massage and everything I took them around town and translated for them etc. But the problem was that some roads were blocked due to the 5 year long construction that they've started recently and it just had to be around where I was going to take them. We got lost and stuff happened and through all that my whole starstruck feelings and stuff was just going away. I mean they were just people and they're here to relax. Later we had french expensive cuisine and I was all woahhhhhhh~~ We had a nice long chat whilst enjoying our dinner but I kinda felt bad cuz they were dressed in just tshirts and pants and it was those kind of super high fashion restaurants. I'd never been there before and they picked it out of their guide book just for the foie gras. Once we finished and paid we were going to leave, but she saw the white grand piano in the center and I had no idea what was going to follow.. She asked the waiter if she can play and they kindly turned off the lounge music and prepared the seat for her. She sat down and she played her song from Spirited Away. My heart stopped for an instance. I couldnt believe she was doing this, right then. Suddenly all that calm well-mannered-for-the-fancy-restaurant me just disappeared. I was so overwhlemed with emotions I couldn't scream, I wanted to. My heart was pounding so hard, I was so flustered I ddin't know what to do. I asked for permission of course but I recorded then took a video and took a photo. But I didn't know which to do so I had incomplete recordings. She continued playing other songs too of course. There was a large Japanese family eating at the restaurant too and they started approaching us. The kids from the group was so excited and they basically hogged up my guest  (- 3 -) and made her play different Ghibli songs. (SEE, Ghibli is loved by all!) Even the parents got excited. As the kids mentioned songs to her, she didn't remember how it went and sang out the tune for her. Then I started joining and started singing with her accompanying me on the piano.

OMGWTF

Spoiler

We ended up with a non-ghibli song and it was amazing - well mostly her piano. I can't sing alone in front of an audience well but her presence did something and I don't think it turned out too bad. Ay well, all in all, it was a fantastic experience <3 I guess I know now how hardcore I am of a fangirl for ghibli :3

Unlike last month, even though I was busy, I still have the time to come here and change my song of the day and post anywhere in the forums but now… [sigh] I feel exhausted every day and I’ve taken my precious best friend, sleep, as my enemy for now. I can still sleep but not for too long because I tend to oversleep really, really bad.

Last Saturday, I fed 40 people with my Fetuccine Ala Carbonara recipe. Sadly, I wasn’t able to take a picture after cooking/delivering it because I had to go to the university to watch my friend compete in their college singing competition. He asked me help to coach/train him a week before the competition. He did great during the performance and everyone knew after he sang that he’ll get through the elimination round but he didn’t. It was a huge disappointment for me. Not towards him but towards the judges. It was just so obvious that he’ll make it but I don’t know what happened. He’s sad but he’s pretending he’s fine. The good thing though is he’s still ready to fight. Haha. He’ll join the singing competition in the upcoming 5-day foundation day celebration and he wants me to join. I told him I won’t be joining because I have a contract that I’ll be the one to talk with the people who’ll participate for the car show and I am to play Game of the Generals, those are all for the foundation day on January next year. But I’ll see to it that he’ll win.

So! This week, we have a three-day college days celebration and I am in some competitions because I was thrown there (I don’t like it at first but it turned kind of okay since this is my last year in university). Today, I stood as a coach/trainer for my classmate for table tennis and during the afternoon, my group mates and I had a shooting for Advertising Production subject so I might be able to sleep a little bit. Tomorrow, I’ll wake up at 4 AM for warm up. I’ll play badminton (singles) at 9 and in the afternoon, we’ll continue the shooting for the Advertising Production subject. On Wednesday, I’ll lead a team for the Human Chess event (which is supposed to be our class president’s job but he passed it on to me because he said I have experience in playing chess. Also, I’ll probably post pictures on Wednesday or Thursday about the events I participated in) and if I still have time after that, I’ll join my thesis mates at a meeting in the afternoon with the university heads for our study.

After our last defense (September 13, Saturday), we started with some revisions and we’re still working on them. Were done on the other parts but we still review them  to see if there’s still something missing because we’re making sure that we’ll never have to re-defend our thesis. We were just asked to provide the panelist a copy of our thesis and we’ll discuss it with them, one by one. And the remaining days will be spent for other subjects.

Hectic. I am going through hell and I feel like I am doing these things just for the sake of finishing them, haha. Partially, maybe, but I know I am still ready to go. I am only waiting for this semester to end which is just less than two weeks from now and I’ll finally have all the time of watching the season three of Game of Thrones (already in episode 2) and read the book of Laurie Mylroie called The War Against America which is about Saddam Hussein and the World Trade Center Attacks and which was previously published as The Study of Revenge. Kind of late reading this, I know, but it’s interesting to me. All I know about this thing is that the WTC, was bombed by Hussein, nothing else. (I was too young to know things like that). I’ll also have all the time of playing with my double peds, taking random photos, playing real chess, posting here, skateboarding, and be together again with my best friend, sleep.
