It's always nice to discover new manga.

So how about everyone recommends a manga that is somehow related to kingdom. Is it semi-historical? Is it war heavy? Is the setting china, perhaps in ancient times?

I'll get the ball rolling. I just recently discovered the manhwa Feng Shen Ji. It is about the last prince of the Shang dynastys war against the Gods who ended the Shang Dynasty rule. It is fully colored, the action is orgasmic and the plot moves on effortlessly. It's really hard not to binge read it.

It is not perfect, the main character can be an arrogant asshole, sometimes the plot is predictable, but a few times it wtf's in your face.

I really like the romance since it's resolved by his arranged marriage a few chapters in. From there on their relationships develops.

It is scanlated by easygoing scans so i recommend you read it at their site: http://readonline.egscans.org/Feng_Shen_Ji

batoto has split it up into part 1 http://vatoto.com/comic/_/comics/feng-shen-ji-r3366 and part 2 http://vatoto.com/comic/_/comics/feng-shen-ji-ii-r8880

Aside from those already mentioned, I also recommend Basara (http://vatoto.com/comic/_/comics/basara-r305).

Though the setting's actually a thousand years after present Japan, Basara somehow has a historic feel to it. It's an interesting exploration of warfare and politics, and human relations in general.

The art takes a little getting used to, but at some point it stops being weird and becomes one of the most breathtaking manga drawing styles you'll ever see.

The story's one of those greats where, after completing the manga, you realize everything was going to happen the way it happened from the very start, but you never think it when you're still reading because you're too caught up in the narrative. This is mostly because of the great characters. Action, development, romance, tragedy, hope, Basara has it all.

Really, the only reason you shouldn't read Basara is if you have an exam coming up, because you'd be too addicted to the manga to study properly. Otherwise, do enjoy. I read it years ago, and I still remember it fondly from time to time.

Historie.

The battles aren't in the scale of Kingdom but still interesting none-the-less and more on a strategic standpoint. Summary: "Historie follows the life of Eumenes, a boy with strategic talent who grows up to serve as a secretary and general under Alexander the Great. Historie includes characters such as Aristotle and King Philip II of Macedon and begins around 343 BC, which was a time of Macedonian expansion."

There's Sangokushi - a manga adaptation of Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I haven't gotten around to reading it yet but it's currently at chapter 255 (translated) so that tells you something. There's also Date Masamune (Yokoyama MItsuteru), another manga I have yet to read but looks interesting.

Yeah, actually i'm a big fan of Historie, i've been trying to push it on friends, and people i know through youtube, but it's kind of a hard sell until Thrax's war which doesn't start until chapter 12.

Just like Kingdom, we know the main character is gonna have a tragic end, unless the mangaka wanna go full fiction.

Fiction based on turkey vs byzantine era. It is more on the political side compared to your normal war manga, i really recommend it

Its a bit early but "The Heroic Legend of Arslan" has certainly the potential to be included in this list.

While most people will probably attribute it to its quite famous Mangaka, i'd like to divert some attention to its original author Yoshiki Tanaka, the man who wrote the Legends of the Galactic Heroes novels

(And if you haven't seen the Anime of that, then what the Hell are you doing here?)

Ares is an epic one! The art wasn't the best and it's a pretty predictable but I thoroughly enjoyed it. One of the few I've reread. Good comedy, action is great, and the personal conflicts in the story really got me attached to it.

If Shin were super smart and lived in a world of less black and white, friend and foe (and female) the comic might look something like this. http://vatoto.com/comic/_/comics/choukakou-r9765 Well worth reading. (better then kingdom IMO)

If kingdom was slightly more fantasy based it might look something like this http://vatoto.com/comic/_/comics/feng-shen-ji-ii-r8880

If Shin were more interested in peace and saving lives http://vatoto.com/comic/_/comics/seiketsu-no-haguruma-r3793

And http://vatoto.com/comic/_/comics/freaks-squeele-r2365 just because it's like one of the best comics ever. (though nothing like kingdom)

Hmmm, that's about half the list of "action" tag manga that I found for you people, so that you don't have to go look yourselves.  I think I'll finish it at a later date.  I don't think I've ever copy pasted this much in my life! :)  I search through the entire "action" list here on Batato, and elsewhere, and here are some of the manga's I found to be really decent, to really really good.  Most are fairly lengthy, and are either being updated decently well, or are completed. Gah, only at K!  L through Z is going to be brutal.

EDIT: Part two

Hooo, here's part 2.  It contains 1) Decent to good manga  2) Update decently, complete, or really long, yet incomplete 3) "action" tag 4) Within the topic of "Recommendations".         Doing it mostly because I've searched through lists on end, and still do, and I would like to let the casual reader enjoy things that I've found.  One technique is to find a manga you really like, then click on the Scanlator group, and you're more than likely to find a couple manga that you'll enjoy.  Here it is:

Spoiler

Manga's you'll have to read elsewhere:...  Osu Karatebu, Sprite, sabu to ichi torimonohikae, aoki hagane no arpeggio, chronicles of the cursed sword, Darren Shan (really good), tenkyuugi, katenkou yuugi, reimei no arcana, area D, cesare, last ranker be the lsat one, arslan senki, shruba, trinity blood, flow, Brave 10.

I did leave out a fair amount of manga that a lot of people like, like magi or naruto, or bleach, or vinland saga.  There are many other "long ch." manga's "action" tagged out there, and you're welcome to find them yourselves! :)  I didn't include them because i didn't want to manually input them from my list on my i-pod to the computer, that'd take way to much time!!!  And no I have not read all of this material, a good 1/7 of it is unread by me, I'm holding off so that I can read a good chunk at one time.  Well, I type in the Forum "recommendations" and Portgas D. Itachi, your list is at the top / most recent, so here I am fulfilling the role of recommender to make everyones life easier / more enjoyable.

Now all I can do now is hope  to be enlightened by everyone and anyone who reads this by them posting a manga of substantial substance  which I have never read before.  Cheers.

Side note: (did this all while listening to remixed pokemon music, try GlitchxCity if you're interested when you're on youtube)
