It's not easy. The general octave my voice is at is already low and rumbly. I sound very rough. If I lower the pitch, the low notes go lower than I can go for singing, if I were to make the song transition as smooth as the original. Also, I do not have good control over my notes anymore, because of the voice break. Training is hard and long and singing aloud around here is sort of being seen as loony or annoying so I don't get much chances to practice.
What song is it that you're trying to sing in this case?
Also, you can sing in transit (i.e. car, bike, on foot). When I have music blaring in my ears, I'm not embarrassed to sing out loud in public even if the only thing other people will hear is my voice.
Did your voice break in puberty? I know there are some girls who develop tenor voices as they grow.
