Just dropping a line to remember people that the some people* that are developing alternatives are currently on Batotos' Discord channel in the #manga-dev room. Especially needed are any people that have some UI/UX experience and are willing to mock up some designs in Pencil, Balsamiq or what have you for the people programming front-end. Hell, even people without any development or design experience willing to give any suggestions or feedback are appreciated.

I'm in the process of coding a successor to batoto. Most of the essential functions have been completed. I expect to announce the site before the 18th!

Nope nz worse place to do it read up on the law here, most famous one is Kim Dotcom yes he broke our copy right laws. They have pretty strict laws with hosting in nz. They are more relaxed on viewing content but are starting to move to make that harder too.

You have no idea how Manga licensing works do you?

 

Unless some corporation in New Zealand has licensed the manga in question you aren't actually going to be breaking any New Zealand copyright laws.

As far as the community goes, we could potentially make a batoto facebook group - scanlators can upload their stuff there too. I'm in a skip beat group, and impatient scans uploads chapters there, so it would be feasible on a larger scale possibly. Maybe.

It miiight be too late, but from a data security standpoint you really should have a display name that is different from the login name.

 

It's not great to have half the login data freely available on the website/forums, and some people might want to change their names without making a new account.

Could you add navigation button (back / next)? also please add load all page / 10 page / 6 page mode (like mangapark) it's usefull to older phone wich often failed to load all page.

Gotcha. That makes me a little concerned as my back-of-the-envelope estimate is that Batoto probably has at least around 500 TB in images.

But I'll be fervently praying that it miraculously all works out.
