It's ending with chapter 127. It was on the last page of 126 that it'll be the last chapter of "Nidaime."

I'm just now reading that Genshiken is ending. I don't know if it is with chapter 126 or 127. I guess we'll never know if Spotted Flower is to become canon or not.

I'm just now reading that Genshiken is ending. I don't know if it is with chapter 126 or 127. I guess we'll never know if Spotted Flower is to become canon or not.

Now that the "harem" arc is over, what new plot point can be made? Given the nature of this series, it can only really be about relationships but I don't think there are very many readers who are interested in purely homo relationships. Hato x Mada is a very developed relationship but you can still clearly see a lot of resistance from the readers for purely the homo reasons. Then again, a lot of the resistance might stem from them seeing themselves as Madarame for some reason.

 

Though as long as Mada keeps showing up, I suppose its not really over. Hato's still clearing fond of him and Sue...maybe.

 

Anyways, porn sure is serious business huh? I read a ton of hentai doujins but I never realized that there were so many people so emotionally attached to them.

Although self-insertion may be unhealthy, it seems reasonable to identify with Madarame assuming one read from the first series: he's the one odd man out while the others got conclusions either through work or relationships. From my point of view, he represents the nostalgic view of someone who is looking back at lost causes and places of youth. His unresolved feelings for Saki from that series left a big tension that made it easy to identify with assuming one has had such feelings in the past. I guess if you haven't had some unrequited love or felt nostalgia for opportunities lost, I guess it would be harder to self-insert.

I don't care if it's wish fulfillment at this point, even with only three chapters left I am hoping on the very last page of the last chapter Madarame and Saki get drunk and she accidentally gets pregnant making Spotted Flower a reality. 

 

well, in the second chapter (the following to number zero) saki said "this is your kid inside me. be a little more confident, ok?".

Ah, ok. That was so long ago, I'd forgotten; but I didn't really believe otherwise, just kicking out a low percentage possibility. Pretty much zero then.

Classic Genshiken reunion chapter! That includes Saki. And I get the oddest feeling that this chapter pushes the Saki x Madarame story further, but I could be way wrong on that. By that, I don't mean that it sets up Spotted Flower. It may do that, or it may do the opposite. But I'm pretty sure Saki has some words on Madarame's harem thing. I just wish I knew the thing Kousaka said that had her embarrassed a bit. Just to update, I'm reading that Kousaka announces she's pregnant, but then she and Kousaka say it is a lie.

Anyone else feels Shimoku is railroading this towards the Spotted Flower ending?

Maybe it's just me, but I'd love to see a storyline where NeoGenshiken takes the forefront for a while and we get to see Sue slowly grow closer to the others; maybe finding out why Sue puts on the act (what she's scared of). Madarame drops in every now and again, with things proceeding toward Spotted Flower.
At some critical point Sue makes a choice that seems small at the time, but clearly demonstrates how much she's grown. Things slowly start to diverge from SF with no obvious relationship to that choice - but in hindsight becomes clear as an example of how we create parallel universes with every choice. It would be magnificent if by the end of both it's clear that neither universe is clearly "better" or "worse" - just different.

Oh man. I can't wait for the scanlations to catch up to 125.

I wouldn't say "railroading" this. After I knew that Kio-sensei wanted a Mada x Saki ending, and then he did Spotted Flower to have that result, I felt he might try to steer Genshiken Nidaime in that direction. After all, during Genshiken's original run, he did want to do that, but couldn't get there. (Part of the problem was for most of Genshiken's run, each chapter took place in the physical month it was published, which limited the kind of storytelling that could be done.)

I think the whole harem arc was designed as a way to get Madarame there as a character. I just got the latest volume from Kodansha and rereading the chapters, I was reminded of how Keiko told Madarame how worried Saki was about him. That too is helping set the table for a Spotted Flower outcome.

Quick question. Status says Ongoing for this series but was this the last chapter (ch122) for Nidaime? The last scene with the shot of the club room and that last teaser line implies that it is. Anyway, I have no idea how this series continues with out Madarame... he carried this manga so hard the author had to write him back in for Nidaime.

Sasahara failed so hard at being the mc, and aside from Mada, Saki, and Kucchi, everyone else was kinda meh.

Ono and Tanaka ? sweaty people that havent bathe for 10 years....
