Hayate no Gotoku!

This ending is worse than I ever imagined it would be... Those last pages ruined it. Everything else was fine. Even with that cut in Hina's moment, it would've been better than what we got.

Ending doesn't touch on enough people and feels rushed. Did I miss the Maria's origin being explained somewhere?

It's entirely possible that a manga like this that goes on for so long is such a directionless monstrosity that Hata doesn't even remember enough details to be able to fill in the plot holes. I think it just goes to show that even if an artist is given all the time he wants to end his manga, it doesn't mean he's going to be able to do a better job than someone who had been canceled the week before.

Totally satisfying end. HnG was one of  the first manga I picked up and started reading, what, 10 years ago? I still have the first 8 tankoban sitting on my closet shelf. I suppose Hata sensei can now concentrate on his new series which hasn't had an update in months.

well maybe he has 2 daughters lol though I don't seem to be able to relate her name to Marigold's other name Zoe both names still relate to maria though considering Zoe means eve in latin and mary is the second eve. BUT both of them has a lot of similarities in terms of their characters 

both of them was orphaned and was "found"(Yozora mentioned that she was just found just like Maria), both of them became maids to 2 sanzenin heir, both of them "disappeared" for the sake of their mistress. why is it so similar? in addition if you want to ask about Maria's power well she has Midas' mind considering Yozora got midas' body. another interesting thing to note is I think Maria gave a portion of that power to Nagi similar to how Hisui has unbelievable strength Nagi is a genius. Are all of this coincidence or are all of this Hata's plan all along

So yeah Maria wasn't an illusion besides the fact that she did not show in the very last chapter,even the ghost priest was shown but no maria, here are the other points I wanna make.
1. Why did illusion maria help hayate to release her from the illusion based on how the wish works it's "you get what you ask" type of thing so illusion maria shouldn't help Hayate on that scene in fact she shouldn't appear at all considering nagi was not their for the illusion to act up (in hayate's illusion stuff only happened when he was their)
2. How did illusion maria even hand over a real physical letter. now the letter she gave was never an illusion 1. is the fact that nagi has never seen the content of the letter so it's impossible that she made up the content in her mind cause 2. she framed that exact image in her room which means that was real.
3. As stated by Isumi someone willed hayate to leave the Palace BUT it can not be nagi the fact that Hayate's wish was for nagi to never be able to use the palace's power in the first place and obviously Hisui wished for her to leave or something similar.
which leaves to one conclusion that was the real Maria and she was the one who wished for hayate to leave the palace well even if she wasn't their she is still connected to the palace so as long as the palace is destroyed she will still disappear.

You are about where Viz is currently printing the manga - volume 29, which is YEARS ago when it was released in Japan. Volume 29 starts with chapter 306. That may help you get a bit of a refresher, if you've already read that part. But that's when Athena was Ah-tan and Ruka and Nagi were getting ramped up for their doujinshi competition. Volume 28 is when Ruka is introduced.

We all seem to forget that there are more than one kinds of love.  And Nagi does not need to reliquish ALL types of love.  she won't have the love that is forced due to loyalty to a paycheck; she won't have the love that comes from gratitude or misunderstanding. 

But Maria loves her as a friend and Hayate loves her as a brother.  My guess is that in the final chapter she will learn that the true and most wonderful love comes without those types of "add ons" and Hayate will return to her life as her brother from a different mother.

Nonetheless, I do hope that Hayate's parents to after Hisui and bleed her dry.
