lol isnt the term 'yandere' being a bit overused nowadays? so, just because she has the power to fight back and defend the person she admires and looks up to, a person who saved her life once, she's already psychotic? should all imouto characters just cry and hide behind their onii-sama's back? if she was a guy and tatsuya was the girl, then isnt that what most would call being badass? i mean look at her situation. she knows full well how immense tatsuya's power/intellect is. she also knows how utterly humble he is even tho he has the power to destroy a whole friggin country or even the world. but all these ignorant people all brand him as weak, ignorant people who are foolish enough to bare their fangs at him, not having any clue to what he's capable of and she knows her brother has wont do anything. she knows everything, she wants to tell everyone of how proud she is but she cant because it's not her secret to tell.

so yea tell me, is she really the same as yuno gasai? is she really like that psychotic girl who kills almost everyone who gets close? coz lol if she was, then i dont think mayumi, mari or any other female from the school would still be alive after chapter 1. they prolly would already be statues thx to cocytus.

You know, for a hot minute I thought the author took a cheep answer...at p.8 the one guy is asking to come along and the other says it's not a good answer.  Then all at once, he says, "I can't stand her being humiliated" and *BOOM* "That's a good reason to risk your life".  WTF?  

Then the last page came and I went "aaah...I see..."

That has most of the light novels translated already...haven't read through them (honestly the start is pretty slow going) but I'd imagine if you wanted to know it would be in there somewhere.

I was trying to limit the post to the things that everybody could deduce... (school year ending, the crew advancing to next year and new freshmen entering)
Volume 9 is translated on baka-tsuki ... volume 10 is missing first two chapters (but sadly those two chapters are almost half of the book... so it might take a while)

moreover there was mentioned that in the magic society of that time it is usual for young people to have children early...
especially the talented...
This suggests that in some of the upcoming volumes there might be some more definite movement on that front...

It's weird how this story is sweeping discrimination under the carpet: I sometimes feel, that these magic users are not at all just like they talk they are. Of course that Blanche group is going overboard with their terrorism, but there must be some cause for that. Non-magic users must be discriminated wildly.

Miyuki can talk all day long how hard it is to train and attain that level and Tatsuya is the perfect example for that. Still, just beeing born with an ablitliy that is usefull for the economy doesn't give you the right to look down on those that can not use magic and will never ever be able to however hard they work...

Well, a good portion of this arc was spent trying to establish that aside from some stuck up Blooms acting haughty, no real discrimination really occurs. Students get the same curriculum regardless of their position as Blooms or "Weeds". Also that particular example you posted is totally out of context. Miyuki refering to the terrorists as "plebians" and looking down on them has NOTHING to do with their magic ability, and everything to do with the fact they dared try to harm her beloved brother.

They're not looking down on non-magicians, but rather, weaker magicians. A few magicians may feel superior, but the reality in this universe is that magicians are the tools and weapons of the non-magician-majority nations. It's better in present time, but in the past treatment of magicians as weapons and tools was much more brutal.

Anyway, I do understand what you mean by 'swept under the rug' though. In the light novels, they went on for a while about Tatsuya's beliefs regarding this discrimination. In a manga though, you can't exactly have longggggg paragraphs with just internal monologue. Perhaps they'll explain his views in like 2 chapters from now, when the battle is over and he's talking to someone else about it.

Anyways still stuck at Vol 9 since it's not fully translated yet. I think I'll start reading again when Vol 11 is done.

I made some research, the current chapter 20 just finished chapter 10 of volume 2 of the light novel. Volume 2 of the light novel ends at chapter 12, so soon there will be a new arc. From what i have heard the real fun begins when the next arc comes into action, Nine Schools Competition is the name of the arc. So i am freaking excited for that to come!

You should be... although the fun parts are still to come... although the 9 school competition is cool - new characters and background info... I personally loved volumes 7 and 8 of LN (second half of Thesis competition arc and flashback full of Tatsuya's badassery)

anyway... as the LNs are quite short.. I'd recommend those to all who liked manga...

btw I personally am shaking in expectations for the vol. 12 of the LN... the 3rd years graduated and c*apload of new characters should come in (like Mayumi's younger sisters - judging the end of 11th one)
