I just gave list of about a dozen examples of names that are stupid/silly in original Korean by decision of author himself. And half of them improtant characters.

Yet about no one among countless fans give a fuck.

SIU makes weird names. Its part of his work. Get over it.

Ex) Our main character is literally named Night and sounds/written exactly like chesnut.

Yuri means 'glass'

Shibisu can mean 'a guy who failed exam 12 times'

Anak can mean 'old married woman'

Jah Wangnan is 'I am prince' backwards.

Yeo Goseng means 'female high school student'

Gyetang came from 'Samgyetan' which is a tranditional chiken soup.

Urek came from 'soft shelled clam' which is read as 'Uruk' in Korean.

Prince, Apple, Love, Lurker - do I have to tell you.

The names are weird even in Korean. They are never meant to be 'flow' because its names from a fantasy world where all sorts of cultures are mixed in.

I am all for fixing the problematic translation quality (made a doc so people can work together pointing out mistakes https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-Su1TkRDYjgUNFnTfWcKGEvrqMj9RoOW2I5pQNTyX-Q/edit ) but can we please stop complaining about name changes that actually follows author's intention?

I love listening to Cry's voic reading creepy stories. He really delivers them well.

My fav is Rotted Man and Mason. Though former is more sweet then scary imo.

If I recall correctly, Grumpy, the administrator and owner of Batoto, has said that he doesn't like the idea of popups, because they are forceful and intrusive.
However, I am completely on your side. I believe that scanlation groups and comic hosting sites need to show some respect and appreciation for the works they scanlate/host. Considering that it's free to go to the webpage of the comic, I'd say redirecting there is the least that needs to be done. Especially now that we know for sure it helps the authors. I also agree about the current link, and I agree that it probably does next to nothing.
In the end, I think it comes down to priorities. I think that giving back to the authors needs to come before anything else (saving bandwidth of the users, catering to mobile users, etc).

About being forceful, one could argue that Korean fans are being forced to watch ads too, regardless of where they might be, internet speed etc.

Even if that is not posssible, please show more respect and apppreciation for others by providing info about how clicking raws would help and links to raws more evident. A all caps sentence like 'CLICK THE RAW TO HELP WEBTOON AUTHORS' would at least get a few more people go and click raws.

Hello! I am a Korean who has been in Batoto for some months, talking with foreign people who love Webtoons. I am glad Webtoons are gaining popularity worldwide.

Unfortunately, seeing scans does not help authors since they are paid for views from ads with raw.

The exact contract about normal Webtoon payment is not open to public, for some reasons. But this news proves Webtoons, even some of Best Challenges are earning from small text ads below the comic.

I do know there is a link posted in description area, but it would be nice to make it clickable, or even better, make raw popup automatically when one clicks the scan. If these kind of things would be too difficult, at the very least please pin a thread saying go and click raws and put a sentence like that in description too.

Thanks for appreciating Webtoons, I hope foreign fans would help authors with more views and allow them to get what they deserve with their hard works!
