This thread is, in some sense, requesting for the opposite of the Master account deletion thread, on a case-by-case basis. It has been indicated that Grumpy will be purging all accounts, and all user data (which I presume also includes forum stuff like posts and PMs) will be lost. However, at the same time, it seems like the forums themselves aren't going to be completely nuked, but merely shifted to a different domain. So I have a couple of questions:
1. Will the existing forum-related public data (existing topics, posts, status updates) be retained on the new forum (possibly with all user data nuked, so everyone will show up as Guest_xyz), or are we going to start afresh?
2. If some part of this forum is going to be retained, I would like my account not to be nuked. I have good memories, conversations and posts associated with my account which I would like to retain. Will this be possible (perhaps on a case-by-case basis)?

This is a technical support issue, and I think you'll find better answers on what to do in that forum or the quality assurance forum.

 

...But hell, who cares about the rules*. It's the eve of the Apocalypse! So I'm just gonna say, try hitting the little gear icon next to the page-select dropdown and see if changing servers does you any good (if none of those work either probably you're/we're just screwed by all the people desperately ripping their favorite scans at the last minute).

 

*I actually do care about the rules still but teaching people to use the correct forum at a time like this is probably taking "keep calm and carry on" a bit too far.

Well.  No way could I have stuck it out as long in your place.  Thanks for all these years of hard work. 

It's strange to realize just how much of my leisure time I have spent on this site for the last few years.  It has been by far the best, both to use, as a place of community, and above all in its ethics.  I'm going to miss Batoto badly, and all the avatars I've come to recognize and appreciate the minds behind.  Damn, damn, damn, dash it all, now what?

I was planning on reading all of Santa by silyeong (which I've been putting off for years) but there's not enough time left so now I'm going through the pages one by one and saving them for later. Like a scraper bot except a human, haha.

Please do read it some time!!!! I absolutely love that manga, it's adorable. This post made my day, thank you.

If I had more time at hand, I'd have considered rereading Santa or Taiyou no Ie. They're both among the first 4-5 manga I ever read on Batoto (when the former was ongoing) and are my top favourites till date.

I've been on this site for several years, mostly commenting in the actual comic/manga sections. This will be my 60th post so it seems like a good number to end on. I only made this to get to 60.

 

Not much to say, been reading manga for about 20 years now, and bato.to has been my main reader for the last 5 or so. I've commented with many of you fine folk. Thanks for everything bato.to staff and fellow manga readers.

To all non-technical people:
 
It's probably worth mentioning that buying the domain will not get you the site's contents.
Just the ability to have "https://vatoto.com/" point to your own site.
 
If someone buys the domain and sets up a new manga hosting site, they'd have a real edge in becoming "the next Batoto" since everyone's links will already point to the site. (Even more so if they somehow're using Bato.to's old manga database, but I wouldn't count on that, more likely everything'll just get re-uploaded over time by some people or other)

TL;DR the domain is just the name, not the site. So don't get your hopes up too high.

This is it huh guys?  I haven't been an active member of the forums in so many years... Since at least 2014 but I want to give huge thanks to the community and people on this forum.  It was amazing getting to communicate, goof around and discuss topics that we all had in common.  Batoto has enabled us to do so by providing us a site that has given us quality content and upkeep through the years.  I've literally grown up together with Batoto and it has been quite the amazing journey.  While I've never interacted with a vast amount of people on this board or even this forum I can tell and understand that all of us have a real appreciation for this website.  I want to thank all of the staff, moderators, scanlating groups and contributors. Without you, this long journey would have never been possible.  I wish you all the best and maybe just maybe we will meet again somewhere else.

I'd advise you to use your browser to ctrl + s and save the html for your follows page for now. Keep it safe.

 

You few hundred is do-able. I have 3,876 follows, but no time to deal with it myself at the moment. :(

Please do what you have to while you can, just in case.

 

I also know someone else also in the 3k range working hard on dealing with this (pic below):

Grumpy said he will be working on some sort of follows export. But I don't know how it'd turn out.

i have a REALLY  BIG  follow list (maybe around a hundred), so i'm currently on a nightmare...i don't want to live thru another Onemanga. that was already traumatic. this will scar me for the rest of my life
