4/12/23 -Sato Public High School
The Empress
The week the school had allowed the students to take off was taxing for Haruko. A great part was dealing with her new celebrity status. After the incident she was contacted by a member of Kouki Group, who interrogated her about what had happened. They asked her not to leave out any details either, so she told them the full story. However, by instinct, Haruko left out the cards, and the long nosed man. She felt in her gut feeling, that was a different matter entirely. They seemed to be satisfied with her story, and promptly left after giving her a stern warning to leave out the part about angels and monsters. Then unfortunately cam, the reporters. For days the Aokakesu Estate was hounded by journalists, and news teams trying to get the story. They wanted to know all about "The Heroine of the Moriyama Department Store" and how and why she saved all the students. So Haruko choose her story carefully. "Well, the truth is, I don't really know what happened. I was leaving to go to my part-time job from the entrance ceremony at Sato High school. When all of a sudden I blacked out. When I awoke, I was trapped by rock in the general appliance store with some of my fellow students. It was all very strange! Things got hazy after that and...I blacked out again. Then when I opened my eyes, many of the people who were in the room with me had vanished! Save for Flashlight Helmet. Also the lights were on our area of the store, and the bedrock blocking the entryway to the store was gone! By the entrance to the general appliance, were also a few shovels." Haruko told them all, not wanting to anger the Kouki Group.
"And just who was this Flashlight Helmet?! Is he your fellow student at the school!?" some inquired about Akio. Haruko, knowing his adversity to attention also decided to leave him out. It would make him feel desperately uncomfortable. So..."I am afraid I don't know who he was. It was dark throughout the Mall, and I couldn't see his face under the helmet, or the lights that shined at you when he looked your way. He never spoke, but we had a mutual understanding that something strange was afoot. In case there was more rock, we brought the shovels with us. Oh! If you are watching this Mr. Juria, I'll pay you back for the shovels! Anyways along the way, we heard pounding and yelling on the other side of the rock blocking the store entrances. Me and Flashlight Helmet decided to try and break it if we could. Curiously enough, as soon as our shovels hit it, the bedrock dissolved into ash. I'm not much in the way of geology, but I found that to be odd myself. On the other side, fellow students swam out of the store. Thanking us for saving them. Figuring in each store there was more, we set to work, and freed all of our classmates. This continued on till we had freed everyone from the first, and second floors. After that, there was a loud grinding noise from upstairs, and suddenly the wall exploded! Going through the wall, some how, someway, we all found ourselves back at the school. That's really all I can say about the incident, Now if you excuse me, I have a farm to look after."
Still, the reporters came and Haruko told them all the same story. Apparently the Kokui Group also found her tale to be acceptable, and ordered a large shipment of produce from the farm. This made up for almost a month of work, and helped alleviate some of Haruko's stress; though not nearly all. Students still came around to her job at Masuo Station, asking for autographs, or trying to give her gifts. But she turned most down. Mr. Juria, the Appliance Store owner actually came and reimbursed her for the purchase of Flashlight Helmet's equipment, her frying pan, and also waived off the IOU's for the shovels, and equipment that the others had taken. The main part of her taxation however, was from the Takahashi family. When Haruko had caught a bruised and exhausted Tomoe, she immediately yelled at the group who accompanied her. "Just what HAPPENED?! Tomoe-sama, are you alright? DID THEY DO THIS?" She said, rounding on the group. Most of which, who actually knew Haruko, quaked under her fury. But Tomoe calmed her down with a few decisive words. "Haruko-san...I'm okay, just had a little fall. It's thanks to them I even got out at all." she told Haruko, with stern in her voice. Haruko puffed, but drew her breath and calmed down. "If this is the case, I thank you for saving my Ojou-Sama. Should you happen near the Aokakesu Farm, I'll give you all a free basket of vegetables." said bowing. Then with that, she turned towards the parking lot, carrying Tomoe like a bride; and deposited her into the truck. The ride home, was very quiet. Punctuated only with a few snippets of conversation. When they arrived at the Takahasi estate, Haruko then had to deal with the worst nightmare of all. Tomoe's parents.....
All these thought's weighed upon Haruko as she and Tomoe pulled up to the school. Haruko, not wanting to remember that at this precise moment, shook her head of them. As she and Tomoe walked through the school gates however, it seemed the students had something different in mind. Immediately, she was hounded by what felt like a million students, asking questions, and pushing letters of thanks, and what appeared to be love letters in them. "P-please! It really much! I have to get to class!" she tried to get out, but they shouted their praise and admiration over her stifled voice. "Way to go Haruko-san!" "You are my hero senpai!" "MARRY ME HARUKO-CHAN!" "Is there room in the agricultural club for more students?!" were just some of the many things they shouted at her. Haruko looked toward Tomoe with a pleading look of desperation, whom just had a bemused smile on her face. "Tomoe-channnnn you traiittoor!" she pleaded out to her best friend, voice being drowned by the crowd. But all for naught, as she was swept around in the human whirlpool of students.
It wasn't until lunchtime, that Haruko was allowed any moment of respite. Soon as the bell ran, and before her fellow classmates could hound her again, Haruko sprinted off with the agility that was oh so desired by the track team. Going to the only place she knew that nobody could bother her, Haruko bolted into the Student Council room; and shut the door. Leaning against it, she swallowed deep breaths of anxiety. When she had finally regained her bearings, she sat down at the simple table in her blue plastic chair that was designated for the Treasurer. Then Haruko stopped for a moment, realizing what was wrong with the room. It was pure, serene quiet. Even at home, Sleep was the only time she had peace. Of course, last night was a gross exception to this. Haruko thought about the dream she had the night before. Once again, she and the people that accompanied her there before, were welcomed by the long-nosed man to the "Velvet Room".
Still veiled and masked, Haruko now had an idea of several of the people in the room now. They were approached by a beautiful woman named Rosemerta, whom asked them to check their pockets. Inside of hers and everyone else's was a simple gachapon. Rosemerta cryptically explained the nature, and purpose of these "artifacts". After they had opened them, the items contained jolted off into the unknown. “Bring those items back into this room, and we shall restore them to your proper form for you. Now then, a vision I must share with you.” Igor stated, the atmosphere getting far more serious as Igor flipped a card that revealed the tarot of "Judgement". Haruko didn't like the sound of that, nor the way that Igor spoke almost as if in mournful song. “Your foe is one who seemingly rejects everyone and everything in this world. He claims raw strength to be his sword and shield, and believes that with these weapons in hand, he will judge the wicked and raze the cruel.” then went back to his usual manner of speaking. “That is all I have to share of your future. Until we meet again.” he said to everyone. Then with that, Haruko woke up. Clutched in her hand, was the empty gachapon.
Haruko shooed away the thoughts for the time being. All she wanted to do was have a nice, peaceful lunch! So, she began digging into her simple bento of rice and ume, along with freshly steamed veggies. Though they had gotten some money, most of it went to unpaid bills, and repairs to the estate. "It'd be nice to have some sushi..." she mused aloud. Though, the fish and more had gone into the boy's lunches. Of which Haruko worked expertly and lovingly to decorate to their favorite things. Yuuto, had gotten sashimi in the shape of a sunflower over his rice with a relish making up the middle, Takumi's was a set of onigiri in the shape of different sports balls with various fillings. Finally the twins had omurice with the egg in the shape of a bear. But she knew that her brothers were probably excited by their lunches,so her musing held no resentment, only wanting and tiredness.
Halfway through her lunch however, Haruko felt the chill of someone watching her. Turning slowly, all she caught was the brief glimpse of silver hair. Haruko sighed, "Even here is no good it seems...but maybe I should go after them. I don't want to be harassed while eating in a few minutes. Plus, if it's a stalker, it'd be best to nip this in the bud before it gets out of hand." she thought to herself. With a practiced breath, instilling herself with serenity and patience, Haruko quickly put her lunch away, to follow the window-looker. As she did so however, her thoughts shifted unconsciously back to what happened with Tomoe's parents; and the real reason her week had been so taxing. Giving Haruko something to focus on, while she looked for the silver-haired individual as stealthily as possible.
CHOICE:
> Haruko has decided to seek out the stranger, before things get out of hand for her.
> Finish your lunch.
