I know it took a while, I've been busy, but here's the RP concept that I came up with. The basic premise is that you (played as some sort of humanoid creature) have been chosen by a fallen overlord to help him with his resurrection. Granting you with a portion of his power, you are expected to spread his influence throughout the lands and eventually, overthrow it in the process. How you would achieve this would be up to you, but I'll be guiding you along the way in the event you really don't want to think that much.

Its still a concept though, so basically a work in progress. Aside from enhancing one's abilities, what I'd wanna see here would be the RPers take on how they'd establish a some sort of community and how they'd lead it. And when granted such abilities, what would they do? Accept their destiny and pave the path for the next overlord or do something else? Prevent it from happening? Seek power for themselves? Surprise me.

Given all the pokemon-induced hype, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in an RP regarding that?

I've been informed of previous failures in attempting to run Pokemon RPs in the forums. Nevertheless, I still want to give it a shot.

Regarding the concepts I have, the first would be your typical pokemon adventure but instead of going through the grind of the cycle of encountering, capturing and training pokemon, we would make use of timeskips and focus on major events such as gym battles, maybe going against poachers or a team rocket-esque organization, and the like. I'm considering making it relatively realistic; so seeing a skinny ten year-old boy accurately hurling a pokeball towards a target 20 ft away would be unlikely.

The second idea would make use of a fantasy-like setting where players would be adventurers and mercenaries who make use of pokemon. This would be more realistic in the sense that people being attacked by pokemon wouldn't be uncommon. Bandits and criminals could use their pokemon to harm others.

Any takers?

I've talked to the participants of the roleplay and informed them that I've decided to no longer go through with the this. I'm quite fortunate that they turned out to be so understanding. I'll be coming up with something else that would be something that I'll definitely be more interested in. I guarantee that my next project will have my undivided attention and will be something that I'll definitely enjoy.

I posted.

I'm curious if these things count as something Jin might know about with his new ability? Like, is it all water-life things. Or strictly Ocean based or whatever?

How tall are they by the way? I'm imagining about our little goblin height, maybe a little taller. Is that about right?

Maybe if Jin gets closer? We don't know.

Around 4-5 feet in height since Goblins are around 4 feet.

I was going to say...we wouldn't mind if updates slowed down and were less often if it meant the RP continued. 'Edge Of Destiny' is a great example of that. xD

But whew. : D

Hmm, I'm curious as well, though, Callisto said he'd mention little tid bits every now and then in regards to his new ability. So I guess if I didn't get anything, I guess Jin will be in the dark about this. He did just get the ability, after all. =p

Will attempt a post later.

Exactly.

@DR That was supposed to be a joke. My little attempt to fool you guys. Probably not as well thought as I imagined. Lol

@Deviruchi Of course. You're more than welcome to join the group.

Patch, Jin, and Mu

With experience, better equipment, and an actaul vocabulary on their sides, the trio of Patch, Jin and Mu went on their way in search of tastier creatures. A goblin’s day was never done. Although they just finished their first meal of the day, given the position of the sun, it was almost noon. Sooner or later, if not already, their instincts would tell them that it was time for another meal.

Continuing to roam throughout the seashore, they had noticed that sand and stone soon turned into plants and trees, and in front of them, was a large lagoon. However, what took their attention was not the scenery, but the creatures that were within the shallow body of water. Running about and playing, it seemed that these Kelpie Calves had wandered away from their herd.

The Lone yet Courageous Rei

The Azure Crab remained calm and simply stared at Rei. However, the moment the goblin started making noise, it started to lose its composure. It was merely quenching its curiosity and thought that getting closer to Rei, to get a better view of her, would be a good idea. Sadly, it was proven wrong as the goblin started to circle the Azure Crab. Its instincts had kicked in and was telling her that it was now being hunted. It was kill or be killed and the crab had no plans of dying just yet. With claws agape, it readied itself for combat, but it appeared that she was at a disadvantage. Although it boasted its defensive capabilities, its speed was rather lacking and Rei made that incredibly obvious. A series of rapid movements followed by one swift jump had brought Rei atop the Azure Crab. It couldn't reach the goblin with its claws, so was this game over? Was this Rei victory? Certainly not. At least, for now.  The Azure Crab wouldn't give up without a fight. Given the predicament that it was in, the crab had suddenly tucked in all its appendages and withdrew its eyes back into its shell. It looked like it had a plan to get Rei off of it. Now akin to more of a pseudospherical rock, it tossed its entire body forward, landing on its back. Well, technically landing on Rei. The goblin cushioned its fall at the crab simply continued rolling before getting back on its legs.

The Azure Crab looked as if it lacked in intelligence, but at this moment, Rei realized that she couldn't judge a crustacean by its carapace. If she wanted to deal with it, she had to be more serious. Aside from Rei's aching body from the attack it had received, they were bsically back at square one.

Hoho, so there'll be job classes, huh? Nice nice.

Definitely needed for survival, yes yes.

hmm, By picking 'fishing' would that allow jin to do better against sea/ocean dwelling monsters? Or is it just a out of battle/story kind of thing?

They'll definitely be well fed whenever they're near water!

Will work on a post later.

The light novel had job classes too.

Not really, it would only grant him higher roles when it came to fishing and activities related to that, but in combat, it wouldn't help that much. The knowledge ability would indirectly help Jin at times. I might give you certain tidbits when facing water-based creatures.

I was gunna swoop in like a mighty vulture and pick at the bones of that knowledge/class combo. Useful for future Patch's inevitable expeditions across the seas. But I have decided that is a problem for future Patch. I'll be taking nothing but the pipe and and awesome new language.

Also, I posted. Not sure about the way I had Patch talk at the end. Sounds a little too intelligent. But I love the idea of the dialect he picked up being 'Posh English Gentleman' for no apparent reason. We'll see. >.<

You'll definitely get bonus points for that. If you don't mind, I'd prefer you put Posh English Gentleman' along with the Human Language in your character sheet just to confuse those who read the Info Cache. lol

If I could suggest something, maybe something similar to Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash? I wanted to incorporate the world of Pokemon in it too. I was originally going for that sort of concept but eventually strayed away from it. Maybe you'd be interested in it?

You know what? Screw it, I'm going to take both of the Utility/Unique Skills!

You get the following:

Waterborne's Knowledge - The user is bestowed a pool of information regarding seas and oceans along with the creatures that dwell in it. The information is gradually gained and expands over time.

Also, you get the the Job Class - Fisherman. You make pick any 2 talents that are related to this class. Examples would be swimming, fishing, and sailing. Do not be limited to these choices; if you have an idea that you want to go for, just tell me.

Update - Rei

The elderly goblin had nothing but ill thoughts for Rei. She simply repeatedly said her name whilst having a blank and confused look on her face.

“These are supposed to be the chosen ones?” Feelings of doubt and disbelief filled the patriarch. From all the goblins he’s seen so more, none were deemed promising. Too make things worst, Without a word, Rei had just left the cave, leaving the irritated old goblin alone yet again.

Her decision to explore the outside world in search for food appeared to be the correct decision given how hungry she was. Usually, one would be left speechless and captivated by the beautiful seaside scenery that was just outside their cave. Rei didn’t have that luxury though. Right in front of her, appeared an Azure Crab. It remained still and was just staring at her.

What was a young goblin to do?

So, how do I join in? Do I get introduced, or do I just suddenly pop into the scene? Like, do I emerge from the fisherman's net? o.o

You can start from the cave but no one's there except for the elderly goblin. You could chat with him? Maybe he's overpowered and wants to train you? Who knows?

Love that cheeky 'Learned from mistakes.' bonus level. lol

I do like the previous method of teasing the skills. It gave a little more of a clue as to what you might be getting. Which made it quite fun trying to figure out what they might be and if it was worth it.

Also, this is the sort of time when maybe the info cache would be good so we can update our characters? I mean, we could just edit our original cs's that you've linked too. That works too.

Knowledge is power, my friend.

I think an info cache would be more convenient. I'll get right to it.

Updated! And the hunt is over.

Given the skills I granted the fisherman, I just wanted to inform you guys that none are offensive. You have 3 to choose from but none will be revealed until you decide to use Absorption. I looked at the previous RP and saw that they categorized skills as offensive, defensive and utility. Some had a combination of the three. Would you prefer to make use of this method?

Update - Patch, Jin, and Mu

“Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!”

The elderly fisherman was left helpless and all he could do now was simply swing his knife around to fend off the three goblins that were attacking him. Running away was now close to impossible given his injured leg. The best option he had now was to cripple at least one or two of them before attempting to escape.

“Come at me you ugly green pests!”

It was do or die and the old man had no plans of croaking just yet. His knife was continuously swung as he attempted to rid his eyes of the algea that was obstructing his sight. Luck was not on his side though. As soon as he regained his vision, a rock had crashed right into his face, leaving him with a bloody and broken nose. Mu’s aim was definitely true. He was two for two; somewhere out there, an Elven Archer named Legolas must have been proud.

The human’s legs cradled from the pain, but he didn’t allow himself to fall; he had to fight through it. However, it was a difficult task. Another rock came flying at him, but merely grazed his arm. On the other hand, the fangs and claws that came after were a different story. Sinking into his flesh, he was left no choice but to drop his weapon as he tried to rid his arm of the goblin that was biting unto it and at the same time, distance himself from the other who kept clawing at him. None of his efforts were successful as fangs and claws just continued to tear through his body.

“Aarrrghgh! Blasted beasts!”

The goblins were relentless and the amount of blood he had loss continued to rise. His body had weakened, his skin turned pale and cold, and his consciousness slowly faded.

“Not like this….”

Now, he was nothing more than a lifeless corpse.
