I could extend history, but not sure where. I gave a run-down on everything though. I'll extend it later.

Name: Wei Rembrandt Xiang

Age: 24

Gender: Male

 

History: 

 

Wei Xiang was born in Xue, but moved to a foreign country shortly after his birth. His father was a merchant, and at the time of his birth, he was given a long term contract in that foreign country, Arda. It was cold, snow almost all year round, but it was the most industrially developed. Xue had always made explosive powders for their festivals, mainly for fireworks, it wasn't until recently that they began using them for siege weapons. Arda on the other hand was already a whole step ahead, making small firearms for use by military. Wei soon moved back with his relatives in a temple in Xue when he turned 9, learning the Lunar Phase style as part of his life there. He was moved back due to the harsh conditions in Arda, and the isolation, and his parents felt it was unhealthy for him, moreover learning a martial art would help. After learning and living in the temple for several years, he moved back to Arda and was enrolled into it's military at the age of 18.

 

Wei was talented, he learned quickly how to sneak and spy, although only to a basic level. Regardless combined with his combat prowess he quickly moved up ranks, and turning 20 became a special operative. His skills were primarily used for regular recon, but not very deep recon, because of his killing potential he was made to watch allies and kill them in the case that they attempted a betrayal, given the authority to kill whenever he saw fit unless he was specifically told not to. He has attained reputation over his experiences and visited many countries, and as all that happened, he became less of a person of duty, and more of one with personal interests. Seeing so much has changed him, he wanted control.

 

His current task brings him to Xue, the job was to expand Ardan influence by supporting the Sun Dynasty. To be honest he has no interest in doing such, however with the current events, the land of Xue was shaping up to be a very interesting place to be at. 

 

 

Specialty:

 

Lunar Phase Style: The Changing Moon Style is a double style, consisting of a sheathed and unsheathed version, both setting up for one or the other. The sheathed style is called the Empty Moon, and specializes in unarmed strikes, and evasion with minimal movement. The unsheathed style is called the Full Moon style, which promotes rapid repeated strikes. Both styles transition into one another with the Crescent Moon techniques, which are draw techniques, and the Waning Moon techniques, where are sheathing techniques. Crescent Moon techniques are intended to be the fastest in the Lunar Phase style, while the Waning Moon techniques are intended to be evasive techniques. This style and it's technique sets allow for smooth transitions between defending (or more correctly, evasion) and attacking. It has empty handed techniques as well, usually adapted from the Empty Moon style.

Sun Zhao: Only as far as it goes between employer and employee. In the short week he has worked for him however, he has shown to be extremely resourceful, and a very pragmatic and efficient operative. He is quickly trusted for assignments, but no more than that... Yet. Much of the difficulty in gaining trust is because Wei himself is from a foreign country, even if he was born in Xue.

Name: Hong Zhī Zhū

History: 

"Few know their place in the cosmic weave. Fewer still can lay their fingers upon the loom and influence the pattern."

 

Zhī Zhū history begins in a small rural area of the Fujian province in Xue. His parents were tailors that ran a small business in a small village, and were just two ordinary faces among the million souls within the country. It had seemed that Zhī Zhū  would be thrust into a life of mediocrity that would plague him for his entire life. After all, he was not physically strong or large, not quick or skilled and though his parents had always considered him talented at their trade, it was not nearly enough to save him from his banal existence. Yet fate works in mysterious ways. In many aspects, being born into such an average life let him bare the fruit of his talents and at a very young age he learned that he yearned more; more of everything: power, wealth, influence. Ambition burned inside him, and at the age of seven he ran away from home.

 

But how was a young boy like him, weak, alone, and talentless supposed to conquer the world on ambition alone? After living like a rat on the road for several months, the answer came to him while watching a local group of bandits terrorize a nearby farmer. Nobility of blood? The strength to lift a horse? The skill to cut through iron or to hit a target a hundred yards away? All of it was an illusion - all he needed was to appear powerful and exploit the weaknesses of others. But he wouldn't get anywhere by threatening peasants and nobodies, Zhī Zhū's goals were much higher.

 

To be a noble one just had to look the part. Dress like they did, talk like they did. Zhī Zhū was no doubt charming, his words caressed the ears of royalty like the sweet rice wine they drank. Through years of painstaking efforts, bribes, fake smiles, assassinations, and clever words he ended up as Chancellor of the Left, an occupation that left him, among other things, in charge of foreign affairs, collecting taxes, organizing infrastructure, and the security of the royal palace itself. Naturally when the Sun Family came to him with a proposition he was already jumping at his feet to accept.

 

Unlike the headstrong heir to the Xu family, Sun Zhao was blinded by his power and arrogance. Someone who lived an entitled sheltered life would only be easier for Zhī Zhū to manipulate and control. On the night of the insurrection, he personally opened the palace doors facilitating the murder of almost the entire royal family. All but one.

 

Though he bent his will towards the new head of the country, the Sun family with a smile on his face, his apparent obedience was anything but sincere. Now Zhī Zhū bides him time, waiting for the moment he can claim the throne for himself and fulfill his dream.

 

Specialty: Manipulation. Zhi Zhu doesn't excel at direct fights, he works in the shadows controlling people through fake smiles and bribes, and if those fail he gets what he wants through threats and extortion.

Xu Ren - Even when the Xu family was in charge, Ren and Zhi Zhu never got along. While most the court trusted his shallow smiles, Ren did not. Ren's distrust might've been the factor that saved his life years ago during the insurrection as he is the last remaining heir to the Xu royal bloodline.

 

Sun Zhao - The current emperor of Xue. Zhi Zhu treats Zhao with kindness and respect, biding his time for the day he can ring the entitled emperor's neck himself and take his rightful place in charge of the country. 

 

Joshua Clement - A highly skilled assassin from a foreign land that has forged a steady contract relationship with Zhi Zhu. While they definitely do not trust each other, they understand one another and value each other's talents.

 

Sho Mao - The Minister of Foreign Affairs that has been in Zhi Zhu's pocket for years. He treats Sho Mao like he would a servant or a monkey and one can only wonder what sort of secrets he's trying to hide from the world that he would tolerate Zhi Zhu's abuse for so long.

Name: Shu Fei Long

Age: Late 20-ish. Can't really remember. 28, maybe?

Gender: Do I look like a girl to you?

 

History:

In this age of chaos, war, and uncertainty, where gods walk among men. It is a time where strength is everything, where the weak are trampled underneath the dreams of stronger men. It is in this kind of atmosphere that Fei was born. It is in this kind of deplorable state of things that he was raised. And in this kind of wretched world was he forced to live.

 

Born as a part of Shu Dynasty, a small dynasty located in the far East of the mainland, Fei Long was taught nothing but the way of the assassin. He was taught not how to hold a brush, but how to wield a sword. He was taught not how to write characters, but how to spill blood of his enemies. He was taught not the mannerism to interact with others, but the way of moving without making a noise. He was taught not.. You know the rest, do you?

 

A death dealer, that's what he was. A sell sword, a warrior with no moral code. A despicable beast living by piling corpse upon corpse. A demon who feasts upon the soul of the innocent, the poor, and the weak. A murder doll controlled by the head of the clan. A being without a sliver of conscience. Or was he, really?

 

Unknown to anybody, even the demon himself, is the fact that he shed tears for every single soul that he took. He hated his job. He hated the fact that he had to take the life of others in order to prolong his. And finally, he could not take it anymore. On one moonless night, he used his stealth, trained to perfection by years of practice on actual field, to leave his clan for good.

 

Having finally released from the leash of his clan leader, for the first time ever, Fei felt like he is truly alive. The outer world, the world of light, is a beautiful place to be. It is so vibrant, so colorful, so.. full of life. It is nothing like the world of shadow and death. Here, people talk, laugh, and live in harmony.. Or at least they do not outright try to kill each other upon contact. To Fei, it is an utopia.

 

There was but one problem for Fei. He knew nothing except the way of assassins. As a result, he was unable to get a proper job, and in turn, unable to afford any food. He only brought a few dry breads and a sword when he left his clan. And that.. Was simply not enough to sustain him for a long time. Thus, the once feared demon was then lying on the side of the road, starving.

 

It was then that he met Jing Chen Yu. A poor girl with tattered clothes. A girl with swollen eyes. A girl that mourned the passing of someone important in her life. A girl with lingering smell of death. A girl with a sword on her hand. She offered him some food. It was nothing luxurious, just a couple of freshly baked bread. But to Fei, it was the most fulfilling dish ever. It was the very first time somebody had offered him kindness. The breads she gave him that day did not only fulfill his stomach, but also his heart.

 

 

Specialty:

Jìng hé - A sword style developed by Shu Dynasty based on Xu's Imperial Style. It took the concept of 'waste no movements' to the extreme, where all of the user's movements are a result of the enemy's. It is a very passive skill that relies heavily on counter attacks and attacks from blind spots. While developed as a tool of assassination, in Fei's hands this technique is more used as an intimidation technique to avoid meaningless fights.

History: Children are a lifelong responsibility of momentary pleasure and not everyone is preapred for that. Thus, orphans come into existence. Abandoned by their parents on the footpaths, near trash, near river banks or just someplace out of public eye, many don't survive the ruthless wide world. The few who do, become street rats, where they live by their inherent abilities and guile. Lei, was one such girl, she was swift of the foot and mind. Although the fortune of being the next Ching Ching or Gong Shuo was never in her mind, she still liked the idea, idolized them even. Guided by her need to survive she became a pick-pocket, after all a girl wasn't strong enough to be a bandit, especially in an age of war, where criminals, ex-militia and stowaways roamed freely. Those who got caught were either lucky that they died quickly or unlucky to be abused in every way by beasts in face of man. The streets were unforgiving and luck and talent were both needed to survive. For ten years she roamed the streets begging earlier and later picking pockets, her natural nimbleness her savior many a times.

 

Her luck ran out soon, Wu Feng, a silk merchant was her target, she would have followed her regular routine, tail him for sometime and strike when he was busy in the market. The tight lanes enough for her to get by but not for adult men to follow. But he was no ordinary man, he was a master, known as 'Ghost Fist Wu', it was said he could manipulate lightening, not something a child would know. Unaware she struck and was caught. She had expected a fate like her ill-fated colleagues, being a girl, molestation and rape were probable and had happened to other girls before her. But Wu Feng, was a man out of her calculations. He took her in and made his intentions clear. She was to train with him and earn her freedom through the arena, a brilliant preposition given what could have happened otherwise. She accepted, till then just another nameless street urchin. For five years he trained her, training in both weapons and bare-hand fighting styles before her arena debut.

 

Unknown to many, the silk and ware business was just a front, Wu Feng was a major player in the illegal arena scene, known for his eye for talent. But what he had found was a gold mine, well figuratively. He had sensed an ability to wield lightening within the young girl. Her natural quickness coupled with his grueling training regimen made her a warrior and it was time she felt killing for real. For next five years she won every fight she entered in the arena, each time with her life on the line. The terms of Wu Feng crystal clear, either she died in the sands or she fought and eventually won her freedom. 

 

She was capable in all the weapons her style, the Purple Mist, taught by Wu himself, utilized her sharp senses and nimbleness to its max, making her fights shorter and style unpredictable. The 9-point Flail being the weapon she distinguished herself with the most. It was said that when she wielded the flail she became lightening herself, her attacks unpredictable and their strength deadly. After her last fight Wu Feng called her and presented with a robe and a name Lei Zi. He hugged her like his own daughter and reveled his observations regarding her abilities. Shocked and filled with gratitude she wanted to stay and look after Wu, but he convinced her to go and write her own destiny.

 

Specialty: Adapt and Overcome - Her naturally fast reactions and time in the arena help her develop a counter-attacking fighting style. The more longer the fight drags the greater edge she holds in a fight. her nimbleness and surety of blade are her two discerning qualities. In a fight she shows no mercy and kills anyone from a geriatric to small child.

 

Ability: Lightning

 

Relationships:

 

Wu Feng: The former arena fighter turned silk merchant who took her in and taught her techniques to wield almost all the possible weapons. He is the father figure of her life and also the one who gifted her the lustrous purple robe on her last victory. He is also known to manipulate lightning and is currently hopeful that she would carry his legacy forward by learning that.

Name: Yang Qiu

Age: 21

Gender: Male

Appearance:

 

Despite being a monk, Yang Qiu retains an air of unrefined vigor. There are those who are put off by his youthful energy, some comparing it to an excited tiger cub. His height as well as his sturdy frame belies a simple mind; idealistic, hedonistic, and easily manipulated- Qiu would be the type of person who would do anything at the drop of a hat, should there be enough incentive to do so… unless it violates his morals, of course.

 

History:

 

Qiu grew up in the central plains of Henan, a region renowned for its bountiful harvests. Born on a harvest moon, to a farmer and the village midwife, Qiu had his entire life planned out for him. It wasn’t a bad life, per se. Anything was better than being one of those starving dogs that live near the Border. And so he played the role of the dutiful son, toiling out in the fields without a care in the world.

 

Until the great famine arrived.

 

It seemed that the gods no longer smiled upon the village. Their crops failed one after the other, dooming them to starvation. Then there was the matter of taxes due to the capital that needed to be paid. The people dwindled into nothing more than skin and bone as they clawed the earth for sustenance. Qiu watched in horror as his parents fell ill after they sacrificed their rations for him over a particularly bad month; their sunken cheeks reminded him of the demons that adorned the old waterspouts. It did not take long before they died, their minds ravaged by hunger and thirst.

 

Unable to stay in the cursed village any longer, Qiu took a few mementos of his old life and set out to find a new home. He was still weak from hunger; road bandits found him easy prey and nearly killed him on the spot had they not mistaken him for dead. Qiu lay there for a day, until a group of monks found him and took him under their wing. They hailed from Wudang, a mountainous province of Xue, renowned for its culture steeped in martial arts as well as religion.

 

Qiu was thankful to his saviors and strived to follow their footsteps, but living as a monk proved difficult for him. Daily prayer chants taxed his patience, while their meatless diet nearly killed him. The only part that he took to intuitively was the grueling test of physical endurance and discipline.

 

Sensing the young man’s restlessness, Qiu’s mentor gave him a staff and asked him a question. Should he find the answer, only then can he return. Qiu did find the answer after a bout of heavy drinking… but he has yet to return. At present, he spends his time wandering around, putting his skills to use in exchange for food and drink.

 

Specialty:

 

Windswept Vagrant

 

Qiu likes to say that his staff is blessed. Really though, it’s his tall physique that enables him to use it so effectively. Exceptional strength and endurance comes from his long training with the monks in terms of martial arts, while agility enables him to confuse his opponents as he dances wildly about.

 

 

Weapon:

 

Yáqiān èguǐ [Toothpick of the Hungry Ghost]

The Toothpick can extend to a length of 7 feet and is made of sacred wood at the handle and sturdy metal at the head and end, both of which are retractable. This allows for a more flexible fighting style that combines reach and speed. [like the picture, but without the fancy bells and the pointed tip, just a plain stick adorned with carvings of religious inscriptions :3]

• Marina Veltrov - Qiu has no idea who she is, but he thinks she is gorgeous. He also thinks Ching Bai is eloping with her, hence their secrecy.

Thief - Ming is a thief. Whether it is stealing a wallet from your back pocket or stealing your girl, Ming is an expert when it comes to taking something that is not his. The secret to his skill comes from his ability to use misdirection. He is able to divert people's attention allowing him to easily take whatever it is he wants. He is also quite nimble on his feet, as he is required to run away on the off chance that he is caught in the middle of the act.

History:   Xue's not the only land in the world you know?  Don't go thinking it's the center of the world or somethin.  Not like my dear Cyprus.   Do you know of it?  It's a small island state out in the west seas.  What's with the blank stare?  You seriously never heard of the silver isles of Cyprus?  Sheesh, I had heard Xue was filled with some backwater hill folk but this is just silly.  Listen up kiddo because your ole uncle Gustav is about to lay down some knowledge on you all.  The kingdom of Cyprus has existed on the Silver Isles since times of Emperor Rotosh of the Allerian Empire during the so called "Golden Era".  You never heard of them either?   Sigh, we'll just say that Cyprus has been around a good long awhile and is pretty much the best place anywhere. 

 

I see that look.  You're asking 'if Cyprus is so great why am I here in Xue'.  Simple.  I want experience.  I want to know more than just what I read in books.  I want to see the places I've dreamed of.  That's why I left and began my tour of the continent.  Picked up quite a number of trinkets along the way as well.  Which I've been told is highly illegal.  So don't do that.  Unless you are me in which case it it totally legitimate and reasonable and all a misunderstanding.  Honestly, what good were they doing just sitting there?  What's the point of preserving it so only a couple eggheads ever get so much as a glimpse?  It should be out in the world to be enjoyed by everyone right?  Like right here I have the scepter of...of...where did I put it again?  I was sure I had it in here....well never mind you get the idea right?  I'm not a thief I'm a liberator!  Or something like that.

 

Well I could tell you more about Cyprus and my life instead of that nonsense but I don't wanna.  Privileged information and what not.  So scamper along and do whatever it is kids do in this country.

A Scrupulous Mind-  Stephen Gustav's mental acuity is considered to be far and above the norm as his mind is quick to seize onto any and all information put before him but more important is his ability to understand and analyze it.
