sure mate, yet sometime the author joking around with those kind of art style
anyways always prepare ye'r heart and say'n itadakimasu before you read nihei manga =")
For a setting where humanity is on the verge of dying, I'm really surprised author didn't pick the harem end, because truly when survival is at it's peak for thousands of years, wouldn't their morals be tweaked? With a setting like this, and the introduction to androgynous gender, I'm surprised he didn't add polygamy.
This might be better if the pace is a bit slower.
The bad Ochiai, is it Ochiai? or it's just a another worm with Ochiai personality?
In a sense, it's physically a worm-whatever, but it convinced itself that it was Ochiai?
What about the one in Mozuku? Is it another worm with Ochiai personality? Then worm-Ochiai Mozuku is calling worm-Ochiai Kunato Ochiai-sama? How the hell worm-Ochiai Kunato is the leader of worm-Ochiai army???
It's so fucked up....
This about sums it up. Nihei was trained as an architect and in Blame the setting was the MC. This is his first real attempt at telling a story with characters and it is a bit spotty, to say the least, but his hard sci-fi sensibilities still make it an instant classic as far as I'm concerned.
Yeah I was stumped too. This damn manga. Can't say I hate it, can't say I love it. But the mangaka is exceptionally talented, that's for sure.
This mangaka does not joke around. Mah feels... mah hart...
It felt weird, like the author purposely deus-exed a way into a happy ending...
Same. Even if she's had a portion of herself added to the mix of humanoid placenta and blood worm, it just isn't the same.
Inhuman love is best love.
The last author comment page just talks about his books and merchandise, amounting to "buy my stuff."
I miss Tsumugi
Conveniently, Habanero are translating the re-release.
Oh man, that BLAME! omake made me tear up. Time to re-read BLAME! i guess.
Fun series with good art and mech designs. You can really tell Nihei lost steam towards the end though but not a bad ending.
Nihei has a new manga http://vatoto.com/comic/_/comics/ningyou-no-kuni-r18812
Wonder when Tsutomu Nihei Sensei will start another series all his series had some kind of sci fi element wonder if he will continue with this trend.

short but sweet (and very recent!) interview with the artist; he talks about stuff like why knights of sidonia is so different from his older work, his tendency to create non-human love interests for his main characters, etc.
I can't figure out if I hate this manga, or if I love it.
It's rushed beyond belief, every single plot-point disappears as soon as it emerges.
It cannot decide if it wants to be a serious story about tragedy and death, or purely comedy, harem and gags with some action on the side.
The characters were well characterized and introduced, but at the same time it doesn't really feel like they matter when the story paces so quickly.
The main antagonist feels out of place with no actual motive as if he has no reason to be there other than "The author requires an antagonist! For some reason!"
Yet, the setting was well introduced to the point you can put things together yourself, and the story kept moving forward by presenting new things to look forward to, while wondering if the characters will manage to survive the next big challenge.
The world was built exceptionally well, yet it feels like the author had issues fitting an actual story within it. Something tells me characters is not the strong suit of this author.
I don't know, I feel like I took a peak at a time-lapse of a human struggle.
I can't hate this manga, but I also can't say I love it. It was...Fine.
The ending feels like it was shoved under the rug in so many ways (one of which, there was no catharsis regarding the Guana), but whatever. Time to check out Blame.
Final cover?:
One heck of a ride.
so best girl die and replaced by recordings of memory/personality implanted in new body?
that sucks.
yuri is dead! dammit!
So spin off of the future when? Blame anime/3dcg when?
hopefully there'll be explanations of where Gauna came from in the first place.
Then...RIP one of the weirdest harem manga ever made...
Updating:
- The
intersex androidshemale ended up together with Yuhata android based transsexual. (the party will have... machines...)- The random Honoka... probably died, anyway the others thousands of clones become a large feminist group. Oh, humanity.
- The pilot Samari ended up together with the loser hentai, who become a winner!
- The Captain, after kill all the other "imortals" in a successfull "coup d'etat" with the help of a Ochihai unexplained clone, won the final battle aggainst the poor Gaunas who destroyed Earth for nazi-ambientalist reasons... and ended in a fan-service scene.
- The girlish robot, it ended alone and happy, because it is just a robot after all.
- And by last, the
chimerapenis + Benisuzume = New Hoshijiro Pinochio, who got the hero and they even had an unbelievable child!(hoho... the one who become pregnant is not so obvious like that)
Thanks Nihei, it was really funny while lasted. And dont retire!
