I was watching the "Good morning America" this morning. While the announcers were following a hip-hop musician into a bus of cheering people the headlines at the bottom of the screen: Miami hit by Hurricane Hermine, Zika virus linked to mosquitoes, causes paralysis, thousands of bees killed by mosquito fumigation... We need to find good music to listen to as the human species goes out.

Of course, nature tends to work slowly, over a period of tens of millions of years, which leads me to wonder if man, who has only been on this planet for only about one million years, is eventually going to be a failed experiment compared to things like cockroaches that have survived numerous extinction level events that occur every so often on this planet. Maybe our only solution to eventual extinction is to spread out to the stars.

Rant over. Time to read a mindless comedy manga to take my mind off of this depressing subject.

Sadly, our country has fostered that "dependent" attitude among the young for far too many years because sheep are easier to manage and control. So we now have a situation where over 50% of the voters feel entitled to a free ride, instead of being self-reliant.

in the latest Bleach chapter with the 'bankai', the bodhisattva avalokiteshvara was depicted as woman. this is a misinterpretation by the chinese when buddhism was passe into china from indian missionaries. bodhisattva avalokiteshvara who represent infinite mercy is suppose to be a guy. cuz guys are so much more merciful than women.

At the time [Spirit Away] was released, Miyazaki was asked why he’d decided the new story like that in a interview of Premiere and he said “Coming to think of what is the most appropriate for describing recent Japanese matters, I think it is the sex industry. Everything in Japanese society seems becoming just like it. I managed to symbolize the reality surrounding the current girls by animation, and then the direction of the story was firmed on the sex industry.

“Kaonashi is Miyazaki himself,” says Toshio Suzuki, producer of Sen to Chihiro, in the PREMIRE interview but Miyazaki fervently denies his partner’s interpretation.

“No!” he says. “Kaonashi is a metaphor, the libido that everybody secretly harbors.”
