It is weird. But oh well...

I actually approached other official publishers prior to putting domain up for auction to see if they're interested. From about a month and half before the announcement. Sadly, I either never got a reply or got turned down. I found that so stupid. They spend so much more money on advertising already and they were willing to let go of an extremely effective promo ability.

That's why I ultimately just sold it to market. At the point where publishers already declined, the only potential buyers left was random fan or a buyer like now. At least it's not malicious, so I can't complain... yet.

Birkenstocks are apparently in again!!! I've always liked em. I have a cheaper kind that's lasted me like eight years that I like to wear everywhere (ultimate comfy lazy shoe), so it's awesome that now I can be lazy and comfy and fashionable!

I've heard there will be new site similar to bato.to named tama.mo but im not sure if it true or not 

With all due respect, but did you ever consider getting more sysadmins on board? The donations count towards this goal because it's in the best interest of the site and its users benefit.

I honestly don't understand. If the site's growth (which is expected based on the content it serves) was too much for you to handle alone, you should've gotten more people to help.

Edit: wild idea: Turn it into an e-hentai thing where the bandwidth is offloaded between users who choose to donate it. This way, there's no one central point of failure and it becomes immune to DMCA due to its decentrailzed nature.

It seems really really odd to me that you'd rather nuke the site instead of passing it on to someone willing to take over

I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye on the forums here for the next couple of weeks in hopes that someone has an answer to this question.

Going forward, some of the staff members have and still are in the process of backing up the entire Batoto comic content as they have been notified of this decision well in advanced. They may choose to create a new Batoto or something simpler. That will be up to them, but I will no longer be part of running it.

I've been around since Sept. 2011 and this is the only site that I think is worth a crap to frequent. I've never seen any other site give a damn about the scanlators, the leechers, and artists equally and did it without being pure trash with virus laden ads everywhere. I think we're all going to be worse off without Batoto around. I can honestly say I've read so many manga, that I would never have given a chance normally, or even would have heard of. I'm truly grateful for you guys being around for as long as you have.

I hope you get an awesome rest man, you guys have earned it.

Can't say I approve of the decision to burn everything to the ground instead of passing the torch, but c'est la vie. The community is large enough that it will survive through an attempt to cripple it like this. 

Today ... I am a SAD POTATO ... This had become my favorite site for reading manga even if the chapters came out days later then other sites. Thank you for all your years of hard work. This site will be missed.

Why can't you just give the site to someone else? If the admins are already copying everything why do you have to burn the site instead of passing it on?

This will cripple manga scanlations, we need to find an alternative quick.

Thanks for the hard work over the years. There are alternatives, but none is as good as Batoto, hopefully something else will pop up.
