Whelp, I ditched out too much my first year, seems I have to repeat

Nice.  All the other sites I frequent weren't doing anything much for the Great Day, and I was feeling sad.

What do you mean by preferential?    Every scanlator with a no-hosting policy as judged so by the site already has a group page with a link to their site, just like the groups that allow hosting.  There's no need to link directly to their website from the series page; just listing the scanlator's name means that we have to go to more work than clicking the hyperlinked name for the groups that do have chapters up.  Anyway, I do appreciate it when people comment and say "Oh, BTW it's being done by xxxxx group" so I know where to go.  

What I do is hit the "follow" button.  If it's a title that recently got a new chapter, you'll still see it in your "My Follows" and will be reminded to go back and read them for at least another day or two.  And if you end up not liking them, just unfollow.  And if you forget to read it soon, then you'll remember next time it gets a chapter update.  And if it never gets a chapter update...well, then you've spared yourself the agony of a dropped series.

The only ones you actually need to read right away are oneshots.  I prioritize those.

It's much more useful for me than the "popular series" list.
