here's my actual manga list: http://myanimelist.net/mangalist/nikasanyuu
I said underrated since some of the underrated mangas have really good and unique plots, the kind I'm looking for is a manga who's romance is "not typical" also slow developing love & love/hate stories are good OH and i'm totally fine with horror XD If you could recommend something like Ibitsu or Doubt that'd be awesome XD Also loved the ring :'D
EXAMPLES:
1) Superior ---> THIS....I LOVED THIS <3 XD
2) Pig Bride ----> I loved how the guy kept on pushing the girl away at first, but when he finally became aware of his feelings for her (though he wouldn't admit it) he started showing signs of jealousy and blaahh... =)) And how the girl was so obsessed with him at first, but started to play "hard to get" or sth when her face was revealed =))
3) Warau Kanoko Sama/Koi dano Ai dano ---> I love LOVE kanoko's view on life
4) Lover Discovery (It's not completed though...but i loved the plot! Very..unique? Not really, but it had certain details to it that were
5) Ann Cassandra -----> Romance here could almost be non-existent XD But I'm totally fine with mangas like that as long as THERE ARE LOTS OF HINTS if you know what i mean XD and if they're relationship could develop later on... -shot- XD
6) Usotsuki Lily ----> I love how the girl is oblivious to the guy's feelings when he's jealous XD
7) Lying Mii-kun and Broken Maa-chan
8) Lock on! ---> I LOVED IT!!! Man-hating girl x Happy go lucky guy =))
9) Double Arts ---> the romance was slow-paced :'D AND THE ENDING TOTALLY KILLED ME <3 <3 It had so much potential...if only it didn't get discontinued
10) Kimi wa Boku no Mono (i usually hate stuff like this but for some reason the story was so interesting i kept on reading it and loved it! I still don't like this genre though....)
11) Love Allergen ---> cute!!! <3
12) MANA -----> I would've given this manga a 9, sadly it was poorly written =A= as in the sequencing of events, some happenings/scenes where unreasonable etc etc
13) Megane x Parfait! -----> AHHH very misleading =____= the author totally had me going...LOL I LOVE HER FOR DOING THAT! When reading this manga, you'd think "Oh i've read mangas like this before, she's totally gonna end up with guy A...but i'll read it anyway since its cute"... AND BOOM SHE DOESN'T END UP WITH WHO THE AUTHOR WAS HINTING HER TO END UP WITH....ahh so many feels for this manga
14) Money Ace X ----> ending killed it for me..but I LOVED IT EITHER WAY
15) Nousatsu Rock Shounen ----> When I first started reading mangas, i was a total shoujo addict! But you know, too much of one thing and you get sick? yeahhhh i felt that....i read too many shoujo mangas...got sick...and that's why I'm asking for your help with uderrated/rare ones XD BUT THIS ONE! I loved how the guy wasn't like other shoujo guys who would quickly get jealous and get pissed at the girl or believe stories...he's just so friggin epic....
16) Ranma 1/2 ----> I WAS ADDICTED TO THIS FOR 3 FRIGGIN YEARS *cough* ahemm welll what can i say, I'm a fan of Love/hate stories :'D
17) Tamago no Kimi ---> PFFFTTT I LOVED THIS XDDD Made me laugh XDD I was reading this at a cafe and daaannggg it was torture not being able to laugh for fear people would think i was a complete retard ;w; I mean a Narcissistic guy x a clueless girl LOOVED IT!
and many moree.... =))
please help TT^TT i'm running out of mangas LOL

I guess i'm not sure by what you mean by underrated since you put ranma 1/2 which can be found in most public libraries as an example
this just seems like a personal list that you're calling underrated for whatever reason I don't want to know but you should be more clear if you actually want underrated manga or just normal stuff like your list
http://vatoto.com/comic/_/comics/junai-tokkou-taichou-r6949
I pretty much just re-uploaded this to batoto, most of this author's work has gone relatively unnoticed/untranslated in the states besides her first manga Power!/Girl Got Game which is a shame since she's improved massively since then in every way.
http://vatoto.com/comic/_/comics/good-morning-call-r3658
one of my favorite manga, the art hasn't aged too badly, it's hella funny on multiple levels, and nobody's ever heard of it

i don't think it's classified as "romance" anywhere, but i found the romance part of it very satisfying. better than most shoujo at least.
dengeki daisy is one that i don't think is underrated, but i see you haven't read it yet despite liking beast master that much..
otomen is another interesting romance story, with the gender roles kind of reversed without it being gender bender or anything like that.
and nicoichi. that one has an even funnier problem than ranma

most of your list is fairly popular/recent, i mean double arts didn't do particularly well but it was on the cover of shonen jump, shoujo that stand out are pretty rare but i've heard of most these already and the ones I haven't read don't exactly sound special
I guess i'm not sure by what you mean by underrated since you put ranma 1/2 which can be found in most public libraries as an example

lol yeah some of the ones that are on my list are well-known like double arts etc.. but like i said It's "underrated" not that its unpopular, but it isn't given enough credit as its supposed to since in my opinion it was a really good manga with lots of potential, and there are a lot of fans who would agree. And I put ranma 1/2 in there not because i believe it is an "underrated" manga, coz its not =)) There are tons of ranma fans out there, and the sole reason i put it in the description is because it is an "Example" (like what i said) it is a referrence so that people would know or at least get the idea as to what kind of manga i am looking for, since some people may not be able to understand my description (i suck at expressing stuff so yeah XD) So to clarify, the stuff i put on the "example" list ARE NOT ALL UNDERRATED they are just referrences...but I am looking for underrated/rare manga's since most of the recommendations I've been getting so far are all cheesy stories with cliche plots. So i was just looking for something new :3
Oh and thanks for the suggestion Though i've already read that XD see: http://myanimelist.net/mangalist/nikasanyuu
I loved Love Attack! And power!! was really good too
there's this really sweet love/hate relationship in kyoukara ore wa
i don't think it's classified as "romance" anywhere, but i found the romance part of it very satisfying. better than most shoujo at least.
dengeki daisy is one that i don't think is underrated, but i see you haven't read it yet despite liking beast master that much..

The way you described Kyou Kara Ore wa!! was interesting so I checked it out and it seems good, thanks! Ahh XD And i've heard about dengeki daisy and nicoichi, and yes I'd loooovee to read them but i have this thing about ongoing manga (they might be completed but the scanlations going on haven't finished them yet), so i'd rather wait till its completed since it kinda gives me this unsettling feeling if I can't finish something XD But thanks for the suggestions! *A* -bow-

hmm, for something different, try boku no futatsu no tsubasa
the prince's cactus is also funny, a shoujo with a strong female lead who stays strong
my lovely ghost kana, is a lovely story
but i think i have too many "other" titles in my anime list. impossible to find the interesting straight romances

Have you tried any of the old classics? If you could over look the art, the stories are awesome. They aren't underrated (very famous back in day)... just not very exposed to the younger generations
The ones below where love plays major parts but it doesn't totally revolve around the central storyline.
- Glass Mask (this one is probably the oldest out of all shoujos... wait.. you said complete right? hmmmm. Still give it a shot since its quite long.)
- Kanata Kara (From Far Away)
- Basara
- Red River
I guess I'll recommend this funny horror(?) romance random one.

I recommend these two also.
Have you tried Lovely Complex? It's not underrated (I believe it's not anyway ). It's one of the best Romance-Comedy in my opinion. I recommend reading the manga first before watching the anime. Have fun

here's a number that aren't on your list that would be considered unique "not typical" and/or underrated......and complete too

*O* THANK YOU SO MUCH!! They all look interesting *-* Am listing them down right away XD Thanks again!!!
I don't know about underated or how rare you want your completed manga to be...
Have you tried any of the old classics? If you could over look the art, the stories are awesome. They aren't underrated (very famous back in day)... just not very exposed to the younger generations
The ones below where love plays major parts but it doesn't totally revolve around the central storyline.I'm still sort of confuse on what you deem as rare...I do know a few ones that are cancelled series but had potential...
- Glass Mask (this one is probably the oldest out of all shoujos... wait.. you said complete right? hmmmm. Still give it a shot since its quite long.)
- Kanata Kara (From Far Away)

AHH thank you!! >u< Ludwig kakumei seems really interesting *A* And so do the others you've read *-* Will check em out later *A* THANK YOU! -bows-
Unbalance x unbalance
Looks nice *-* I'll list it down Thank you for the suggestion! ^u^
ah, so you don't like unfinished manga too much either...
hmm, for something different, try boku no futatsu no tsubasa
the prince's cactus is also funny, a shoujo with a strong female lead who stays strong
my lovely ghost kana, is a lovely story
but i think i have too many "other" titles in my anime list. impossible to find the interesting straight romances
lol yeah ongoing or dropped mangas kinda leave me....idk wanting more? well that depends though XD case to case basis right? XD
Thanks for the recommendations! *A* Oh what do you mean by straight romances? Do you mean shounen-ai/shoujo-ai sth like that? lol I guess its okay if you recommend something like that *A* I'm open to trying new stuff once in a while XD Oh and thank you so much again!! These were really helpful ^u^
I"s
or for that matter, anything from Masakazu Katsura.
Ohh my brother's been telling me to read this since it made him cry (i have no idea why....is this really a drama-ish manga? Or is he weird.. XD) so I didn't really try it out... XD But if you say so, I'll have a look at it *A* Thank you for the suggestions!!!!! They're really helpful ^u^

I'm sorry but everything that author writes is just terribleI"s
or for that matter, anything from Masakazu Katsura.
http://www.mangatraders.com/manga/series/2911 (not hosted on batoto)
If you go by the subtext of this manga, even HE doesn't like his own work. The sheer spite for the story he's forced to write every time is nearly palpable and the parallels to his other manga are not a coincidence
He flat out says that the kind of romance he draws is masochistic, I mean its interesting kind of like how the toloveru guy's ex-wife took his daughter hostage but it's still terrible
http://www.mangatraders.com/manga/series/306
http://www.mangatraders.com/manga/series/136
this dude's work is basically the same but much nicer, when he drags stuff out it's because he wants to bask in it and he's shown that he knows how to end a story if he wants to
^^^hey these all double as suggestions

yeah, i know it was a dead thread, don't care. i'm still digging for something else 30 pages back on my content and saw this and had something to add.......
Gokinjo Monogatari is "rare/underrated"........ probably because it's going on 20 years old....... but it's probably one of the best, most complex and compelling shoujo romances I've read. and complete of course....

Cheese In The Trap - its still ongoing but is only translated on naver now so if you read it here on Batoto it kinda feels completed or at an end somehow.

I did NOT browse the thread so I have no clue if it was already recommended BUT it's AWESOME
Please Save My Earth ! --> It's a bit old but it's definitely great. It might get a bit getting used to the series though. When I first read it the beginning was a bit meh. But once you get a few chapters in, and accustomed to the art style, it's really really great.
EDIT: What I first edited in was edited out and replaced with what is now the edit.
