Rend - Day 2 - Temple

When she arrived at the temple, Rend could hear the loud wails of an idiot and sure enough, when she arrived at the source, there indeed was an idiot wailing. It seems like she can't go even a day without getting her daily dose of stupid. Goblins surely are trash, the less of them, the better... And just as the thought crossed her mind, the priestess had enough of that goblins shit, turned her arm into a spiked mace, and smashed his head in, killing the moron instantly. Rend didn't know who that was, but she approved of her instantly. Based on descriptions and the looks of things, it's a good guess that she was 'Akta'.

After waiting for the priestess's prior business to conclude, Rend approached Akta and introduced herself before asking the Medusa whether she'd be willing to take Rend on as an apprentice Artificer. She needed to get stronger and to get stronger, she needed to be more well rounded. If she was going to get anywhere and escape this fate of being a revolting Goblin, she needed more than simply waving a weapon or her claws around. And being able to make ones own weapons would be a big plus.  Having your own place to live is probably also important as well, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Before explaining her reasons, Rend decided to drop her little act and go for another approach. She figured that Akta wouldn't be as dumb as the goblins and fall for that kind of thing and besides, from what she just witnessed, that kind of stupid act would more than likely irritate her and Ruin everything. Especially if she said her real reasons, not happening. Instead, she decided to mix in some truth with her little act to increase the chances of believably. That way, her actions before with the goblins along with her change of attitude now could easily be explained by wanting to improve herself thus making it less of a pain in the ass for herself later. Deciding her approach, Rend began explaining her reason for wanting to become an apprentice as such:

"I-I'm weak and useless. I don't....want to be useless. Want to be capable of something, be of us to others. Will do whatever asked if you accept." Busting out the waterworks for added effect. Yes, she'll do anything, as long as it benefited her that is. Obviously, she didn't didn't say that. If Akta asks why Artificer, Rend would explain upon having seen such works in action before and becoming mesmerized by them, something to that effect at least. In truth it was part of Mocharr's explanation and kind of saw Akta whip out some magic when killing that dumb goblin, so it would go without saying how useful magic items would be if magic itself is quite useful.

Dar

She took a bite of the heart as she got busy carefully skinning all the dead rabbits, whether it was the result of the mighty weapon that her teacher had afforded her or her recent growth she was unsure. But the rabbits had been easy, easier than she had imagined. Brixx wasn't around & their number was greater but still she managed to trump them. All she had was a gash to her midriff which seemed to be slowly healing as more of the taste of the eye shaped candy she chewed.

Unlike last time, she didn't have the luxury of a companion so the cooked meat would have to wait for a more favorable time or she may have to start packing some firewood with her for future hunts. The juices from the tender organs filled her palate as she calmly bit them while focusing of a thorough & neat deboning. It was essential she thought for a better bargain on her goods. She made minimum cuts to the skin so as to preserve its quality & broke off the horns with utmost care. She then delved into the skull to feed on the slurpy brain & soft tissue before cleaning it.

Now that she was by herself, Old Grampa Goblin's words resonated within her, she had to find a place to stay from now on, she was too big for the nursery. She went over a few places that she could stay, maybe if she'd request the teacher & ask her politely she'll let her sleep in the forge, near the ever burning fire that enchanted her. Or maybe she's lucky, she could be injured enough to sleep in Akta's sanctuary. The vibrating hum from the grand old tree was certainly soothing now she recollected her experience from last night.

Or maybe, better still she can request Akta for a brief stay in the sanctuary until she had enough resources to get herself a house. Or there was still Fluffy, maybe if she was polite like Mocharr taught her, she could gain favorable knowledge from the elder. He seemed like the one well versed in the ways of her kind since he made all the announcements. Plus, now that she recollected the Hoppy legs of Doom, she felt that there was something more to the grandpa.

Mulling over existential stuff, she ate all the organs by herself. For the first time since her birth, her stomach seemed to be quite. She folded the skins over one another around the three horns & put it over her shoulder. She then attached the three skulls to her belt, grabbed her heavy warhammer & proceeded deeper into the jungle. All the while staying hidden in the foliage near the open track. Being alone meant that she didn't have the luxury of exposing herself. She had to stalk her prey & wait for the opportune moment to strike. Her instinct had told her this much. A brief thought of Brixx came to her as she ambled along, he hadn't been there in the nursery this morning & she had heard the midwives talk about him in the fatalities of the first day.

Though she was sure that he was still prowling about somewhere in this jungle with that roguish grin of his & those bright sparkling red eyes that she secretly admired. Maybe they'll meet again soon.

Bayaal and Fii

"Okay, you can stay in my old room. And starting tonight Bayaal, we will begin your lessons." Mocharr said as Bayaal jumped for joy that he now had a home to call his own. He learned that it helped to have people in high places. After his celebration, he then noticed that Mocharr has delivered on the equipment he asked her for. Both he and Fii went over and inspected the weapons. The two child goblins gazed at the weapons and how finely crafted they were. Even without and expert eye, beauty could not be denied. This was such an occasion.

Picking up the sword, he could tell the sword had some weight to it. But, he didn't have too much of an issue swinging it with two hands. "This is cool! I think, with enough practice, I can use this with one hand.". He kept swinging as he became more and more familiar with his weapon. So much so that Fii had to stop him before he hit something in the shop.

"Thank you for everything. We are going to go and train now.". She grabs Bayaal by the arm and they leave the shop.

The two put on their armors and were pleased by the fit. Especially since they had grown so much, it had dawned on them that they forgot to ask about how she knew how big they would get. Fii made a note to herself to ask later. Bayaal, however didn't think much of it, he was too busy worried about someone trying to attack him and if his new weapon would turn on him by mistake.

As the two traveled back into the forest, Fii spoke up."Bayaal, i know where you can fine a really cool item. Want to go look for it?"

" As long as we can eat and nothing scary will happen, I'll go."

And THAT, is how the great mask adventure began!!

Frisk
Peeling back his clawed hand slowly, Frisk revealed the gleaming, laughing skull that was cut into the face of the coin.

"Ah well. That's too bad," said the nameless goblin, eyeing the coin with a smile. "Looks like you lose. Which means that I win! Time for you to take that drink then."

The goblin then slid his grey mug over to Frisk. Inside the mug was a warm, brown ale. Taking a whiff and a sniff from the cup, Frisk's nose was flooded with a sweet and full-bodied smell, with a hint of something fruity. The sweetness was balanced with an interesting, bitter smell. All in all, it smelled pretty good despite some of the nameless goblins spit being mixed in with the ale.

"Drink! Drink! Drink!" The goblin chanted.

Bayaal and Fii: The Great Mask Adventure!! Part I
Fii explained to Bayaal that to find their item they first had to cross the river, and then find a really, big rock in a field of tall grass. Simple enough, right? And the river was already right there... they just had to find a way to cross it. So the two set off on their merry adventure, following the roaring river through the huge forest as it twisted and turned until they came across a fallen tree. The tree was large enough for them cross the river but it was being guarded by four horned rabbits, and they didn't look happy to see Bayaal and Fii trying to cross their bridge.

'Boss' Rabbit: 5 HP, 1 DMG.

Horned Rabbit A: 3 HP, 1 DMG.

Frisk

Oh no! Frisk lost!

He thought he'd be more upset by this, but even losing the coin flip game had an element of fun to it. That was what made the game fun in the first place right? The fact that you could lose. It made him want to play more, and get a taste of sweet, sweet, victory. Plus the fact that his 'punishment' for losing was a brand new flavour of drink helped him not feel too sad. This game was win-win.

Frisk smiled widely as the nice older goblin slid him a mug. It had a strong, unfamiliar scent to it. That was always exciting. Frisk brought the liquid to his lips, savouring the first sip of a new drink. At first taste it was very bitter, something that would put off many other, inferior, goblins. But even bitterness was a fun experience for Frisk, the Mighty Devourer of Tastes. He pushed on through and gulped the drink down, enjoying the new experience.

Dar

After carefully harvesting the skin & bones from the dead carcasses of her victims Dar set sight on the horizon. For the first time since coming in the forest she heard at every tiny twitter & chirping of the birds that played at the high canopies of the forest. Though she was feeling alright, her warhammer still felt quite heavy, she wasn't strong enough. She had jumped into a fight unprepared, hoping her weapon would give her the edge. It may, in regards to the rabbits that usually roamed about but she was sure that she wouldn't survive against a Fey Wolverine should she encounter one.

She needed to be appropriately geared & prepared for such an encounter. A she slumbered slowly, thinking of things to do she chanced upon a pack of Horned rabbits again. Her silent stalk through the foliage afforded her a free surprise first strike. Atleast like the last time, the group of rodents won't know what hit them until one of theirs is down. She carefully placed all the items that she was carrying from the harvest near the base of the tree she was hiding behind & slowly proceeded to circle the trio as she held on the warhammer.

She bolted out of the shrubs with a roar as one swing brought about the end of one. The others reacted expectedly & that was all the window Dar needed to act. Three more rabbits were on her kill list by the time she was done. This time she had taken a horn to the thigh, she was lucky it had not hit the femur, it was through & through. She let the horn stuck in her leg to stem the bleeding. She didn't have the intention of dying yet.

With a grimace she got along her favorite part of the hunt. The harvest, she diligently began carving up her latest kill.

The first thing she needed was a bag & the second was a sharp skinning knife. The scalpel Brixx had gifted her was too crude for fine harvesting of the leather. She needed to put more effort into dismantling it. She again started with the brain as she slowly chewed the gooey awesomeness while she carefully skinned the beasts. After this, it was time to head home. She had too much stuff to carry on alone. Honing your greed was the first lesson, no one taught her that but Dar was wise that way. It was all about survival like Grandpa Floppy had said to her peers & a slow goblin usually was a dead goblin.

Goblin Brix
Fluffy and Vexx were deep in discussion when Brix approached them from behind. Unlike with Rend, a crowd hadn't formed around Brix as he made his way through the still sleeping village to the brothel-turned-nursery-turned-brothel. It was still too early for anyone besides the merchants and newborns to be up and active.

"Grandpa!" Brix announced, with a surprisingly strong voice. "I have returned from the long night, with gifts for your daughter."

Startled by Brix's sudden appearance, Fluffy jumped a few feet off the ground while Vexx stared open-mouthed in shock. She was sure the annoying, little pervert was either dead or had run off somewhere, never to be seen again -- just like so many others. But instead, here he was, standing tall and fierce before them both. Dar would swoon if she could see him now.

Walking past the still speechless Fluffy, Brix kneeled before Vexx as he presented her with a trophy from his hunt. It was the head of a large, terrormite soldier, a monster termite who's job it was to protect it's insect colony.

"For you," Brix said with his head down and arms held high. For a moment Vexx could do nothing but stare as Brix, who was now only half her size, effortlessly held up the giant insect head for her to take. Finally she did, and began eating it greedily as the creature's power flowed into her.

Finally finding himself, Fluffy took a moment to look Brix over, noting that the young goblin now had a human dagger for a weapon, which for his small size was more like a long sword, and on his sword arm was the fractured remains of a human skull, which Brix wore like a shield. In his ears were also several small bones and other trophies.

"Tell us," Fluffy said, gesturing to the other treasures Brix had brought back with him from his deadly adventure. "How did you survive the 'Forest of Death'?" Standing tall-but-short once more, Brix turned and stared at Fluffy with his bright, red eyes.

"By becoming one with death."

Frisk
"Good, good, good, good, good!" The nameless goblin chanted before taking the mug from Frisk. "Now my turn," he said before quickly flipping the coin, calling 'Skulls' again, and then slapping the treasure down on the bar. Raising his hand quickly, he revealed the carving of the crossbones instead of the one he wanted. "Oh, I loose!" The goblin quickly took a swing from the mug, burped loudly, then handed the coin and mug back to Frisk. "Your turn!"

Frisk

Frisk was feeling slightly odd. Not in a bad way, just different. He was feeling warm, fuzzy and quietly confident that he was definitely going to win this game. The strange, magical effects of whatever this drink was had made him more lucky, he could feel it in his finger tips as he picked up the coin. A gentle buzz of good luck humming throughout his entire body. He flipped the coin into the air and happily called, "Crossbones!" again. He caught the coin with little trouble and slapped it down on the counter with a satisfying 'tink' noise. Would his lucky feeling prove right? He pulled back his hand quickly, eager to find out.

Goblin Brix
Missing his chance to secure the head of the Lord of the Forest for Vexx, and not willing to settle for the fey wolverine's measly scraps, Brix stubbornly set off deeper into the Forest of Death to look for another trophy to bring back to his beloved.

The heart of the forest was a dense woodland, infested with giant spiders, huge beetles, and other monstrous insects. Brix thought about attacking the spiders at first, but he quickly realized that the cowardly creatures would only show themselves if their victory was already assured. A few of their ground-dwelling cousins seemed like a decent alternative but they too would only attack unsuspecting prey that had already wandered to close to their burrows. These beasts all left Brix with a bad taste in his mouth.

He wanted a challenge, not to go digging around in the dirt like some sort of pigman. These insects were too cowardly for him, either hiding underground, relying on camouflage to pull unweary prey to their deaths. Or hiding in the tall trees, relying on their webbing to do the same. Pfft! Brix wanted to find a worthy foe, something with true blood in their veins like the fey wolverine. Not the tree sap that flowed inside bugs. But there only seemed to be giant insects in this part of the forest, so Brix had to lower his standards and find something worthy of killing or risk returning empty handed to Vexx. Still, if he couldn't find something worthy, then he would find somethings!

Just ahead of him was a massive terrormite mound -- the size of the goblin village and three times as tall. At each entrance was a terrormite soldier standing guard. These beasts were bred for war, much like Brix, and would give their lives to defend their colony. Now these were the somethings that Brix could sink his small fangs into. But first he needed to see just how tough their hides were, to see if his horned rabbit horns were up to the challenge. If not, he would have to find something else to use.

The terrormite workers were perfect for this. They were soft and grey but their thick, yellow heads looked durable enough to test the piercing power of the horned rabbit horns. With his mind made up, Brix shadowed the throng of blind creatures as they marched around, 'looking' for resources to bring back to the nest. Careful to avoid detection and the spider webbing littered everywhere, Brix waited patiently until he noticed that a pair of terromites workers had wandered just a bit too far from the rest of their group. Seizing the moment, Brix quietly snuck up on the pair before launching himself against the nearest one.

"Sennen Goroshi!" Brix shouted as he penetrated the terrormite's bulbous backside with his rabbit horn. "One Thousand Years of Pain!!"

The surprised beast was gravely injured by the attack but just as Brix had expected, the rabbit horn wasn't enough to secure the kill -- at least, not from this angle. Before he could retreat to a safe distance, the violated animal lashed out, knocking Brix away but his quick reflexes allowed him to grab hold of the beast's antenna and pull himself back in before he was knocked too far away.

Using both hands, Brix tried to pierce the terrormite's thick head this time, but the horned rabbit horn was useless against the beast's defenses and shattered between his fingers, splintering his hand. Ignoring the pain, Brix quickly reached for a second rabbit horn as he rolled beneath the terrormite's attack and under the giant insect. There he found the soft underbelly and quickly drove the rabbit horn into the terrormite's unprotected neck.

With the first one dead, the second terrormite charged angrily forward but Brix was too quick, rolling out of the way of the attack again as he ate a black cohosh to regain some health. Using his dirty loin cloth to bandage his bloody hands, Brix reached for his last horned rabbit horn and prepared to end the life of the second terromite worker.

Using it's feelers to sense where Brix was, the worker drone raced forward again. This time however, Brix stood his ground, duel-wielding the rabbit horns as the two clashed viciously. High above, the sun slowly set in the distance, plunging the two slowly into darkness. The two were evenly matched but this was only practice for Brix, his true goal were the terromite soldiers. So once he felt he had a firm understanding of how the creatures fought, he ended the match quickly by getting behind the beast and brutally severing the large head from the rest of the body.

Frisk
"Oh no!" Frisk's drinking companion said with mock alarm. "Looks like you loose again? Well, you know the rules. Drink!" After Frisk had another swallow and put the mug down, the nameless goblin asked Frisk if he like the ale and wanted to know where and how it was made. "See, it's made in a special place by a very special person. I could show you but it would have to be our little secret, and we'd have to leave right, right now -- while everyone is still asleep. Interested?"

Dar

With the skinning complete, Dar decided that it was time to call it a day for the hunting & get about finding a place to live & a teacher to learn healing from. She can't spend gold on buying health potions or hope for luck to award her with magic leaves of recovery. They were supposed to be emergency aids. If she was to become a war machine like she wanted, she'd have to find a way to recover while she fought. That would make her unstoppable, a real asset for any team of hunters.

With her mind set she started for home. Carefully sticking close to the dense foliage as she carried on all the spoils neatly arranged by herself. It took her little time to reach the entrance, she bolted for it with all her stuff & the first place on her list was her teacher's place. She was sure that Mocharr had all the answers in the world. So she went up to the forge. She knocked on the door to announce her arrival.

"Hello Teacher!, I brought back some more stuff." she said politely as she waited for Mocharr to look towards her.

Frisk

Aww, everyone in this game was on a real losing streak! That was a shame. Frisk still hadn't tasted victory. On the other hand that meant Frisk got to have more of the tasty drink that was most definitely magical. He gulped on down a hefty mouthful, enjoying it even more than the first time. The effects of the drink was definitely settling in now. He felt a little... Wibbly. Wibbly, or Wobbly. Maybe even Wobblibbly. It was fun. He really liked this drink that the elder goblin had introduced him to. And the game that made him drink this drink was pretty alright in Frisks books too.

Setting the mug back down and sliding the coin back over Frisk payed a lot of attention as the older goblin asked Frisk if he wanted to meet the person who made the drink. Was Frisk interested in meeting the very special person, who made this special and magic drink? Did he want to visit a secret and special place to have this meeting? You know he did. "Yeah!" He said excitedly, grabbing The Rock and his rabbit skin bag full of meat. He sat there eagerly, his feet tippity-tapping on the crossbar of his bar stool, waiting to follow the mysterious goblins lead.

Rend
Akta listened patiently as Rend expressed her tear-filled desire to not be a burden to their community anymore -- likely due to some earlier mishap in the forest. Being the amoral sociopath that she was however, Akta was immune to Rend's plea to become stronger. That said, it wasn't her job to deny the young goblin the opportunity to become more powerful and find a place and purpose within their community.

"I can not give you power or a purpose," Akta explained. "Power, you must take for yourself. Purpose, you must find. Remember well, my new apprentice, within us all is the potential for greatness," Akta emphasized this point by creating a chartreuse, glowing orb that hovered just above her fingertips. The glowing orb radiated with a vibrant energy, that warmed the air around them. The orb was also accompanied by the aroma of blossoms and a breeze of fresh air. "As my master told me, so will I tell you: We can have anything we desire, so long as we're willing to sacrifice everything to get it."

Dar
"Good evening," Mocharr greeted her pupil. "How was your hunt?"

Dar responded by showing Mocharr her loot:
- 6x Complete Horned Rabbit Pelts = 18x Rawhides (Leather)
- 3x Horned Rabbit Skulls + 3x Horned Rabbit Horns + 5x Horned Rabbit Spines + 20x Horned Rabbit Leg Bones =  31x Medium Animal Bones (Bone)
- 10x Tiny Fangs
- 3x Bone Chips
- 4x Tiny Claws
- 25x Slabs of Horned Rabbit Meat
- 2x Blueberries
- 3x Carrots

It was a nice haul, worth well over two thousand gold pieces. But since Dar was now Mocharr's a pupil, it was time for her to start learning how to craft weapons. So instead of selling everything, Mocharr suggested Dar use some of the items to practice crafting weapons with.

"We'll start with something simple: a bone dagger. You have lots of good bone here for the blade and skins to make rawhide strips. Pick one of each, then get to work. The bone needs to be chiseled and sharpened, I have tools for that. For the skin: remove all the fur, meat and fat, then stretch it over the tanning rack behind the shop. The heat will dry the skin. Once it's dry, the hide will be hard at first but you can shape it by rewetting and forming the hide before allowing it to thoroughly re-dry. So wet it, cut it, then wrap it around the handle of your dagger. If you have any questions, ask. Once you're done, I will judge your work. If I like it, we can discuss your living arrangements. If I don't, you will stay here all night working."

Frisk
In a world, within a cave, inside of a rat-nest of a village: two drunk goblins set off on a quest to find the legendary brewmaster, who had the power to refill their one, true mug so that they could continue to play a drinking game!

The journey was savage and brutal. For first they had to get down off their really high bar stools, which rocked and wobbled dangerously. Then they had to get to the front door where the burning fires of the midday sun threatened to burn away their eyes balls with more burning burniness than a burrito two days later!

Once the two heroes were safely outside, they wandered around the bar, over other drunk goblins who had clearly failed in their own quest to get behind the bar. This was dangerous! Once they were behind the bar, they had to climb a fence made of bones and metal. Super dangerous!! Behind the fence was some stairs. They looked really, really high. Really dangerous!!!

Would they make it? Could they? The fate of their drinking game depended on it! For if they failed, soberness and hangovers awaited them!

Brix
Brix waited patiently as the healing herb did it's job and restored most of his strength and vitality. He still needed to find better tools to achieve success but where could he hope to find them? There was none -- no hope. He was a goblin on his own, deep in the forest after dark with nothing to protect him but his skin, his horned rabbit horns and his resolve.

With his wounds healed and stamina refilled, Brix snuck off towards the mouth of the terrormite mound. He had to be careful, alerting too many would spell his doom. So Brix was forced to waste his time throwing rocks at the soldiers, running away when they swarmed, then back to throwing rocks again. Eventually he managed to keep the attention of a single, terrormite soldier and promptly launched his attack. Because of his hit-and-run tactics, Brix didn't have the element of surprise to aide him, but his constant harassment had lowered the vitality and stamina of the terrormite soldier. His test was about to begin.

Brix
Brix and the terrormite soldier traded injuries across the battlefield, mixing red blood with yellow pus all across the hallowed arena. The terrormite soldier nailed Brix with combos that were nearly impossible for the young goblin to dodge, while effortlessly outpacing the jagged tips of Brix's horned rabbit daggers.

Despite being blind, it's large size and strange, pin-like feet, the soldier was surprisingly agile as it weaved around Brix's wicked stabs and slashes. Brix kept his cool though, too thick headed to accept defeat a second time. Instead, he devoured all of his anger, frustration and lust to feed his determination and speed.

As they dueled, the two monsters moved further and further away from the terrormite colony, and into an abandoned human village. There they created a tornado of destruction as they threw each other into the various buildings of the ancient ruin. Brix decided then to switch things up by running from building to building as he ate an embereye to recover some health. What remained of the village was pretty torn apart by this point. But inside the rubble of what remained, Brix found the key to success: a human dagger.

With a renewed sense of purpose, Brix gripped his destiny firmly between his hands and set out to find the terrormite soldier. The beast was standing on top of crumbling building, trying to locate Brix through the scent of his sweat and blood in the air. He didn't have to smell long however, as Brix soon found him and engaged the creature with his new weapon.

Within seconds, the almost feral Brix easily sheared off a good chunk of the terrormite's foreleg, sending fear and pain scurrying down it's insect spine. The retaliation was easy to anticipate and dodge, sending the terrormite crashing off the side of the building and into the bottom of another.

Brix quickly followed, leaping from the now crumbling building to land with his new dagger wedged deeply inside the back of the terrormite. The scream that followed was deafening. Brix's reply? Slashes, stabs, and gashes until there was nothing left but silence in the village once more.

Dar

A broad smile spread across Dar's face as she heard Mocharr lay out the instructions for making a dagger. It was her first class, a chance to learn something, a chance at making something. Plus, it came with an added bonus of spending time with her favorite person. From the day that Dar laid eyes on Mocharr, something had attracted her towards the white orc, she felt a certain warmth from the massive woman, kind of maternal love. Thus, she'd jump at any chance of spending more time with her.

And as far as she was concerned, Mocharr had offered her to stay with her in the Temple. The temple that housed the person Dar was most curious about. The wildly beautiful Akta, she radiated power, a kind of primal power she had sensed from the elder tree that was the centre of the temple. She knew that Akta was somehow the key to her own development. That she held all the answers that Dar would ever need in her life.

But first was the task at hand, she was to craft a dagger. A dagger that she had wanted & thought about on the hunt. One good for skinning & skewering the hunt. So she took one full rabbit pelt that lay on the table & two big femurs & set about applying the principles that Mocharr had told her. She was to first skin the beast well. Remove the meat from the leather & the hair on the outside, then she'd have to stretch it on a tanning rack & so on.

As Dar stepped inside, she could feel a slight crackle of the embers, the symphony that at once brought an immediate calm to her ecstatic mind. She was by no means stable, mind you. All the things she had fantasized about had come true all at once. The forge that beckoned her, the teacher that loved her & the tools, oh god the tools the literally cried for her to pick them up & get busy.

She picked up the chisel & hammer & cut into the Femurs that she had brought, They broke at once under her force & then she appraised them like a good blacksmith or atleast she thought that's what they do. She was looking for tiny cracks that may make the dagger brittle. After she was satisfied with a piece, she got to skinning. Diligently & carefully she shaved the hair & removed the leather, spreading it nicely on the tanning rack as she got back to her piece of bone.

To act as a good skewer, her knife should be pointy & thus she got to work with the chisel again, slowly working it into a nice point. Now the next challenge was to give it an edge. That's where she thought a shaver would come handy, after the initial work with the chisel to make the piece of the bone that was straight & flat, she got to slowly shaving away at one edge, alternating with the chisel till she was convinced that it looked sharp. She had left the base untouched for using the straps around it to make a handle.

By this time the hide was pretty dry, so she remembered her lesson & got to rewetting it & cutting straps out of it. She applied a bit of sticky adhesive and worked to cover the handle, now all that was left was to let it dry a bit before calling the teacher. Maybe she'd be proud that Dar was such a good learner. Sh felt the edge as she ran her finger over it, it didn't seem that sharp. It was still sharped than the rock that she carried but no where near something she had imagined it would be. Maybe the teacher could throw some light her way.

Once she thought she was ready she went to fetch Mocharr, slightly tugging at her skirt to get her attention. "Teacher I made something. Please take a look." she wasn't that happy with her work & hated asking Mocharr's help in such a small task but as a beginner, it was better to be open about making mistakes & asking questions than being a worthless goblin all her remaining life.

Dar
As Dar scampered away with a huge grin on her face, with some bones and a hide in her hands ready and eager to get to work on her first item, Mocharr set aside Dar's remaining items for later and closed The Red Stone for the evening. Once that was done, she grabbed a bottle of Grappa, a brandy made from grape pomace, and went outside to check on Dar's progress. Mocharr wasn't disappointed with the results. Dar was a natural and took to the task with the eye of an artist and the strength and dedication of an orc.

It was only Dar's second day but she was already showing signs of becoming a fine orc. As an orc herself, Mocharr was naturally proud and eager to welcome a new sister into their exclusive, noble club. As far as humans were concerned, orcs were brutish, aggressive, repulsive and generally a malevolent species, existing only to serve an evil power -- Mocharr disagreed of course. Orcs as a whole were savage fighters, brilliant craftsmen capable of producing works far more beautiful than the elves and excellent drinking companions. Most important of all, they prided themselves on their loyalty to their friends and to those they love or are indebted to. Proud, honorable and enduring, that was what being an orc meant to Mocharr, and she saw those same qualities in Dar.

Taking a long sip of her brandy before setting the bottle aside, Mocharr returned to her forge to continue working on her gift for Dar's Orc Day celebration. It was just a little something special for Dar when she finally ranked-up into an orc. Mocharr didn't exactly know what yet, maybe it would become a mace-sword or maybe a hammer-blade. Only time would tell. For now she would work on it day-by-day, little by little, making new adjustments to match Dar's growth and potential. For now...

"Teacher I made something. Please take a look," Dar interrupted. Mocharr put down her dwarven hammer, not bothered in the least by the break. This too would help her make a weapon that would perfectly match it's new, orc master.

Mocharr studied the bone dagger between her fingers closely, dragging the edge across her thumb to feel the blade's sharpness and strength. It was good, the best you could expect from the material used.

"Good work. Yes, very good," she said aloud. "Just a few more and you'll be ready to work with copper. Which reminds me. I'll give you some tools tomorrow, and you can go looking for the materials you'll need to get started in the forest."

Once Dar had crafted three more horned rabbit daggers, Mocharr ended their lesson for the evening and brought the little goblin home to meet Akta. Akta still had to approve of letting Dar stay with them of course, but Mocharr was confident that Akta wouldn't have issues with their new roommate. There was plenty of room and she already had her apprentice living below them, so...

"Mocharr!" A guttural and beast-like voice shouted from behind them. "I've been looking for you." It was Mok'than, another orc and Mocharr's former mate. "We should speak."

"Mok'than," Mocharr answered. "We have nothing to talk about. I told you what would happen, and you still left -- thinking you could be the first to tame King -- and now you have nothing, certainly no loyalty towards me."

"King is a prize worth having, as my mate you should have supported my attempt to claim her. It would have benefited us both to have her in our bed. There's still time to change your mind. I will even forgive you for sleeping with the snake..."

"Enough Mok'than! I do not need nor desire your 'forgiveness' and if you disrespects my mate again, I will cleave you in two -- from brains to balls! Come Dar, Akta is waiting for us." Mok'than looked down at Dar, as if only seeing her now for the first time.

"Is that your child? Did you dishonor me with another, as well as the sn..." Mocharr slapped him across the face to stop his tongue from wagging any further.

"You are no longer welcomed in my store," Mocharr said simply, ending the conversation. With that done, she picked Dar up and left Mok'than standing there, rubbing his bruised cheek and pride.

From Akta's reaction it looked like the waterworks and her little schpeel didn't have any effect. Though, from what followed afterwords, it was enough for her to be accepted as an apprentice. It's a good thing the priestess wasn't a mind reader. That wouldn't go well. On cue, her expression brightened when informed that Akta would take her on as an apprentice. Nodding at what she said, "If it means becoming stronger, to obtain my true d-desire. I-I'm more than willing to sacrifice everything to obtain it." she said with strong determination. .....or everyone.

Of course she didn't say that last part.

Brix
With the terrormite soldier finally dead, Brix let out a roar of triumph that shook the very foundations of the dilapidated buildings all around him. Victory -- sweet victory was his. Bittersweet though it was, this was still an achievement to be proud of. This wasn't the prey he wanted or felt Vexx deserved, but he would make do with what he had. The experience alone had already made him stronger, and more powerful. So better trophies weren't too far behind. For now, he'll skin and peel and chop and sever until there was nothing left he could use of the terrormite. Then he would rest, prepare and hunt once more. This time, he would journey deep into the terrormite nest to see if these insects had any treasure worthy protecting.

"So what happened next?" Vexx asked when Brix didn't continue. She was just finishing off the head of the terrormite soldier. The taste wasn't particularly a pleasant one, but she was open to trying anything new that could hopefully unlock her rank-up.

"Oh... Nothing really," Brix lied. "I just covered myself in terrormite guts to hide my scent, snuck passed the soldiers, found some stuff, killed another soldier, then slept until dawn. And now I'm here."

Fluffy and Vexx knew Brix was hiding something from them. He had been too eager to brag about his exploits, when he suddenly decided to end the story -- almost as if he just remembered something important, something he shouldn't tell them. What had he found, what had he seen or heard? Fluffy exchanged looks with Vexx and both agreed silently that she would have to take Brix aside to squeeze the information from him. For now, they would play along and let the tale hang where it stood.

"Indeed? That's quite amazing!" Fluffy replied. "Perhaps tonight you'll share your tale with the rest of the village? I'm sure our warriors will love hearing your tale glory, and death! For now though, I must return to my home and rest. Vexx will help you with items and with finding a new home. The nursery is only for newborns, and you are clearly no longer a child. Farewell."

Dar

Though she hoped for the best, in her heart she was prepared for criticism. She knew her teacher was pretty forthright when it came to things, that was her most endearing quality. So, when she praised her work Dar's grin spread from ear to ear. She was beyond happy, it has only been two days but she had seen that others her age had avoided her with the exception of Brixx. Maybe she wasn't good to look at but from what she gathered looking at others. They looked all the same or maybe it was all in her head. But for the first time, she felt loved. It was a feeling she can get used to, she thought.

As Mocharr expressed the progression of what was to come, Dar couldn't help but get excited. She'd get her own tools! that was amazing, she had hoped that by gradually proving her worth to her teacher she'd be slowly trusted with stuff but to think that her teacher thought so highly of her only meant that from now on, she'd be even more diligent & sincere. She was entrusted with a rare opportunity, to be of use to her colony at large. To command respect if she did her job well, she felt even more strongly about Mocharr. She may not have known her mother, but if she was anything like Mocharr, she'd just jump around with joy.

After she helped Mocharr tidy up the place & close down for the day, she had the opportunity to have the best ride. Mocharr carried her to the temple in her arms, she just wrapped her little muscled arms around the white orc & laid her head on her shoulder, much like a little child, all the while a stupid grin pasted on her face. You could tell she was enjoying every moment of it.

On their way they were interrupted by a tall, muscled man. Much bigger than Fluffy, frankly he was the largest one she had seen since birth. With four jagged teeth jutting out of his jaw & wearing a waist girdle of heavy bone armor, he spoke in a gruff tone to her teacher. She was instinctively put down from her perch as she scampered behind her teacher, peering from her side. He looked a bit angry.

As their spat ended she saw her teacher loosing temper for the first time as she moved quickly to close down the distance between them & land a slap across his square jaw, then she turned imperiously & picked up Dar, once again back on her beloved perch & marched straight to the temple. Dar looked on back at the Orc that was called Mok'than, rubbing his cheek & looking on. In a moment of instinct she wagged her tongue at the brute making her most ghastly face before quickly looking the other way.

"Who was that, teacher? I never saw you get angry before? Please calm down." she whispered in her ear as she placed a kiss on her cheek before resting her head back on Mocharr's shoulder.

Frisk

The road was as long as the walk was hard. Very. But Frisk would not be deterred. Step after grueling step he marched beside his new drinking friend, and finally, eventually, they burst out into the harsh light of day. Frisk had done it. He had made it out of the tavern. One small victory for a young goblin, but a giant leap for all goblin-kind. He felt sure people would be talking of this day for all time. The time that Frisk and his new friend had faced the door courageously and stepped outside. The door of courage they would call it. Frisk was mightily proud of himself as he stood there swaying slightly in the doorway. And then he realized his mission was not yet complete.

The friendly older goblin led him around the side of the bar, towards the back of the building. Carefully, so as not to incur any drunken wrath, Frisk and the older goblin wove their way through the minefield of the poor lost souls who had failed in the very same mission Frisk was now attempting. This was risky. Instinctively Frisk knew that if he fell now he wouldn't get back up. He would join these poor fellows in their restless slumber, waiting to snap out at anyone who disturbed them too much. This was the time for stealth.

The task to be quiet proved to be an even trickier task than expected. Still, Frisk was drunk and confident in his abilities. He was also being much louder than he thought as they clambered drunkenly over the rattling bone fence. Luckily those poor fallen souls were also drunk. The few that brought themselves to peer angrily at Frisk lost their will to murder him when they saw how much effort that fence looked like it would take to climb.

Having made it through the tavern door of courage, past the field of lost souls, and over the fence of the fallen, Frisk felt confident in his future, proud of his achievements, and eager to continue on his journey. Until he turned around and saw... them... The Stairs of Neverendingstairiness. With a grimace and a nod at the older goblin, Frisk and his new friend began to tackle the new challenge before them. They walked ever onwards and ever upwards. To where, Frisk didn't know, but he knew one thing in his gut. One thing that was true. The adventure must continue.

"Good," Akta replied, closing her eyes slowly while her 'hair' danced above her head. "But before I can teach you any spells," she continued after awhile as she slowly opened her eyes again. "We must first nurture the spark sleeping deep within you until it is a roaring inferno. The quickest way to do this, is to simply immerse your self in unfettered magic. Your first task will be an easy one: bring me 10x black cohosh roots and 5x embereyes seeds."

"The black cohosh is about twice your size with a long, smooth stem. The leaves are large and sharp, usually arranged in sets of three around the stem. The flowers are white and have no petals. They also have a distinctly sweet, fetid smell that attracts flies, gnats, and beetles. You only need the roots, but I won't scold you if you decide to bring the rest of the plant. They can be found almost anywhere in the forest."

"Embereyes on the other hand, only grow where fire has scorched the earth. To the west, deep within the forest, you will find an abandoned, human village. We destroyed it many years ago and set fire to the remains. You should find them growing there. Embereyes have a circular arrangement of large, thick, fleshy, red leaves. Not only that, but they glow and radiate warmth. Be careful, when in the heart of the forest, or else you will end up as a spider's dinner. Giant spider dwell within the heart of the forest. If you get caught in their webs, you will never escape."

"Your second task will be to bring me back a log capable of producing a wand. Only a minority of trees can produce wand quality wood, and it takes years of experience to tell which ones have this gift. Luckily for you however, I know where such a tree is. Head down the mountain, keeping the waterfall on your left, until you reach the sea. There you will find a large stone that I have blessed. You will know the stone by the circle in it's belly. Touch the stone and the magic inside will lead you to the second- and third stones. Touch all three and the garden will be revealed to you. If the magic rejects you, then don't bother returning to me. Speak to Mocharr the blacksmith when you're ready. She will give you an axe to harvest the wood -- do not kill the tree, or I will kill you. Just bring me back a branch."

Dar
Mocharr and Dar arrived at Akta's temple just as the sun was setting, plunging the cave into darkness once more. Quickly setting Dar down once they were inside, Mocharr quietly sneaked over to where Akta was meditating and planted a loud, wet kiss on her cheek. Akta responded by 'attacking' Mocharr with her tentacles, which only made Mocharr giggle and laugh.

Once the couple had stopped teasing each other, Mocharr ushered Dar over and introduced Dar to Akta, explaining that Dar wanted to learn from them both and needed a place to stay. Instead of introducing herself, Akta instead walked over to inspect Dar's previous wounds as well as begin bandaging the news one.

"You were here last night," Akta stated. "And now you're injured again. You'll have to get stronger if you want to survive in this world. So what exactly is it that you were hoping to learn from me?"

Frisk
Frisk and No-name made their way up the winding staircase as it wiggled beneath their feet like a dancing snake. No-name threw his arms up in protest, trying to keep his balance, but the wind howled and raged all around them, making his task difficult.

"You. Shall. Not. Pass," the wind seemed to whisper in their ears, but Frisk and No-name held strong and persevered.

Finally at the top of the staircase, No-name reached into his pouch and almost as if by magic, produced a large key. The magic key fit into the golden lock that sat in the middle of the wooden door that sat high above the rest of the village. Through the lock, Frisk could see the light of a warm fireplace.

Putting the key into the lock, No-name asked Frisk if he was ready before slowly unlocking the door. Quickly and quietly, he ushered Frisk inside before locking the door behind them. Frisk didn't know it yet but they had just snuck inside King's bedroom -- the last place a goblin wanted to be unless King had personally invited you to be there.

King's bedroom was decorated with all sorts of weapons and armors. Most she had commissioned from Mocharr, the rest were trophies from her various kills. Amongst the weapons and armor were also claws and fangs from creatures Frisk hadn't even seen yet. In the far corner of the room was King's bed. Sitting on her bed was a frightened-looking human. This was the brewmaster Frisk and No-name had come to see.

No-name turned to Frisk and explained simply that in order for them to get more of the sweet, sweet beer that they wanted to drink, they would have to kill the human. His blood was the secret ingredient in the drink, so they needed it before they could continue with their quest. Since he and Frisk had become such good friends, No-name offered Frisk his dagger so he could have the honor -- after all, they were friends now.

"Cut him open and take his heart," No-name said. "With it, we can make at least four mugs of the special drink we both like so much. Four! Two for me, and two for you! With that many, we can play an all-new game."

Brix
Vexx helped Brix find Mocharr's shop as she covertly questioned him about his adventures. Fluffy was also busy trying to discover Brix's secret as he sent a group of scouts to go deep into the forest to find the terrormite mound. Whatever secrets there were, he would have them for himself. Unaware of the situation, Brix was just happy to spend time with Vexx. It was only just yesterday when Vexx looked like she couldn't care less about Brix. And now here she was, very interested in him and his adventures. Just thinking about it made Brix blush.

Once they had arrived at Mocharr's shop, Brix showed Mocharr what he was willing to sell and she gave him his reward for not dying -- some armor and weapons. Tired now, having not slept for most of the night, Brix decided to go out and find a hole to sleep in. Vexx however, had a different idea...
