A bit late, but can I clarify a few things:

  • When you say we are in a holding pattern, we are simply moving around a path somewhere above the path of the Tradesman, correct?
  • Are there clouds obscuring anything right now? Referring to Hawk's post. Since we're in the desert, I assumed most clouds to be wispy and about 20k feet high.
  • With both points above, how exactly are we hiding from the Sky Scorps? Are we trying to surprise the pirates at all?

ty~   >////<

The Dagger is currently keeping a steady speed roughly 1000 feet above the Tradesman, hiding in the glare of the midday sun, so any ships that approach from the mountains will only see the merchants. There are some scattered clouds of varying thickness about, but not really enough to obscure a ship by themselves. The plan is to be eyes in the sky for the Tradesman, and if the Scorps appear to intercept them as they move in on the transport.

Should be a pretty simple & clean engagement, the Scorps aren't actually that difficult an enemy. They just hide in the mountains really well and the Navy is too lazy to spend the time or resources to go flush them out.

That's why we are going. Because we can do the dirty stuff fast and we only need the main group of us badasses in training.

You're actually going because the owners of the Tradesman contracted you. Going around the Azurian Orebors will make them miss a shipment deadline, and the Navy won't give them a military escort.

O.o

What Slice said, we're essentially licensed mercenaries.

Sorry Slicey for bringing this up this late and you may have mentioned it somewhere else but I am on my phone x{

But what kind of tech can we write about in artillery and gun bay? Is it Spanish Supremacy age or Early English Supremacy or Late English Supremacy or Post Imperator - Pre Dreadnought?

The guns are another instance of the mystic steampunkishness. They have the general look of cannons you would see in the early 1800s on English ships, but where the fuse would be there's a permanent rune engraved that's used to fire them. Rather than cannonballs and powder, the guns charge and then launch a large bolt of arcane energy that remains stable until it impacts something (like an opposing ship) or flies a certain distance (in this case about 300 yards), and then it explodes. There's also a removable cover at the back so that Weavers can apply their talents (the amplifier runes that make the blast large and explosive work with their stuff. Amp Runes are the only ones that they can "use").

As for how the system operates, I'll leave that to your discretion DR. You want everything moved manually by the Gun Deckhands, that's how it is. You want a pretty console at the aft of the bay that lets you personally aim the cannons while the hands do the firing on your command, that's fine too. Just don't go crazy (and I'll let you know if you do)

Manta, similar deal with the steering. Can be a classic ships wheel, can be a more futuristic thing, whatever you like.

Amped up Annaveya cannonade. Me likey.

Though she's probably better suited airborne and harassing enemy ships/crews.

I'd rather not be. Much like myself, my character prefers the solitude of staying inside all day, pondering the meaning of life, over getting sunshine.

Now now children, play nicely.

I'll make sure he has things to do during the pertinent sections. Truth be told, time spent on shiply duties like this will be minimal; it's needed for flavor, but it's also rather repetitive and mundane (I'm sure Rogue would rather I not shut him in the engine room all RP, as an example). When it is required, I'll be trying to make it somewhat interesting.

Just to be clear, what Fifi had her gun crew do was a mock exercise with no actual shots fired. It was all make believe.
