Alright - took a different approach to this.

Name: Jerome Martell

Age: 26
Gender: Water - I mean, Male. 

Race: Human 
Height/Weight: 6'6, 180lb - a gangly piece of work. 

History: 
Jerome hails from the island of Asclapeion in the West Blue and one of seven children of Walt and Norma Martell. Walt was a nurse and pediatrician while Norma was a trained brain surgeon and psychologist focused on development. Asclapeion was an island long reputed for its absolute political and strategical immunity, being a heaven of medecine and scientific advancement. Anyone sick, wounded, or desperate for a cure could make their way to the island and hope to be treated. The island is dominated by institutions devoted to health, recuperation, and the advancement of the knowledge of the human (and other species) body and its many shortcomings. Citizens of Asclapeion are also expected to make a pilgrimage across the oceans to spread their knowledge and expertise. It is considered, or was, by many to be one of the brightest lights of civilization to shine in these barbarous seas.
 
Unfortunately, that neutrality was easier to enforce when the island had the full force of the West Blue Marine Force in the neighbourhood. With the retreat of the navy, the island became virtually defenseless and for a time, it became occupied by a many groups of rogues, looters and pirates, jeopardizing the very way of life the island had enjoyed for so long. 
Those were dark times. Many good people die pointlessly in pitiful acts of defiance or resistance against the pirates. 25 years ago there was a massive exode - many of those who had not fled with the Marine forces did so now, risking their life to try and cross the Red Line to seek safety. What happened to them, we do not know. Contact from beyond the Red Line is a thing of the past. Those who remained became more zealous in upholding the ideal of their ancestors and developed a pseudo-military culture to supplement their devotion to medicine and science - but in doing so betrayed some of their own precepts, notably - thou shalt not harm. Using their vast knowledge of diseases, they became experts in biological warfare and soon they became a terror to all pirates in the region. 
 

This new found aggressivity, unfortunately, turned out to be a double edged sword. Their early success against the local riff raff and even serious armadas caught the attention of a powerful pirate - "Saw" Shank and his Saw Pirates. He was a man of supernatural powers and he and his crew of vicious marauders laid siege to the island, captured it, and massacred the last stronghold against there power in the region. 

 

Jerome, along with most of his family, was one of the few survivors of this calamity. His father and mother became simple village doctors on a small island. His parents, having had their share of adventure for a lifetime, were more than content to lead a peaceful lives in what they hoped was a forgotten corner of the West Blue. But Jerome had an adventurous spirit and he longed to imitate the pilgrimage of his ancestor. Learning the trade of doctor under his parents and older siblings, he eventually left the island to join a group of adventurers and law-keepers that were organizing themselves in the the outer blues - the Black Flags. Throwing his lot with the group, he joined as a medical officer (if a somewhat inexperienced one - but with a rather peculiar specialization). 

 

Jerome is a fervent believer in the old ethos of his people. He never seeks to harm anyone, either physically, emotionally, or psychologically. His whole fighting style is close to Judo in spirit, in that he will try to overcome his enemy in a way that is not detrimental to either him or his enemy. He his cheery, personable, and has a massive sweet tooth. If there is something that angers him deeply, though, it is injustice and evil - especially the abuse of the defenseless.

[Ito Ito No Mi - String String Fruit] Jerome came into possession of this fruit by coincidence. He and his brothers and sisters were exploring a shipwreck on the island and found quite a few treasures among the wreckage. Among them was a fruit hidden in a chest. Unsure about the nature of the thing, Jerome accepted a dare to try and taste the weird looking fruit. He said it wasn't much for taste but it was rather stringy in texture. Little did he know he had partaken of the fruit that had made the renown of one of the most notorious criminal of a previous era. Unsurprisingly, in his hands the fruit and its power assumed very different properties. 

 

Techniques:

[Stitch] Using his strings, Jerome can attach and re-attach limbs to himself and others. He can also use his strings to detach and control his own limbs. 

 

[Restrain] Jerome creates a thick, sentient rope to restrain an opponent. The more the opponent struggles, the more the rope will constrict harder.

 

[String Shield] Jerome creates a shield of latticed string to protect himself. Very durable, mostly thanks to its ability to disperse energy across the string structure.

Age: 31
Gender: Male

Race: Human
Height/Weight: 5'11"/155 lbs.

History: Gus was a political dissident on his home island. Mostly because he liked blowing things up. Growing up in a land divided by constant strife and civil wars will do that to a kid, I guess. He was a clever kid with a knack for explosives, and thanks to his work, there was a considerable shift in power on the island. Eventually the constant bomb threats led to an armistice, after which there was a great deal more peace in the land. It was inconceivable almost, but the two factions had come to an agreement. Gus had no idea how; he was just the guy with the bombs, he didn't know anything about the politics involved. All he knew was that he was out of a job.

 

He did not adjust to peace well. It was boring. He didn't enjoy things that were peaceful and pleasant, and though there was still a great deal of after-war tension, no one wanted to stir up any trouble--except poor Gus. Soon enough his bomb-crafting hobbies were seen as an evil thing, and it was made clear to him that there was no room for a war-crazed man like him on their peaceful island. Now labeled a war criminal, Gus slipped off the island clandestinely one night, never to be seen on those shores again.

 

After some time, he found a place where the trouble never ended, where he could feel at home. That was among the Black Flags, freedom fighters of dubious morals. Here, there was always a use for explosives--as it should be.

Uhm, I think you're confusing that with Geyter's RP. Tobi, a Fishman NPC, called DF users anchors. But in the manga, in Chapter 1 Luffy wore a shirt that had the word anchor and the Red-haired Pirates called him an anchor because he couldn't swim and that was prior to him eating the rubber fruit. Started rereading the series a few days ago and just noticed that.

@Vaf: Character is fine, but I don't think I can accept Stitch. It seems like a high-level skill the whole detaching his own limbs feels like something the String Fruit wouldn't be able to do.

@ Rob - Stitch is kind of the centerpiece of that character, though. Like, I came up with that first and then build around it. I wanted to push the string string fruit in another direction, so instead of manipulating people I can do Kakuzu and Franken Fran stuff with it.

@Vaf If it's attaching other limbs, that fine but the whole detachment of your own limbs and them still being functional seems to be something under then the Ope Ope Fruit.

Edit: Scratch that. Just read more about the fruit and remembered all the bs stuff Doflamingo was able to do. Maybe you could do the whole Kakuzu later on, when you get stronger? If you wanna be able to do it now, just tone it down. Limit the range of detachment and stuff. I don't know. Something like that.

 It would be pronounced oo-rin, but I think that the two o's look funny and I'm not accenting the u as ú, I did that with Bratumił(Ł) and regret it.

For sure. I mean, I don't plan on going full Buggy or anything. More like... I dunno... Sally from the Nightmare before Christmas? Like right about now I could only control one hand/arm separately from my body. Or my head. But only one part at time is the key for now.

I think I'm gonna do without the perk section. I don't think it would have that much to offer given the stat system we're using.

Hmm, it could be used for special equipment like the Meito swords (like equpping them increases certain stats or maybe grants special skills/techniques) or something like the line of special/unique passive abilities or something that other players won't be able to get or whatever.
