Midnight Blue: A One Piece RP

 

This story takes place after the Silver Age of Monkey D. Luffy as Pirate King and “The Hero” Coby as Fleet Admiral. Following an age of romanticism, adventure and relative peace, this age is a fairly dark one. This new age of piracy came along with it new waves of pirates, criminals, and outlaws, ravaging the seas like never before. The Tenryuubito, frightened with the changes in time and the world below them, sought security and protection. With a mutual agreement with the Gorousei, they ordered the World Government to announce that the last stronghold of justice, the Marines, were to flee and begin to rebuild themselves within the confines of the Red Line; thus leaving the Four Seas lawless and unprotected, their only option being to fend for themselves as best they can. Separating themselves from the rest of the world, the ties of the World Government and Tenryuubito with individual kingdoms slowly disappeared.

 

If one would think that without an organization to protect and govern over the seas, crimes and other unlawful acts would send the world into a complete state of pandemonium ruled by pirates, they would be right. Yet silently lurking in the shadows, was the formation of an organization of elites. Rumors of their presence were whispered within all realms and circles of power: Piracy, the World Government, the Marines, and Kingdoms of any affiliation alike; the Black Flags. Upon the ordered reformation of the Marines, despite their lack of sufficient manpower and resources, they were forced to step out of hiding, revealing themselves openly to the world as a worldwide police force rather than a company of powerful soldiers for war.

 

Your Role In the Story

Now 50 years into the future, you find yourself within the ranks of the Black Flags, an uprising organization that has only existed for just over a decade. Members of the Black Flags range from former marines, ex-pirates, reformed criminals, bounty hunters, and other individuals from all walks of life who have banded together to achieve one common goal; to prevent the world from plunging into complete chaos. Your role in this story is to play a freshly enlisted recruit who will eventually rise through the ranks of the organization. Hopefully, you would be able to contribute to the restoration of peace throughout the seas or at least make a name for yourself in the process.

Name: What you want people to call you. If it helps, it doesn't necessarily need to make sense.
Age: Although frowned upon, I’d beat up the elderly and children if needed.
Gender: Whatever floats your boat.

Race: There are a bunch you can choose from but you can create your own if you want; just give me a heads up first.
Appearance: Since my imagination sucks, I'd prefer pretty images please.
Height/Weight: You’re never too tall or heavy. So yeah, tell me.

History: Doesn't have to be that long; two paragraphs would probably suffice. Just so you guys know, the standard requirements for becoming a marine was toned down. They’ll take anyone as long as they’re competent.

Skills and Techniques: You start off with one skill for now. (Ex. Swordsmanship, Archery, a Devil Fruit, being a Cyborg, et cetera.) and three technique points. Also, I'm temporary banning Mythical Zoans and Logias. Eventually, you may get these fruits but as of now, they're just to strong to start with. If you feel strongly against this decision, feel free to contact me so that we can talk about the character you plan on making.

System

I’ll be utilizing the same system employed in Dude/Mors and Pitou’s/Katia's Crimson Century RP. Some alterations were made, but its basically the same thing. The only change I made was the part regarding Skills and Techniques.

As mentioned in the Character Sheet, Skills refer to the things your character can do. Other examples would include medicine, carpentry, navigation, and marksmanship. Unlike Crimson Century, you won’t be investing points into these skills. Instead, they would just scale off your stats.

Now for Techniques. I’ll be giving out points that you can use to learn specific moves based on the skills that you have. If we take Zoro as an example, his skill would be Santoryu and a technique under this would be Oni Giri. Like you skills, techniques would also scale with your stats. The only techniques you would spend points on are combat-based ones. The only exception to this is when I require you to. Using Chopper as an example, his skill would be Medicine. To administer first aid and have knowledge on human anatomy wouldn’t require points. Just take your stats into consideration, look at your character, and ask yourself “Would he/she be able to do this?” I’ll trust your judgment, just don’t abuse it. If its creating some super-powered medicine, like the Rumble Balls, then that would definitely require a point; maybe several points but we’ll talk about that when we get there.

Stats are pretty simple so I’ll just list them down. When I say list them down, I mean copy whatever is written in Crimson Century. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

• Strength is how much force your body can exert. Basically encompasses physical strength and movement speed
• Agility is how fast you can move your body. This would include reaction time, reflexes, flexibility, and evasiveness
• Endurance deals with how long you can last and the amount of damage you can take. So yeah, defense and stamina
• Dexterity pertains to accuracy, skill, and technique. Under this would include aiming, fighting technique, landing critical blows, and whatnot
• Willpower refers to focus, concentration, defense against metal attacks, and how long you can last despite exhaustion.

We can categorize a lot more things under each stat but that would just create a clutter of text. If something is unclear, feel free to ask via OOC, PM, or Skype.
