Crimson Century
Crimson Century was originally created by St Peter.
Hopefully one day we'll see him again
Chapter 0 – Blood in the Water
Atropos stared carefully into the image reflected in the black water. What was shown beneath her was not a reflection of herself, but instead a complete picture of Memorium. From her nest she could see everything from the vampire queen’s throne room to the labs deep beneath the alchemist guild. She saw the city’s past when it was a warzone of never ending blood shed and suffering, an she saw the dark echoes of its future.
“It’s hopeless,” she said.
“You can see everything, but still you are blind,” spoke the man behind her. A rather plain looking human with silver hair wrapped in his dark cloak.
“Gyahahaa!” Atropos let out a deep laugh. “Watch your tongue boy. If not for your pact you would be dead where you stand.”
“Look at them,” she beckoned her hand towards the imagine in the water “Insects wandering aimlessly, ignorant and without purpose. Soon the entire city will drown in a sea of blood. Do you truly think you can save them?”
The man said nothing, and the two continued to watch the water’s image in silence for several more moments. Then the man suddenly cut a ripple into the water with his sword and the image disappeared.
“The future is not carved in stone. It ebbs and flows like water. It can be saved.”
Atropos let out another cackle. “Even if that’s true, it will all be for nothing. They cannot live together peacefully. They are doomed to fight until they have all killed each other off!” she said gleefully.
But her words didn’t get through to him, as he already left the cave as silently as when he first arrived.
“Bah, insufferable man. I hope you at least provide a good show before you die!” She shouted out the cave’s entrance.

Spoiler
The world is not meant to be shared. This has always been the ideology shared by each of the three races inhabiting it. Humans, who had strength in numbers and in spirit, their creativity and tenacity constantly pushing them to ever-greater heights. Vampires, beautiful and elegant immortal creatures of darkness with the power to enthrall others to their will. Lycans, prideful shapeshifting warriors with unrivaled physical strength and ferocity. From the earliest etchings of history it has presumed that the three races have fought one another, though such records have long been lost amidst eons of bloodshed and chaos.
As time passed, strife between the three races became more frequent and violent. In the last war, a hundred year feud that would later be referred to as the Crimson Century, the world would come to an end. Each race suffered devastating losses and most of the world’s population was destroyed alongside its cities and monuments. But from the ashes of the old world, a new one would be reborn anew, ushering a new period of shaky peace after several lifetimes of conflict.
Cooperation between the three races would become realized with the foundation of Memorium, a city in central Europe that was at one time the center of fighting during the Crimson Century, that would become the first ever territory where the three races would co-exist. But as it turns out, an era of constant bloodshed was not so easily forgotten after something as trivial as the end of the world. Though it put up a front of peaceful cooperation to the eyes of the rest of the world, the situation in Memorium was anything but.
You will be playing as a member of one of the three races, living in Memorium several decades after the apocalypse the marked the end of the Crimson Century. Though there is still peaceful cooperation between the three races, the peace is shaky at best. Though the leaders of each faction are trying to maintain the status quo, tension inside the city has reached its peak, and there is talk in the streets of a new war starting again.

The City of Memorium
Spoiler
Though Memorium was established as a front of cooperation between the three races, for the most part they do not actually live amongst each other. The structure of the city most closely resembles a three-layered ring – with each race occupying one layer. On a small enclave at the city’s center lives the population of vampires, led by their Queen. The vampires living in the richest section of the city that was least scarred by the war, despite being the smallest group in the city, is a large source of the discontent of the two other races. At the very heart of the city is the vampire castle, from where their monarch lives and rules from. Surrounding them, occupying the majority of the city, are the humans who hold over four times the population of the vampires and over double the population of the lycans. Apart from the few lycans working as servants for humans or vampires, most do not actually live within Memorium itself, but rather in scattered tribes outside the city’s border.
Architecturally, Memorium is a mix of gothic, art nouveau, and victorian era with a splash of post-apocalyptic ruin in certain areas of the city. The technology in some aspects is highly advanced, such as the Alchemist Guild, though for the most part everything is done old school (think Renaissance period) with the means of reproducing most modern technologies lost during the Crimson Century. Things like rifles and vehicle do exist, and would be a lot like WW1 era technology, though they mostly exist as remnant artifacts of the Crimson Century and are thus very rare and mostly limited to members of the Church.
Important Locations:
Notre Dame – The headquarters for the Church operations in Memorium. A massive cathedral located in the northwestern sector of the city.
Alchemist Guild – A tall isolated building in the middle of Memorium’s north section and the main research facility for blood alchemy.
Crusader’s Barracks – The quarters for the Church’s crusaders, located right next to Notre Dame.
Castle Black – The home of the Vampire Queen located in the middle of the vampire territory in the very middle of the city.
The River – The river that runs through the center of Memorium, separating the human territory into northern and southern sections.
City Wall – Memorium’s borders indicated by a tall stone wall enclosing the landed portions of the city. It is patrolled and police by the city guard rather than members of the Church.
Outskirts – The human settlements and homes scattered outside of Memorium. They are often terrorized by Lycan raids.
Grey Cave – An enormous tunnel located in the mountain outside and the home of the Grey Tribe, the largest group of lycans based near Memorium.

Humans
Spoiler
Humans are your typical mortal folks. Most humans wouldn’t stand a chance in a fight against a vampire or a lycan, but there are those specially trained to combat their inhuman foes. Humans begin with 30 stat points and 50 skill points. Humans can invest skills into either Holy Arts or Blood Alchemy - not both. Typically the the Alchemists and the Crusaders tend to keep away from one another due to rivalry.
Holy Arts are techniques powered by faith, used by members of the Church. Holy energy can be used to empower themselves or allies, and can even manifest itself into physical form. Crusaders, the elite military force of the Church, can shape holy energy into weapons such as swords or bows or form shields and divine barriers to defend themselves.
Blood Alchemy is a recent technique discovered by the Alchemist Guild, a scientific research division of the Church. Blood alchemists are able to use their blood as a catalyst and manipulate its structure or energy. With blood alchemy they able to do things like turn their blood into iron or water, and more accomplished blood alchemists can use their blood to become flames or even form familiars out of it. Note that blood alchemists can only use their own blood, though it does not have to be freshly spilt. Most will use vials to carry around previously drawn blood for use.

Vampires
Spoiler
Vampires are psychic predators who feed off the blood of other species. As such, they have naturally looked at the other two races as nothing but food to be used like cattle, which was part of the reason their conflict with the others was so inevitable. Although there has been bizarre occurrences where Vampires have converted humans into a servile vampiric state, Vampires are usually born the normal way. Vampires begin with 40 stat points and 40 skill points. Vampires can invest skills into Transformation and Domination.
Transformation is a Vampire’s natural ability to tap into their demonic forms. Unlike a Lycan’s shapeshifting, vampires usually still retain most of their original appearance. With this ability they can form things like claws, horns, or wings to use in physical combat.
Domination is a Vampire’s ability to extend their mental will over others. As such they can have complete mind control over unintelligent creatures, create illusions, or cause others to feel ill. Willpower is especially important in both asserting and resisting Dominance

Lycans
Spoiler
]
Lycans are shapeshifting monsters that rely on their natural bestial instinct to survive. They were the race that was least adept at using technology, and fell behind the others during the Crimson Century to a point where a large portion of their population were turned into slaves for vampires. They are ferociously strong and are the most physically capable of the three races. Lycans start with 50 stat points and 30 skill points. Lycans can invest skills into Shapeshifting and begin with an Overdrive.
Shapeshifting is a Lycan’s ability to fully transform their bodies into the form of a beast. The form they take is usually reflective of their tribe, though almost every Lycan tribe living among the outskirts of Memorium will take the form of a wolf.
Overdrive is an ability unique to Lycans while in their beast form. They go into a frenzied bloodthirsty state and can gain individual abilities ranging from a simple increase in physical ability, to regeneration, to creating thick armor or secreting poison. This ability is tiring but strong

///Character Creation
Can I be a hybrid? Half of one race, half of another?
No
My guy was bitten and became a vampire and now he hates all vampires and he's dark and edgy. Is this okay?
Vampires are born, not made. They come into the world screaming and looking for a tit to suckle.
Very rarely are vampires created through blood exchange and those ones are weaker then normal. These vampires are called Fiends.
Can I be something other than human-vampire-lycan?
Very very likely no, but shoot me a PM just in case
Can I be Race X working for Race Z (in example, a lycan working for humans)?
Yes, but you'd need to have a solid background explaining why
Can I be a lycan with human stats (in example) or vice versa?
No
Can I be a lycan with human skills (in example) or vice versa?
No
Can I have two characters?
With some unique exceptions, not at the present time. It's been a long time since I have GM'd, Mors is often busy and the RP has two dozen members. It's too much for me to keep track of.
If dual-characters becomes available, the characters will have special rules, such as they must never help one another.
Can I be closely related to a major NPC?
Please ask me in more detail first, so you don't write up a big backstory only to be rejected. Personally I like it, but Mors doesn't and he's got story control. So yeah please discuss prior to making character
My character is entirely apathetic to all this and doesn't care
I have done this before and it is my biggest regret in roleplaying. Seriously, as a GM there is little to nothing I can do for you if you're gonna go down this route. It's boring as hell.
///Skills and stats
How often can I increase what my skills can do
Raw points dictate how strong a skill is; roughly every 25 points and you can add another facet to it
My power is the ability to cancel out other powers
No it isn't.
This is literally the most boring ability you could possibly create.
My power makes me immune to Domination and Blood Phantasm
No it doesn't.
Only creatures that don't have free will are entirely immune. If you lose free will, you turn into an NPC.
My lycan/vampire power is immune or makes me immune to natural Holy/Blood Alchemy weaknesses
No it doesn't.
Humans are at a massive weakness to vampires and lycans. I won't allow you to ignore their one strength because you're a coward.
Can I save my skill points and then upgrade my skills mid-scene?
Yes actually you can. Be careful with this because making rash decisions leads to regret.
What are those hidden techniques?
Abilities long forgotten or considered merely myth. They cannot be chosen or started with; one must attain them during the RP. Don't ask for them.
Could you give me more detail on what the stats actually do?
Strength is force of limb. It is the sheer exertion you can put into each action you make.
Agility is speed of limb. It is how fast your body moves, your reflexes and flexibility.
Dexterity is skill, talent and technique. Aiming, fighting technique and scoring critical hits are it's domain.
Endurance is simple; it is how long you can go without exhaustion and how much damage you can take.
You want to win a race, take Strength. You wanna lift a car, take Strength. You wanna jump through the air majestically like a bird with a jetpack, take Strength
You want to move like Bruce Lee's wet dream, take Agility. You want to dodge four attacks at once and hit them all back, take Agility. You want to catch bullets, take Agility
You want to snipe some dude, take Dexterity. You wanna kill several birds with half a stone, take Dexterity. You wanna win a sword fight with a butterknife, take Dexterity
You want to never run out of batteries, take Endurance. You want to take a hit and keep moving, take Endurance. You wanna take 14 stab wounds and retort with "you merely pierced my belly fat and left kidney! Ha ha!", take Endurance
An ordinary everyday human is about 5 in each field.
///In the RP
Can I attack other players?
If it makes sense in an RP context, yes.
PvP combat gives awards like boss battles and missions
Can I punch the boss?
You can try to punch the boss. Whether or not you hit is my decision.
Basically any character I don't mention is "autodefeatable" cannot be automatically hit.
Can I do something crazy, like backstab everyone or try to kill a major NPC?
Go for it, just remember many NPCs are strong and players respond badly to you reenacting Brutus showing Caesar his knife collection. But if you think you can get away with it, sure.

How do Vampire politics work?
Vampires work in a nobility system.

How does the Lycan community work
Each is different. The Grey tribe is controlled by a single alpha, who delegates duties to other lycans.
What about Humans?
Human cities have their own government, much influenced by the Church. The Church also handles all major military; it's main branch is the Crusaders. Blood Alchemists have also become more popular lately and the Church is considering reinstating the Inquisition.
