What the title says, it's this only reason I still use other manga sites for manga.

Manhwa it already like this on this site but manga isn't, so I think an option (that is disabled by default) at the top of the page would be great!

If this has been discussed many times before then why isn't it implemented yet?

This suggestion maybe possible or not... depending on the amounts of donation grumpy will receive(if he run the donation system)

 

Reading a chapter on one-single page will  Not only be heavy traffic but it will affect the financial state that  keeps this website running.

One-page readings never have any ads on them meaning no money in-coming to the site. As of now, all webtoons has no ads while reading.

We need to consider the server costs, the traffic, the security...etc...

Batoto hosts all image in their highest Quality of their original file uploaded.

This is small thing but some scanlation group credit pages' width is much bigger than the chapter pages itself....

 

why few site has that option is because either ...

 the quality of the images is lower/ they don't have much people visiting it/ they don't host as much series as Batoto which has one/only of the highest quality images around.

- next page already preloads
- preloading whole chapters and/or displaying them on one page won't happen
- if you have slow connection maybe you'll be better off just downloading chapters directly from scanlators and viewing them offline?

To be more precise, (all problems with what way of displaying/loading whole chapter to use aside) if Batoto were to be able to replace the loss of ad revenue with donations, would it be any more viable to implement in some form.

FWIW, manga are also meant to be read page-by-page, while webtoons are meant to be read in a single long strip. The intent of the author is also a driving force behind this, as manga doesn't make much sense to read (as in, it is harder to read) in a single long strip. Theoretically, I suppose, the manga long-strip option could have some extra white space between pages. But again, I think the way that we present the comic has an impact on the way that the comic is perceived, and long strip mode will change how a manga is perceived, distorting it from it's original format.

 

Some may not find this argument persuasive or important, but it's another factor that's considered.

I think the main use for this is for slower internet connections, isn't that correct? Loading all of the pages and then reading the chapter rather than loading each one slowly makes much more sense if you have to wait for each page individually anyway.

 

But If you're on a machine with a fater connection, reading it page by page would be ideal for the reasons Trebor mentioned. The flow of the story is a concern for a manga in a long strip format simply because they're not designed to be read that way. This is opposed to a webcomic which takes advantage of the fact that its readers are assumed to be reading it in a long strip. Many times there will be large blank spaces between segments to create a faux pause between scenes or to preserve shock value as one reads.

 

Since mangas are published in a book format, the mangaka's "pauses" are actual physical barriers. When the pages are placed in a long strip going from one page to the next is a simple glance, and if you have a particularly large screen(or small pages) you're going to see a lot of the story unintentionally at a time. Also, it may seem aesthetically pleasing, but there are double pages and general scantalation notifications to consider.

 

tl;dr It's for your own reading experience.

i wouldn't be opposes to giving those who want it opportunity to load all on one page. if the site can afford it... i've seen some sites that offer this option, the number of ads on that one page can get horrible. instead of some white space between pages, there's an ad. doesn't exactly enhance reading experience... so i also agree with saving this implementation for whenever enough users figure it's worth supporting this page to get rid of the ads that limit options so much.

not like long strip reading is any good option for me, my internet is so slow that i have to warn others before reading webtoons, that their connection will get at least a half minute lag. great for dungeoneering...

Its something like a option when reading manga if you only want to scroll not to click. I found this more fast in reading manga.
