Faction: Claire is 100% neutral in any given conflict. She only gets involved once the smoke has cleared, and she treats the injured of both sides equally. The one exception is if anybody is dumb enough to attack her or her patients. She doesn't like that.

 

Personality: Claire Havenfield is quite possibly the most blunt, down-to-earth, and direct person you will ever meet. She doesn't sugarcoat anything, she never beats around the bush, and she considers tact a complete waste of time. If she feels something needs to be said or done, she will say so directly with no room to misinterpret or argue. Also worth noting is her moral code; she takes being a Doctor very seriously, to the point where the Hippocratic Oath is nothing short of sacred to her.

 

History: Claire Havenfiled hasn't always been a doctor. In fact, up until a few years ago, she didn't have any knowledge of repairing the human body whatsoever. Quite the opposite really; several years ago she rode across the Neo-West as a notorious outlaw called The Raven Witch who took what she wanted and had nothing short of complete disregard for anything in her way. One day she ran into a conflict with a brigade of Rangers that quite literally ended explosively when one of their bullets struck a powder keg. Claire was knocked unconscious by the blast. When she woke up, an older man was leaning over her and taking shrapnel out of her guts piece by piece in a ramshackle little house. When she tried to stir, he held her in place with just his left hand while his right continued operating until he was done. Then he went back to work stabilizing the Ranger that had survived. That was puzzling. Most doctors treated one or the other, but never both an outlaw and a Ranger. She asked him about it. And he responded.

 

"My dear, I'm a doctor. It's not my part to judge you or condemn your actions, it's my part to patch you up when you get injured. I give you a new lease on life, what you do with it or what you did with your old one is not my concern. Now lay back down, you shouldn't be moving for another day or so."

 

His words struck an odd tone with her. Something about them made Claire feel compelled to ask more questions of him, of his profession. So she did. They had a long conversation about medicine, what being a doctor meant, and why he did it. It left her feeling strange, questioning what she'd been doing with her life. So she asked the old man if he would do two things for her; take her on as an apprentice, and tell the Ranger she'd died on the operating table. He asked why. And she responded.

 

"It's time for the Raven Witch to die. She's caused nothing but trouble and strife for the world. But maybe her reincarnation can atone for her sins. That's the hope anyway."

 

He agreed to the favor. When the Ranger woke up, he was released with news that the Raven Witch was no longer a threat to Neo-West and rode back to New Bedlam as fast as he could to spread it. Following this, the old man began to teach Claire everything he knew. Medicine, surgery, anatomy & physiology, even some unorthodox things such as martial arts holds and locks, like the one he'd used to immobilize her on the table. But most importantly, he taught her that a true doctor exists for one purpose- the preservation of life. It didn't matter who's life, because anybody's could be turned around. She was living proof of that.

 

Some years later she graduated from his care, was given the title of Doctor, and made her way back to new Bedlam, where she's opened a clinic to treat anything that ails anyone. Of particular note is the way she discriminates, namely that she doesn't. She'll treat Ronnie Frown himself just as soon as Roger Blint, and the only thing that determines the order is who has less time to live. While this view has drawn some ire from a handful of the townsfolk, there is no questioning her skills as a medical practitioner.

 

"The difference between you and me is our methods of classification. You quantify everyone you meet as either 'Good' or 'Evil' and deal with them accordingly. I quantify them as 'Injured' or 'Uninjured' and do the same. Now please leave, I have patients to attend to, and I'd rather not have to add a Ranger to the list because he attempted to attack me without any provocation."  ~Said to James Harleton, who accosted her at her clinic to demand why she healed the Outlaw he'd nearly killed.

 

Weird: Spacial Shift: Claire has the ability to effectively teleport any object or person within a certain radius to another point within that radius. There are two limitations to this; she must touch the object in order to transport it, and an object cannot be transported unless it has stopped moving. She can use this ability to separate body parts from someone and have them still function correctly (like Trafalgar Law in One Piece), but if she wants to she can also just warp them off wholesale.

 

Inventory: A Medical Bag with anything she might need to operate in the field, a Bowie Knife for self-defense, and a white horse named Florence.
