Asha is pain in the ass when younare trying to translate.

Official Japanese translation assumed Asha was a he until midway season 1 and had to fix dozens of chap.

Really? Even though it wasn't stated, after chapter 4 I thought it is pretty obvious that the girl in the flashback was Asha.

Wait, by midway you mean when they met Ran?

If that is the midway, then they skipped over the line from Chapter 24: "And the person who helped me realised the truth was neither a famous wizard, nor a fellow oracle, but a sixteen-year old boy.   -I really believed Asha was a boy at that time-"?

Even accounting for gender-neutral words, I don't think there is a way to misinterpret "I really believed Asha was a boy at that time" as something else other than gender.

Then again I can't understand any Korean so I could be totally off.

lol, we can deduce from this that the Japanese translators aren't double-checking their translations with the author or whatnot, and that the Japanese translations thus cannot be relied upon as an alternate source for checking meanings. Too bad. :S

That's one helluva big mistake to make though.

When I was in France, I remember the first volume of Hunter x Hunter in French got the gender of one of the main characters wrong. They apologized for the fact in the second volume. I can hardly blame them though, said character looked sooo much like a little girl...

I think that Asha in the beginning wanted to use Leez for her own purpose, and then sacrifice/dispose of her at the right moment. But midway she became fond of her and now he cannot force herself to do that. The strangling was the last attempt of her mind to win against her heart.

Spoiler

I'm italian, so please excuse me if my english is not very good, feel free to correct me.

By midway I meant somewhere in middle where I am too lazy to find excatly when.

I think that was around when they relized it.
