Well, the author always has the mc steal the show, manipulate and totally audacious and arrogant. Yet they have the right to be so.

 

Shura isn't fully uploaded but you can find it at some other site, there's a anime from the same author which pretty matches what you'd like.  Kaiouki is still being uploaded, hopefully.

If you're still looking, Yureka's MC is one magnificent bastard, although scans have been inconsistent in release lately. I've been suggesting this everywhere, but Shin Angyo Onshi also, possibly one of the most magnificent bastards ever in manga. Both are very heavy on the bastard aspect. Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer has a weaker magnificent bastard, but not a bad contender if you start running out of stuff.

I know it's an anime but, i recommend Code Geass R1 and R2. He is manipulating, his morality is sometimes questionable, he is a fucking genius, and he hates real-time tactics, instead he favors grand battle plans.

 

With manga i recommend Historie, it is magnificent, but has kind of a slow start.

It's a really funny manga, where the guy uses spells* named after rock metal bands. (oh, and there's ecchi in there as well o/ )
