mehhhhhhh I don't like how the mangaka tried to indicate a pairing for tohma at the last minute. It just feels so...contrived. :< my poor bby

But other than that, the ending was cute. A little unsatisfactory, because I wanted to see them after they graduated (like 5 years in the future would be nice), but cute.

Those past few chapters were surprisingly fast! I would've lost a fortune had I bet on this plot.

There was tension, relief, fluffiness, nostalgia, cute interactions and promising developments! Giving flowers never gets old...oh youth. 

I hope Tanaka sensei still has a chance by the time Murao got to college... and maybe win...

I feel really bad for Kikuchi, I even started really cheering for him when they got together. I mean, I like how things turned out now, but man, Kikuchi.

I was seriously at the point where I wanted Futaba to ditch both of them and happily end up with an unrelated guy. lol

Well at least now I can stop grinding my teeth.

I don't think there are any lingering feelings, though.

To begin with, I don't think she had strong feelings for Kikuchi at all. From the start, she thought he was a friendly, good-natured guy with a relaxing atmosphere. Even when she agreed to go out with him, it wasn't like she thought about her feelings and decided she liked him. She agreed to go out with him because he wasn't Kou. Kikuchi kind of pressured her into it, basically saying that it was okay if she still had feelings for Kou, that she should just date him anyway, and she agreed because it was an opportunity to distract herself and feel loved and escape her heartbreak. Even when she was determined to stay with Kikuchi, at no point did she ever think "because I love him the most" or "because I want to be with him". It was always about her responsibility, that she wanted to face the person she was with, that she was frustrated by Kou and how much she still felt for him. Even if Kou never existed at all, the outcome really seems like it would have been the same. She'd agree to go out with him because he seemed so sincere, and she'd break up with him because she can't pretend her feelings are stronger than they are. You talk about her making stupid decisions and not understanding her own feelings, but if anything, ending things like that was basically the most responsible thing she could've done, Kou or no Kou.

I don't remember saying that Futaba should feel differently, just that she is misinterpreting her own feelings and breaking a commitment that shouldn't be broken. I can totally understand ending a relationship when there's no attraction whatsoever, though that doesn't negate your fault in the matter if those feelings dissipated because of your own negligence. Even if the other person treats you perfectly, I'm not so ignorant as to say that anyone could deserve your love like it's a debt that needs to be paid. What I don't agree with is ending a relationship when there is love there just because someone else seems like a better choice, especially if you end up hurting those you care about. You can't deny that there are cases where those feelings are fleeting, and even if they aren't, its disrespectful to the whole commitment in the first place and to your own feelings of love that you are denying to just end it like that.
Lets say that she was just casually dating Kikuchi, and by that I mean that she dated him without any real feelings just to give it a chance, like so many people do nowadays. I would have no problem with this move, heck I'd expect it to happen. However, since there are still lingering feelings when she ended it, she'll probably feel some regret, or at least guilt, about this, I know I would.
 
In the end, that's just how I feel about relationships and ignorantly making mistakes, decisions that warrant regret not just decisions I as the observer feel were wrong. Also, as someone who constantly has to fight procrastination, it really rubs me the wrong way when I see someone in denial, so watching Futaba tell herself that she's only with Kikuchi because "[she] has to respond to [his] kindness" is pretty painful for me.
Though what really upsets me about all this is how Kou disrespected her wishes and pursued her relentlessly, in most cases that would end in disaster. He's insanely lucky it went so well, though he did have serious plot armor.

I personally don't like stories where characters make mistakes like this out of ignorance and without even realizing it's a mistake.

So... it wasn't the end? Is the next one the last? Cause everything seems perfectly fine now, so I think it's about time we see "and they lived happily ever after" ending here.

This is all very intelligent and well thought out.  But you can't argue people into having the feelings you think they ought to have.

Yep; spot on.  Otherwise, unrequited love could be transformed into mutual love with just a few public speaking/debate classes.
