Tepes was dying and needed a new body, but he could use certain things. So s/he (that whole thing is still really unclear) preformed some pseudo-possession of Lark as a foetus and they are basically sharing a body.

 Nope, I studied English Literature and read like a machine but there are still a few words I'm sure I don't know. Though yes, I know what "gloaming" is, I rarely use a thesaurus - it's a terrible way to write just about anything or as Stephen King says:

I was weird as a kid: to expand my vocab, I was forced to read the dictionary by one of my teachers at school (ten words a day, write them out 20 times each).  I found that totally boring (as, going by a school dictionary, I often wasn't being introduced to new words just going down the thing chunk by chunk) and got around it by picking up the Roget's Thesaurus and finding related words I hadn't seen before, rather than going the alphabetic way.

Humour me, oh Master Vocabulary Snob. I learned to love the thesaurus as a way to avoid complete, mind-numbing dullness. There is no right or wrong in how you pick up and learn to love words.  Despite your teacher's best efforts to make you hate them.

And, much though I love Stephen King, he's not totally right: if you're stuck for something that rhymes and/or scans for your poetry and don't have a rhyming dictionary to hand... you can either sit there racking your brain for hours, or look at the thesaurus and save your blood pressure. And, then proceed to face-palm yourself when you see the obvious answer you should have got yourself staring you in the face.  But, you just weren't on that wavelength, for some reason.

There are ways and ways to use tools.  Some are good ways, others lazy, others wrong (using a thesaurus as a blunt object to whack somebody over the head with?  Wrong!).  But, a thesaurus is just a tool.

You mean you've never seen light or animals being described as "crepuscular" before even in Biology? You'll find it in thesauruses alongside "twilight" and "gloaming". I prefer to go roaming in the gloaming, myself, though.

This protagonist on a power trip idea is pretty common. I just hope he doesn't go back to being a pushover because that was quite boring to read.

Well, seems like the power-induced power trip might have a cure after all. And, that the possession isn't total: had it been... I get the distinct impression Vlad would have behaved as much like normal Lark as possible to stay under the radar.

Well, congratulations for missing exactly what I was complaining about: people poaching others' projects.  I don't complain about waits.  I'm a patient bunny.  Nothing I said was, "I hate waits."

Consider this: I put my time where my mouth is.  I never read speedscans, but go for the group who started with the project, as long as they're continuing with it.  Always. Even if that means waiting 6 months.
