1. All god / goddess forbidden to use their godly power (except their natural skill)
Ex : Freya seduction, Hermes and Loki's trickstery / plan, Hephaestus forging, etc ...
but beside that, they most likely WEAKER even compared average human being because without their godly power ... YES, a mortal can even "kill" or "hurt" the god / goddess ...
2. About Hermes messing with Bell, it's because ... hmm, that would be spoiler a lot if I tell in detail, but let just say he is mainly "test"-ing Bell ... the rest because he is trickster too (his personality) ...

She's painted as flat, that's pretty close to shallow.
Well, they can think what they want but in my eyes, people who don't respect others decisions are even worse, Loki may not be shallow or an ass in this, but she's not earning any points by cock blocking anyone who tries to get near Aiz.
Loki was pretty shallow when it concerned her precious sword princess losing out to Bell for "faster rank up to level 2" time, plus she does act bitchy at times.
Didn't know Hermes was known as as Trickster as well though.
It really depends on the God in question. A good recent example is Anansi the Spider in American Gods. He is also a knowledgeable being too, and what he does with it depends on his disposition. He does care for his followers (in his own way) and serves as a source of inspiration and rebellion.
The Gambler in all his iterations in Native American folklore, however, is universally despised for his self-serving nature.
72+ chapters is pretty long for a promotion
Also, the manga came out before the anime so it's pretty likely the manga story and length were decided irrespective of when the anime ended.
Loki is the Norse trickster god and she's not painted as shallow or an ass here.
As for why? Well, "freedom loving" can also be equated to "Irresponsible". Just because in your current society such traits as freedom loving can be a plus, in other cultures (especially the ones they came from), that might not be the same.

I hope the manga will surpass anime story and not become another LN promotion again ...

English version is currently at Volume 8, with Vol. 9 is scheduled on Sept. 2017.
Volume 12 is the original Japanese release. I thought it suddenly got a jump and caught up in a flash lol.
We're currently in Volume 5 of the LN; Volume 12 is about to come out. So a ways to go yet.
This is the arc the anime ended on, though.
