I would like to suggest add subgenres. If you click on the romance tag you would be able to check something like forbidden love or (I think it's a subgenre) if you would set Martial Arts unter the Action tag. I understand if you would decline this suggestion because it is more work than "just" adding genres, but you would be able to specify the search without adding too much (you can still search for just action and get Martial arts, mage duels or tournament etc. and you wouldn't have to see the subgenres).
I wasn't sure if I should have posted it in "Tags and Genres you'd like to see implemented", but it isn't exactly what it was about... and I wasn't sure if it was suggested already (I have found nothing at least).
