by the way, any of you guys coming to AFA 2014? I've never been there before cause that time i'm still in UK. I'm definitely going this year. I think it'll be great to meet up with some batoto member in indonesia at that event.

welcome to batoto nytomoon-san. i agree with ken-san this site is one of the better site compared to others i've visited. the mods are friendly and easy to get in touch so don't be afraid to ask for help to them whenever you need them. the community is filled with nice and friendly people. though i've been rather inactive for a number of months so i can't tell if that already changed or not.

alright, it's been awhile since i've post anything. let's see.. it's my last month staying in uk. I have a lot of stuff i still need to do before going back home so it's a little bit stressful. that said i'm feeling really great since i'm looking forward to meet everyone back home.

The great lords council was held only 4 days ago though..

Too fast. Wolf thought. 'He wouldn't be able to assemble his troops and launched an assault so quick. unless..'

'He had planned on attacking batoto from the start.' Shu finished his sentence. Wolf smiled, it was great to have an able partner.

Smart and vastly skilled, Shu is a perfect soldier. His body might be a bit on the lean side, but he's tall. Very, very tall. Almost twice wolf's own height. This comes as huge advantage for him during scouting and ranging.

While wolf is also quite the smart kid, he can never beat his buddy. But i'm fast, way faster. 

Shu had always styled himself as a peace lover. A pacifist that hates conflict. Such has made him slow on taking action. Forcing wolf to be the leader. Both had been a part of the newbie town's guardsmen since childhood. They are both exceptional within their assigned group. Wolf with his leadership, battle prowess and bravery made a very good vanguard. While Shu with his excellent height and marksmanship supports everyone from the back. Only the newbie town is relatively safe. Too safe for wolf, he has always wanted to be in action.

and perhaps it is time now. He thought

'Well, even if we don't know anything yet. The smokes are there. That should be enough to rouse a suspicion' Wolf moved away from the log where the map was and went to take his bag. 'We should go back and report to the captain.' Shu nodded.

'We will need the cart though.' Shu said. 'You won't be able to take all these catch by yourself. Even if you're the famed crazed barbarian bard.' Said shu in a mocking tone.

He's jesting now. 'I'm not crazy and i'm not barbaric.. Let's go, the cart is a bit further from my camp' Wolf replied, clearly not in the mood for jest. 'I heard that the barbarian lived in this forest though. What was his name again? Sai-, Suei- something.'

'It's seyrine, and you must've spend too much time in the bar if you keep saying garbage stuff like that' Wolf peeked at his friend to see his reaction. Shu just shrugged, clearly knowing that wolf is trying to provoke him.

'Besides if he does live here. How come we never saw him? or his place. Considering we've scouted the whole forest for years now.' He tried to point out some facts to end his partner interest in this legendary madman.

'Well-' Shu was about to talk when Wolf stopped him. 'Okay, that's the cart. Now, c'mon! It's past noon already. We must hurry back with our catch and news.' Wolf doubled his pacing.

'You mean MY catch. Unless you can count a skinny chicken and two furbirds as a catch' Said shu with a sarcastic tone. Not to mention your Furbirds have more fur than my auntie's armpit hairs. And she has thick mustache under her nose. He followed wolf nonetheless.

They spend the next hour walking in silent until Shu spoke again.

'Wolf, what are you thinking?' He pried. He knows his friend. The blood in wolf's body somehow like to do a little race to his head. Worse, they're too fast. 'If there really was an attack, what will-'

'I'll fight' Wolf cut shu's sentence quickly with determination. 'This time, I'll fight.. Shu'

Shu frowned. 'Are you sure?' He asked.

'I am. Don't stop me this time Shu. Not this time. It's our-'

'It's our town. I know' This time Shu did the cutting. He smiled at wolf. 'I'll fight as well. This time.' Wolf smiled back. They continued their travel.

They have had the same talk before. Only with different answer. Wolf had been wanting to enlist himself into King Grumpy's army when the call for arms was sounded. It has been Shu and another girl that stopped him from enlisting. 'I think it's too reckless and stupid to fight for a new King that had just barely finished his conquest from taking what was originally our lands. Don't you think?' Shu had confronted wolf with these words. 'Not to mention the battle to help an ally forces that anyone barely know it existed? They have been hiding all their live until Grumpy came along with his uprising. I don't think they're trustworthy at all. Don't do it, wolf!' Yet wolf is still unconvinced, untill he met the girl.

...

'I wonder what she's doing right now?' Shu blurted unintentionally.

'Who?' Ask wolf.

'Melon.' He answered. The cart stopped awkwardly. 'W- why are you asking about her right now? don't tell me you..' He stopped. Blushing furiously, he looked away and focused on pulling the cart.

'Dude, you're so obvious.' Shu laughed at his friend.

'S- Shut up! You telephone pole.' Wolf hasten his pace. 'Hurry, we can almost see the gate now.'

Wolf's right. They are near within the border of the city wall. The gate stood proudly, dividing the walls nicely in two. Giving way to people who wanted to come in. The captain is there.

'That's not a good sign' When the captain who usually sit at his office drinking coffee all day suddenly comes out, you know it can't be good news. The captain waved at them. 'Let's hurry, wolf. I'm a bit worried now.'

They quicken their pace again towards the gate.

this thread is not dead!!

i lost my data when my laptop broke but it's not dead!

anyway, making stuff from scratch is hard. not because i need to redraw all (i still have the original data) but because my will is weak after this incident.

that's why i will post the chapter 1 story in a light novel-ish style here first for now. I am still an amateur at writing. so do give me report and suggestion on my mistakes, thanks.

Batoto Saga

Chapter 1 : last peace

chirp-chirp-chirp, ween-ween-ween, moooo~~~

The forest is so full of life. At a glance you can see little squirrels gathering foods, fishes swimming in the river stream, birds flying elegantly in the sky. 'I think i even saw a firefly' Wolf thought.

The little yellow furball run through wolf's half decent traps and ruined it. Forcing wolf to redo his traps, this time it was a bit more acceptable as a trap. That is, if by chance a drunkard iss pissing at the river causing the animals to be drunk as well perhaps..

'I don't see a mustachio though. So it could be just a pikachu' Wolf's thought turned back to the little furball.

Fast as lightning

He grimaced. At once he stood up from where he was hiding. 'I have no luck today, i better check the other side. Shu would've caught some'

Wolf abandoned his sad looking traps and went to his companion side.

'...some.' as if he'd forgotten about his buddy hunting skills. When he arrived at Shu's camp he thought that the pile of black behind him was garbage. Until he's close enough to get a good look. Wolf eyes widened.

'Holy Trebor!! those are venomous werewolves!' He couldn't believe his eye. And not just some, judging by the amount it could very well be the whole pack!

'How did you catch these creatures?' Wolf asked.

Shu shifted his body. He looked as if he didn't noticed wolf's arrival before. 'Wolf? when did you get here?' He asked.

'Just now. Are these werewolves? how'd you get them?' Wolf asked again. Fully intent on knowing his buddy's trick.

'Oh, those? I made them chase a deer into a pit fall. Smeared the deer with liver's blood before hand. They love liver, those wolves. Dunno why, i hate liver' Shu shrugged.

'More importantly, here, wolf! look at this!' he shoved his binocular to wolf and drag him to the highest point at the camp.

More importantly!?. Wolf is annoyed at his friends attitude towards his own achievement. 'You can easily be the kingdom's top ranger with this catch alone.'

'Yeah, yeah. I don't need that bothersome title. You know my style, slow and peace.' Shu grinned. Much to his friends annoyance.

'Now come here. Did you see? there, northwest!' Shu pointed. He gave his binocular to wolf.

Wolf knows his friend best, nothing he said will change his attitude. Giving up, Wolf shifted the binocular to the place Shu had pointed out. He froze when he saw some smokes.

'Smokes' he confirmed. 'Correct!' Shu replied.

'And not just one. See there, a bit more to the west of that smoke.' Shu pointed his friend to a new direction.

More smokes. Wolf face darkens.

'If there are that many smokes, it can't be the spirited away case' Wolf pondered around.

'That's what I thought as well' Shu replied.

'But then, what could have caused those smoke? no, first where do those smoke came from?' Wolf asked.

'That area should be the random town, near the potato hell plains. The other one must be the shout something village they're not far from each other.' Shu replied. He reached out to his pocket and rolled up a parchment.

The parchment was a batoto map. He put it on top of a log. 'Come, wolf' He told his friend to come and see the map with him.

Wolf put the binocular in his pocket and went towards shu.

'See? this is where we're at right now. Newbie forest' Shu pointed to a small green inked trees with a name below it. The forest was located at the edge of their town, the newbie town. Shu moved his finger, causing wolf to shift his attention back to his friend.

'Now see, here! to the northwest, not far from the forest. Near the border of our lord's land is the random town and shout something village.'

'It's true' Wolf confirmed. He saw the part beyond random town, a small part of batoto land stood proudly. That land belongs to the trout lord, vaygr.

'Do you think..' Wolf did not finish his sentence yet it seems that shu understood his thought.

'I'm afraid so.' Shu's face have turned dark as well.

The incident was still fresh on everyone's lips. The murder at the great lords meeting. The disputed land lords fighting among themselves. The reason behind the incident was not clear. But many said it was connected to the King's absence and the spirited away case.
