As for tips... I've been scanlating for nearly a month now and here's what I've figured out:
- Find something you're passionate about! Motivation definitely helps the translation process (as with anything, really).
- Fluency in English is extremely useful. For instance, idiomatic expressions can be your "Get Out of Jail Free" cards!
- More people = more time between chapters - in my opinion, a translator-editor** duo is perfect for quick releases.
- Be prepared to learn ~ from my own experience it's quite possible for one person to translate comics on their own!
As I can only translate Chinese, I'd love to work with a Japanese translator! Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
