Here's a recommendation that I got from the animesuki forums, it's a web novel from syosetsuka that I started recently and doesn't seems bad.

A veteran player of a military VRMMO called Watarai Karito ends up on a different world, inside the body of his game's avatar with all of his game's abilities and equipment. It has cruelty depiction, cheat abilities, another world trip, VRMMO FPS, fantasy, magic, modern weapons and maybe harem (haven't read that much).

Oh, wow, you're doing it alone? That's quite amazing! Have you thought in asking another group to do a join project with you? It could work out while you form your own group.
