Well, bit contrary to Trebor's post, I do actually want to give an option to show LQ. Well... not LQ, HQ jpeg when ever pngs are detected. There are far too many badly optimized pictures out there like the said example. It's a shame not all scanlators pay a lot of attention to file size when it can be reduced without any notable loss. I bet 9/10 people can't even tell the difference without aid from tools the difference between HQ jpeg that's ~200KB and 24bit PNG that's 2MB.

Basically, it's the final lifeline for a chapter release. A quality controller checks the language, spelling, grammar flow, typesetting, and cleaning, all in one, notifying of any and all errors that they might spot in the planned release.

It's also one of the few things (along with proofreading) where the principle sounds that "the more people, the better". One quality controller might always catch an error that another one missed.

I've seen several releases where the translator is also the translation checker/proofreader - this really serves no point. A piece of work always needs a new, fresh pair of eyes to look over it. No matter how good an editor is at what they do, there's always a certain kind of "work blindness" which requires someone else's look to fix. It's like when you're trying to solve a sudoku, someone else steps in and goes "hey, you can put that number there" and you think "holy crap, how did I not see that". A "can't see the wood for the trees" kind of situation, if you will.

I found QC'ing is generally easy unless the translator has a rough grasp on the language, then you're constantly trying to revise sentences into english in a way that is both grammatically correct as well as true to the translations (original language's) meaning.
