Bitch please, Neon Genesis Evangelion, original series, episodes 1-24 + End of Evangelion.
Watch that and feel depressed, void of happines, lost, confused, mindfucked.

Because I find depressing anime/manga more entertaining.

Exactly. Because it draws emotions a lot deeper than those of happines. It's easy to make someone smile. Tell a joke, trip over your feet, watch a funny clip, go to circus...
And now try to induce sadness in the viewer, sadness for a fictional character, feeling of loss and despair. Those are deep, deep emotions, hard to pull out even in real life. And then you feel depressed or cry because of some characters drawn on paper?! It feels more rewarding to watch things like Neon Genesis Evangelion, Code Geass, Death Note...

well, just as far as depressing goes.......manga : Socrates in Love http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=1652 (couldn't even make it through the first chapter.......just too depressing)

anime.......frankly I found the movie version of Clannad extremely depressing, semi-happy ending or not.

Not just anime/manga, but its usually the commercials about the starved/homeless/slavery/dying children in some countries. There is no tragedy that can be as bad as the ones in real life, or in time of Great Depression. When i have this in my mind, and compare it to the things i read in mangas, its usually reality that weighs more.


Because I find depressing anime/manga more entertaining.


BINGO! I book mark just about anything with one of the genre of psychology, mystery, tragedy, seinen etc.
Its just so much more interesting to read, and the characters are usually pretty well made.
