"Okay, so what we are looking for is a black book, with silver writings on it", I said as I began climbing the stairs to one of the walkways that were wrapped around the bookcases.
Elena looked at me in disbelief, not for the first time and certainly not the last.
"there's millions of books here, and you want us to find one special book? that's gonna take years!"
I shook my head and pointed at an empty lectern.
"it should be positioned on one of these lecterns, but I don't know what one exactly", then I pointed at a bookcase in one of the far corners, "or it might be there"

and as we split up to search, we kept talking.
not only to keep some peace of mind, but also to keep track of eachother.
"so, the book we are looking for is an index with some maps" I said, shoving aside a whole bunch of dictionaries on a lost language.
Lydia looked over her shoulder from the opposite bookshelf.
"I thought you knew where you were going?"
"well, not really, not from here...", I sighed, "with all those cave-ins we might just need a map"

Elena laughed.
"I think you're just scared to get lost"
I blinked and exhaled
"well, yeah... that too... but mainly, I want to locate some items as well. the arhin mezx and books on the mirror..."

"Got it!"
I turned my head towards Lydia.
"seriously?"
"Yeah, at least... I think!"
and she held up a black, battered book with silver lining.
I looked at it and nodded
"okay, let's head back towards the table we were at, we need to read it here because it's created in a way that it can't leave the hall of indexes".
Elena looked at me, holding a book in her hands.
"but can i take along this one?" she asked.

"What one?" I shot her a curious look.
She held up a little red booklet with a silver symbol of a wing on the cover, the title seemed to be "SoulSeeker and SoulKnower, The Watchers".
I blinked in surprise, but managed to answer in a normal voice.
"well, as far as I know, only the black books are bound to this place, go ahead I'd say", I smiled a little, "and that's one book less to find for us, I suppose"
Elena smiled and hugged the booklet close to her chest.

Meanwhile, Lydia had opened the black index and was staring at the pages.
"what are we looking for?"
"A map with multiple routes to the black deep would be nice... And anything you can find about No'bu, I guess"
And so we walked back to the table we had sat at before.
Once there, I asked the girls to help find out how much food we had with us, I was reassured when i found out that we had enough for about two weeks still.
"that should do, if we aren't back in two weeks, then we are probably dead anyway."
I looked up from the table where we had everything laid out.
"and what did we leave at the camp in the main hall?"
"well, about four weeks of food, all spare stuff and most changes of clothes", Lydia answered, "not that we had much to begin with, apart from the food".
I nodded and began packing our bags again.
"well, where does the index say the map is?", I asked then.
"there seems to be a chamber one floor beneath here, with all sort of maps... as for the books about the No'bu...", She sighed, "they are in the black deep"
"well, that can't be helped right now... and we gotta go there anyways", I put away my bag under my cloak, "well, let's go!"
And so we took off to the far end of the hall, for there was the stairs we had to descend.

Diary entry #22
29th of september, 1623 years after the creator's fall.
Index of the great library.

So far, so good. We're headed for a room that has maps. Not only maps of the outside world, but also of this place.

We're only minimally equipped, but what options do we have? It's not like we have a mule with us.

The books I require seem to reside in the black deep. That's also where Elena's father is, and our next clue to the arhin mezx.

I hope we won't run into any more trouble, but it's likely that the black deep will stare back into us...

Elena started reading immedeatly, it's intriguing how much thirst for knowledge she has.

I'll have to keep an extra eye on her.
