I heard that there are actually unschools like the one in Medaka Box. Ones where teachers don't play an important role and students do waht they want to improve their education. Are there any types of schools like this one. What do you think.
What type of School is Hawonika Academy?

Fly me to the moon Let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like On a, Jupiter and Mars In other words, hold my hand In other words, baby, kiss me
Fill my heart with song And let me sing for ever more You are all I long for All I worship and adore In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you

It's...hardly a school. I mean, I don't recall seeing even one teacher or a class in session or really anything directly related to studying aside from the classrooms. If there was a metaphor in there somewhere, I suspect even Nisio has forgoten it by now. As usual, he's just doing whatever he wants and cool shit comes out somehow so nobody minds.

I think an author didn't show us any teachers because they don't play any important part in the narration. Anyway think yourself: what could a normal human teacher do in a school where more than the third part of pupils are X-men? Suppose they just would have ask not to kill them)).
Another thing: it always seems strange to me, when I am reading mango or watching anime, that student counsels there are so active, play an important role in school live a have so much freedom( maybe it's all because of japanese education system? ). But ofcourse in Medaka Box the student counsel has too much rights, they even can freely use school money, and that I think is a real fiction.
But however the schools like Hakoniwa Academy do exists. There are special schools for children that do want learning. The original idea is owed by one strange germane(don't remember his name). In this schools teachers don't play a big role, pupils don't get marks and have a free time-table. But you should take in account all of them are geniuses. There can be found a lot of very different and strange activities, for example after classes a schoolboy can there can easily go to the lab an work there with a serious scientific equipment. There are no more than 300 of such schools in the world. So this could possibly be a prototype for this school.
But another thing that is strange about Hakoniwa Academy is it's damn huge terretory. I don't think even boarding schools can be so big, so this must be another fiction.
