much love... ^^
now, here is my rock story to tell:
back in the early 90s, the communist era was just over and the western culture was slowly taking over, i was a young teenager in my home town, hormones were rushing through the blood, and everything else, trying to find my place under the sun - a place to belong to...
but there was one problem - my home town is really small (only 35 thousand residents and decreasing) and there were no music stores at that time, apart from some street stands with pirate copies of audio cassettes with quite a short shopping list, mainly Metallica and Iron Maiiden (not that I am complaining about these), but also the big-boobed/dimwit pop stars of the day like Sandra, Sabrina, CC Catch, ...WTF..., etc. and, ofc, Michael Jackson and Madonna...
then my elder brother went to college in a bigger city located on the Black Sea coast here... and each and every time he was coming back for the holidays, he was bringing audio cassettes with rock music for me... so, yeah, my brother was my first music instructor and i'll be forever grateful to him... not to mention that prior to college he actually used to play second-row violin in the local symphony orchestra - so, there's my connection of rock & orchestra (apart from DP's
Concerto for Group & Orchestra - a brilliant masterpiece)... i've told you, imo, Mozart was a hippie, Vivaldi was a rocker, and Chopin was an emo, hahahaha
... whatever...
then, i started hanging out with the rockers at high school - there were these Friday nights at the local Youth's club where local amateur bands were giving live shows (some would actually provide beer for free, just to gather audince, hahahaha)... and they played covers of Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, White Snake, Rainbow, Toto, Metallica, Uriah Heep, etc. as well as famous BG rock stuff of that time... yeah, those were good days...
long story short - here's one of my favourite songs of that time, quite frequently covered by the local
Palace band (friends of mine):
