"Hey, why do you think we bleed red?"

"It's just how it works, does it matter?"

"But isn't there a desire for an answer?"

"I never knew you were this kind of person."

"You're right, maybe I'm acting a little strange today...but hey, when you get to hell, will you ask the devil for me?"

"Why don't you go ask yourself? You're bound to follow me there soon.Gaak! Cough! Heh...I guess you really got me good there..."

"Of course, I'm not the best in the business for nothing."

"Heh, pass me a smoke will ya?"

"Sorry, it's my last one."

"...Tsk, stingy till the end..."

"...Goodnight, my friend"

The man rose from where he had been leaning, the last light of his cigarette fading to black as the flame slowly consumed it. The wall that had supported his back until a few moments ago was splashed with blood, as if a painter had brushed crimson against the grey cobblestones. Red continued to flow, dripping down his windbreaker, dying his jeans, and crawling to the ground. It stained his abdomen, and flowed freely from a hole made by a glint of silver. He took one last look at a body on the ground, motionless, cold. It was the only look he could afford, he had places to be. He hurried off into the city streets, made empty by the night, and promptly disappeared, as if he was swallowed by the darkness, and fell off the face of the earth. It would not be until a few hours later that he would reappear, leaning heavily against the door to a dingy lounge. He entered, still grimacing from his wound, to the soft glow of incandescent light and the acrid smell of alcohol. A single person greeted him, a waiter, dressed in a seedy suit. He spoke with neither emotion nor acknowledgement, but in a monotone way, as, if the entrance of an injured man at 3 AM in the morning was a perfectly normal occurrence.

"You're late today, did something happen?"

I'd like to think of myself as the least impressive kind of god. Not omnipotent, omnipresent, or omniscient. Arrogant (as people with god complexes generally tend towards), self-serving (as many gods can be), and flawed (as people inherently are). If you follow me, expect magic tricks, not miracles. But hey, I don't ask for much. Put your faith in me, and I'll put my faith in you, Talk to me (and I've heard more important gods are much pickier about doing this) and I'll talk right back to you. So what do you say? Wanna be a prophet?

Very nicee love the imagery.

I'm a sucker for any story with great imagery. you should check out this short story called "the Blue Bouquet" by Octavio Paz

the setting of your story reminded me of it.
