About Me

Current Musings

There's a certain phenomenon you begin to notice once you've spent some time in a space as expansive and desolate as the internet. Or at least, something that I begin to notice. Perhaps it is a phantasmal occurrence, a figment of the imagination created by my rather overly energetic thought process, but it is something that I believe in nonetheless. It's the fact that though many words are said, there is little discussion. On these message boards in particular, you begin to notice a curious pattern.

Thread titles are given like prompts to an essay, opening lines meant to elicit some sort of academically structured response. The replies are just that, little assignments done to satisfy the rubric set out for them. They do not retort, expand, or bounce off of each other; they are isolated incidents. They do not respond, they list. It's true that everyone is having the same conversation, but not many people are talking to each other.

You, who has decided perhaps on a whim to visit my profile, seem interesting. You don't have to leave a note or a message now, but it'd be such a shame to limit our contact to just this. So next time we meet,

Why not talk to me? Instead of talking at me.

You, and human beings in general. <- Huh, bordering on 5 years here and I still haven't fixed the ambiguous wording of this statement to clarify between "You" and the 2nd person pronoun. I mean, I'm not going to at this point or anything. I just wanted to point it out.
