Just curious to seeing how many people use each theme. It is also known as a "skin".

Personally, I use Sylo, mainly because I like the blue (rather than IP Board's white) and because the comic names on the homepage and chapters on comic pages are more concentrated (no spacing between items) meaning a tighter look.

On the other hand, IP Board is attractive to me because it seems to get more updates and "possibly" functionality. I'm not sure whether the IP Board theme is the "default" theme and if Sylo will adopt all features IP Board will get. I believe so, because Sylo is just a theme.

Edit: the theme option is located at the bottom of the page called "Change Theme". It is on the same line as "Terms of Service" and "Privacy".

That what I said too... Well, Stylo is easier on the eyes, since the contrast is a bit lower (to my eyes at least).

Question: Aside from looks, are there any observable, functional differences between stylo and the default IP Board skin?

No functional differences I'm guessing. A skin is only a skin. The IP Board skin is likely a "default" one that gets updated directly. I think functionality "trickles down" to other skins.

The only functional differences would be how the user acts differently according to theme. IE using forums more because of less contrast etc.

Are there only two themes available for Batoto? I wish there was a theme with a little bit less contrast difference and more compact grouping of info.

Only two themes as of now. My checking of the service that provides this sites Forum software and themes (IPBSkinning) indicates that they only offer one free theme with the default, Sylo. Any more themes would have to be bought from them. A "custom" skin or other skins from other sites online would most likely be incompatible with the IP Board software they use for this site (and forum).

In short, Batoto has to pay for any extra themes, which at this point has little purpose because a site's theme won't make or break someone's choice to use this site.

However, if someday Batoto scrounges up enough money to buy a new theme and the community actively supports it, it may happen. That or you could volunteer to purchase the theme for Batoto personally.

I tried using the IP board but the sylo's easier on the eyes and I find the dark colors comforting somehow
