Im suddenly really curious on what kind of storage bato needs to run like it does...?
Godspeed, Grumpy.
Thank you for all the work, both before Batoto and after it's conception.
It was one hell of a ride.
Of course, I also thank MHH and Trebor as they, too, have worked at keeping this site running, as well as, all our Moderators.
Without them, none of this would have lasted that long.
I really was only here about half the time, for the foundation period of Batoto. I think seyrine and the current mod team deserves more credit than I do. Mhh too.
But I love credit. I shall take it. All of it.
I won't lie, I'm devastated batoto is closing down, but all for all the work you've done, the sheer uniqueness of batoto as a site with its high quality pages and especially its follow list, thank you.
Batoto's been a constant of my life for almost 5 years, so it'll be a chapter of my (and everybody's) life that will be closed. I really hope to find something that stand up to it's level of quality.
Thank you all for everything, and godspeed.
Sad to see you go but completely understandable. Will miss the site. Thanks for all your hard work.
I just got here!
Oh, well. It was really nice, and I cannot imagine how much work had to be done to manage this site.
I am very grateful for Batoto being here, and showing me this generous community of scanlators.
Honestly, if there is only one thing that is really important, it's the list of all scanlation groups on this site. If Grumpy (anyone), could export all known scanlation groups + data (e.g., website link, other things?), it'd be great.
The idea is take this dataframe, check each link to see if the page still exists (note, this is of particular issue for old sites where, say, they uploaded to RapidShare, MegaUpload, etc.)
Once the sites that are "dead" are found, take the associated names of the scanlation groups and use manga-update (or here if it's included on the scanlation group page), to get all the associated series. These can then be downloaded from here or elsewhere in their original quality.
tl;dr take (name, websiteURL, list('manga1', 'manga2',..)) of each group (rows of the dataframe). Check which are dead, back up the mangas for those.
Good luck and godspeed! Thank you for everything 'till now.
I think this qualifies as "The end of an Era".
