An Asha flashback seems imminent. In Kubera terms, this means two things:

1. Currygom judges that she has already offered us enough clues to piece together much of Asha's past on our own. This would include:

  • Asha's past on Carte, leading to the events in N5
  • Asha's murders on Willarv

2. Conversely, this means this is our last chance to figure out a right answer before it's revealed to us. So don't hold back. We just need one theory that turns out correct!

3. Lastly, this is our chance to figure out what 'bonus' clues Asha's flashback may lead to. I think it's fairly obvious what the suras were doing on Carte, so I think the true revelation will be this: What was Rao Leez doing on Carte, and more specifically, -what his mission was- (hey, he dumped his pregnant wife and unborn child behind to go on that mission)

So now's the time to give it your all. Speculate away!

Here are some of my old threads and theories regarding Asha:

Asha until N5:

Additional observations about Carte, and theory on the Carte inhabitants having the same attribute as the date they arrived on Willarv:

Asha's murder cases:

Some of our newest information is:
  • Sagara was on Carte too. We also know that Maruna was there, and Taraka was also in the water channels of Carte.
  • The death of Kuberas on Carte apparently caused Carte's destruction.
  • Visnu gave her a list of all possible conditions to victory. We see Asha with her right arm and clothes intact there, but I believe that was an imaginary landscape so Asha could seem intact.
  • Asha claims to have killed Rao Leez.
  • In 2-158 we also had another flashback of Rao Leez. It's the first time Asha learns that Rao has a daughter. She apparently still has long hair and her bow-tie, and has warm clothes. You can compare her appearance here to the ones I screenshot in my Asha N5 timeline thread.

Here are my assumptions so far:

Up until N5: (please see my threads above for the detailed explanations again)
  • In N2, Asha, an orphan with unknown origins, applied for the magic academy but could not enter because of her low divine affinity. Instead, she enters a normal school. I think Mirha could have taken the same entrance exam as Asha, so that may be how they know each other. My theory is that Asha and her mother were living in hiding, but Asha's mother was very cold to her, and Asha decided to prove herself by heading to the city.
  • In N5, I think Rao Leez may have come into contact with Asha when things weren't quite so bad (2-158). He may have been working with the people on Carte normally, or gathering survivors from the Cataclysm, and tells them they'll be able to go to Willarv. He receives the photo of his daughter. Asha is condescending at the scene, because Rao (whom she looks up to at this point) loves his daughter, whereas Her mother doesn't care about Her. The thing is, I think Rao leaves for a while.
  • Sagara and Maruna then launch the secret plan that they mentioned in the flashbacks, and came to Carte to start killing Kuberas. In particular, Mirha's location was likely attacked, causing her to lose everything in a single day. It occurred at night, so both Mirha and Asha are in their pajamas. Asha found and saved Mirha, but then had a falling-out and left her (maybe after finding a group of people).
  • I think Asha may have gone back to find someone, only to see that God Kubera got to her first. This person may or may not be her real mother (could be a mother figure of sorts), since she got mad at Mirha because Mirha's father was still alive. After this, Asha swore revenge. Visnu appeared before her, gave her a loooong list of conditions, and gave her the ability to use hoti visnu. Shuri may have been there as well, mocking her since she, the most useless pawn, had gained a useful function.
  • After this Asha starts killing people. Her clothes get increasingly ragged, she becomes bloody, and eventually, she cuts her hair. She gains power while escaping from the other suras.
  • N5, 5th month? (Vayu date) Mirha, Lilia and other survivors of Carte head to Willarv on a transport ship. Their attribute is rewritten to Triple-Vayu upon arrival. Asha is not with them, because she's out killing Kuberas. A result of this is also that Mirha has no idea what Asha did on Carte. She wasn't there anymore.
  • Eventually Rao Leez finally finds her again, and she gets clothes to cover her ragged appearance. He's ready to dismiss what she did as mistakes. Asha knows that Rao Leez is also a Kubera, and that she needs to kill him, so either she mentally promised to leave his daughter alive, or Rao Leez somehow made her promise because he knew what was going on.
  • In the 10th month, Rao summons Vayu and brings the last transport ship to Willarv. The planet start collapsing, possibly because some other Kubera was killed, or because Asha kills Rao Leez as they arrive on Willarv. Something may have pursued the ship, so Rao may have fired the Neutral Bow from outside the ship to protect it, and Asha may have either taken this opportunity to kill him, or somehow let him die.

Missing:

  • As said in my original thread, I'm still not sure how to solve the inconsistency between when Asha gets mad at Mirha for the fact her father is still alive, and the fact that the woman in Asha's flashback is apparently murdered afterwards (judging from the state of her clothes). Either Asha was mad because her Father, not mother, was dead, or the person killed was not her true mother but still someone important to her, that she eventually acknowledged as being like a mother to her.
  • Also no clue about Mirha's missing legs.

Murder cases until N12

Asha arrives on Willarv on the 10th month (marut), 21st day (indra), hour of vayu. She knows that she has a perfect 10 years circle:
- 7 to kill Kuberas
- 3 years disappearance

Here's what I think happened afterwards:
  • On the day after her arrival, she kills her first Kubera. She never needed the HSS to find them, Visnu had already told her. However, she would eventually need to use the HSS to find the daughter of Rao Leez.
  • I think she lived some time in Kalibloom, since Siera remembers her being a good girl when she was little.
  • Eventually she went to study in Eloth. She may have visited other places in-between, since she also appears to have gone through the water channel on Willarv once (she agreed with Ran that the layout changed). All the while, she continued her killings.
  • With time running out, she went to take her magic exam in the 12th month of N11, in Rindhallow. She probably took the exams there because she could take them earlier than at Eloth (exam dates seem to be based on the corresponding temple attributes). She was grouchy and in a hurry, because she had less than a year left.
  • She then took Brilith to Eloth. There, she had Lorraine use the HSS to find the name "Leez", not "Kubera". It is because Asha never asked her to search for "Kubera" that Lorraine objected to Saha (not that she had any way of proving that Asha didn't search for that name).
  • In Eloth, Brilith also got Asha a dress made by Lorraine. Asha objected then, and Riche, who happened to be there to get the Neutral Bow modified, saw Asha complaining, and deduced that Asha hated dresses. (I explained somewhere that Brilith's thoughts when Agni revived her were flashbacks of when she went to take the magic exams, and she recalled the people at each successive location. Thus, Riche was in Eloth)
  • Claude suspected something (also helped by the fact he received an oracle somewhere along the lines), did a search of his own (including with the HSS), and helped Asha silence those who dug up information on her. Asha is aware of what he's doing, so she really doesn't want Leez to meet him, since he might target her somehow.
  • Once Asha confirmed that "Leez" was not in Eloth, she went ahead and killed several Kuberas in Eloth. This prompted a trial and resulted in all her killings being brought to light. However, she escaped conviction. The trial thing may have been part of Visnu's conditions.
  • After the trial, she accompanied Brilith back to Atera, and eventually started wearing the clothes Brilith gave her. She may or may not have gone to other locations to kill more Kuberas then.
  • On N12, 11th month, 21st day (i.e. her birthday, or more precisely, exactly 7 years after she arrived on Willarv), Asha killed her final pre-disappearance target, near Atera. -Brilith saw her-. And Brilith saw her disappear. Hence, her telling Agni that someone needs to hold her back.

Re-appearance:

  •  Asha reappeared a bit 'early', on the date of Leez's birthday (on the 10th month). Since a full 10-year cycle wasn't over, she wasn't completely stabilized. Thus, she collapsed after powering the barrier, even though she -never had any sort of vigor management problems-.
  • On the day of her birthday, she could finally function properly again. That or, Visnu's instructions were for her to stay put until then. Thanks to this, she obtained items necessary for travel. She couldn't wait to get out of there though, because she didn't want Leez finding out about Kaz and Haas.
  • Oh, and she didn't tell Airi (and Brilith and co.) where she was heading, to avoid having Airi tell Claude where to find her.

That's what I have for now. There are still major items to deduce, like Asha's motivations, Rao's mission on Carte, etc.

There's also the small possibility that the flashbacks with Rao were misleading. What if Rao had a hand in everything that happened (in the bad sense)? If part of what Asha had to do was because of Rao, we'd certainly interpret certain scenes differently...

Two things: Asha may not have known Leez was a Kubera. Why am I saying that? Well it said "the priest of light and his fiancé" not "Saha On and Lorraine Rartia". On the list, she may have been refered to as "Village near Atera's Kubera" or similar. (Pigtail Kubera?)

If she did know, she was initially upset with Leez when she first found her because she thought some useless girl survived, but the one she wanted to save died?

That would be a very interesting possibility! Sadly, in one of Asha's flashbacks, Rao specifically said that his one true wish was for 'Kubera' to be happy. So, Asha likely knows her name.

Anyway, c'mon guys, put some effort into it. Asha's trail has been building over for 250+ chapters and has been the most complicated so far, you probably won't find another challenge like this for years. Glory to those who get even a few things right!

The things I listed are just a possible chronological order. There are sooo many things left to deduce:
- Who the heck was Asha's mother?
- Who was her father? Agni? Some other god? Was she Rao's illegitimate daughter or something?
- Where did she come from?
- Why did she showed up to take the magic exams in N2?
- Why is it she seemed so angry at Mirha even though the murder she witnessed in the flashback seemed to occur after?
- What happened to Asha's arm?
- Is it the same thing that happened to Mirha's legs?
- How did she 'kill' Rao Leez?
- Why is her lifespan so short? Is it the same reason Leez's is short? Maybe it's an indication of how long their souls can bear the Power of the Name before being ripped apart?
- Did her high divine affinity really come from killing all those Kuberas? (quite possible, apparently fighting superior suras increases your DA, and with Kubera's power mixed in with God Kubera's, it could have extra effect. But at the same time, the suras referred to it as 'stealing' power)
- Why did she hoti visnu and repeat her killings repeatedly? (my theory was that she did it until the power did go to them and not to another random Kubera, but I'm not certain about this)
- Why can she use spells so often?
- Why does she never run out of vigor?
- Why can she power barriers?
- Who did the 'cards' whom Claude said would die represent? (one is Leez, is another Teo? If the last one is Yuta, why did he say all of them would die?)
- What did she do in the water channel? (I think Ran saw her use hoti visnu)
- Where did she disappear off to after the commotion in the Temple of Chaos?
- Did the reflection in the Lake of Reflection refer to her? What was it then?
- What's her true goal regarding Leez?
- What were her plans for Yuta? Ran?
- Whom out of those implied by Claude is Asha's enemy?

And that's just referring to Asha. There are lots of other things that need clarifying regarding Carte. There's one thing I don't get, for example, regarding the order of what happened in N5 in the sura realm. I thought that Sagara and Manasvin visited Gandharva right before the clan was attacked by Taraka, and got caught up in the attack. Then the 'plan' was launched, Maruna showed up as well, and all of them got transported into the human realm. However, there was a scene of the Ananta suras criticizing Sagara After Manasvin disappeared, so maybe Sagara and her kids returned to look for Gandharva After.

And then there's Rao Leez. What was his mission? Protect those with the Power of the Name? Kill them off so that his daughter would survive? Did he make a deal with Asha?

Just throw all your theories here. It'd suck if despite so many of us reading the series, we happen to miss an answer that will seem so obvious on hindsight.

Why can she use spells this often-> Maybe she gets the usages (natural or trained?) of the Kuberas she killed?

Why did she hoti visnu and repeat her killings repeatedly?-> we still don't know what the penalty with hv is, but maybe it actually duplicated the power she received somehow? (I'm trying ok)

- Why does she never run out of vigor? She's using the infinite vigor trick. Headcanon is this: Rather than the 'happier' you are, the more vigor you have, more something like "the less agitated/sad" (idk how to express that) you are. Thus, when you have nothing to lose, nothing at all, you get infinite vigor. I'm probably wrong, though.

- Why can she power barriers? Only gods can change a barrier's attribute- and she has the power of a god. (at least part of it)

- Why did she showed up to take the magic exams in N2? Because she's smart and believed she could do it? Maybe she didn't know her DA was below the cut off or thought she could work it out. In any case, she passed the written exam anyway, and I don't think they lowered the difficulty fr the seven years old kid.

How did she 'kill' Rao Leez?

I think one possibility is that Asha didn't actually kill Rao, and she feels guilty about his death. One scenario is that Rao was dying, and Asha was in close enough proximity to obtain his power somehow. Another possibility is that Rao knows about Asha's plan for revenge, and he sacrificed himself to spare Leez from being murdered by Asha. Whatever the case, I think Asha said she was Rao's murdered in order for Leez to kill her, and thus Leez will get Asha's power. Maybe Asha's original plan was to complete her revenge herself while simultaneously sparing Leez. However, she didn't meet the conditions for that plan (Leez didn't kill God Kubera, Lorraine survived the initial conflict, etc.), so maybe Asha's plan now is to complete revenge using Leez as a proxy.

Did her high divine affinity really come from killing all those Kuberas? Why did she hoti visnu and repeat her killings repeatedly?

I think this is the case. When Asha kills a Kubera, I think she receives all the benefits of taking the name. After Asha revives one of the Kuberas, they are revived just as they were in life (all the benefits of the name), but Asha is still somehow able to keep the benefits she stole from them. It probably helped to increase her spell usage as well.

Why does she never run out of vigor?

Maybe one benefit of killing the Kuberas is that it also increases her maximum vigor such that now her vigor is large enough that she essentially never runs out. Another possibility is that Asha mastered the vigor trick. Since Asha was getting closer and closer to revenge, she was becoming happier, and thus she maintained a high vigor. When Leez masters the vigor trick, I think it will be because she wants to die. As Leez becomes the target of more people, she will increase the likelihood of her death, and thus she will become the happiest girl in the world.

What's her true goal regarding Leez?

I think Leez is the tool Asha will use to complete her revenge that she won't ever see.

- Why can she power barriers? Only gods can change a barrier's attribute- and she has the power of a god. (at least part of it)

Good job! I think you've solved that one! :D

How did she 'kill' Rao Leez?

I think one possibility is that Asha didn't actually kill Rao, and she feels guilty about his death.

Yeah, it's possible that instead of killing him directly, she just let him die.

I've just thought of another possibility though. What if she Did kill him? She did so by hoti Visnu-ing him out of the transport, into outer space. Rao Leez then finally realized that Asha will go after his daughter too, so he used the remainder of his vigor to fire the Neutral Bow -at the ship-. He missed though, and it instead hit nearby Kalibloom, then the bow fell to the ground. I wonder if he was near death anyway, since he was crying so hard. Asha decided to kill him though because it was on her to-do list, and Rao (who might have thought that she'd reformed) finally realized "wtf, I'm dying anyway and you Still have to kill me omg?!"

I just recalled something. Yes, Asha has probably mastered the infinite vigor trick. But nobody said that being miserable made you regenerate vigor infinitely. And then I recall something. Asha claimed that she was smiling each time she killed a Kubera, because she was getting closer to her goal. What if Leez does gain infinite vigor through 'happiness' (although an Extremely broken and twisted version?) Someone (*cough*Visnu*cough*) did tell Rao that his daughter would become the 'happiest person in the world' (so, something like, while she'd fighting, she becames insane enough to be happy, then she regains her sense and she's miserable).

I re-read the part about the trials again. It said that at the start, Asha only used hoti visnu fewer than 10 times per day, and that the number ballooned to 50 times per day, and the usage frequency for her lethal spells increased as well. Lilia claims that it was as though she practiced against superior suras, so perhaps, fighting against superior suras can increase both divine affinity and spell usage. I don't think Asha stole the usage frequency of her victims, because her number of hoti vayus still appeared to be limited (in the water channel, she wanted to conserve them), and it seems unlikely that none of her victims had extra vayu uses.

Basically, Asha 'stealing' power may have had 2 components:

  • The anti-Ananta component: by 'killing' even a fragment of a being that powerful, she raised her Divine Affinity and spell use frequency. Since she doesn't use hoti vayu offensively, those usages didn't increase much. Ah but why does Lilia have high usage of hoti asvins... I think Asha perhaps had asvins attributes before, maybe a brahma one too, so she had high usage for those from the start.
  • The God component. Now, why would stealing the power of a Sura/God raise Divine Affinity? That doesn't make too much sense, they have transcendental value, not Divine Affinity (notice that Leez has 0 Divine Affinity). So maybe this was separate, and Asha did also gain strength and TV but never used them openly. Actually, is it possible to use TV to enhance the power of a spell somehow? Asha got mad at Leez at first because she thought Leez used a certain method to learn bhavati kubera, only to relax when that wasn't the case. Using the transcendental instead of the spell? I dunno. Why is it that Asha calculates so carefully, thereby pretty much restricting herself to only using spells instead of transcendentals as well?

By the way, a little remark about the timeline:

  • Saha mentioned her using hoti visnu in the water channel. We see then that the uses occurred in N15, 12th month, 15th day.
  • Asha and co entered the water channel on the 3rd, and took a week (10 days) to reach area 50. If it were exactly 10 days, then they'd have reached area 50 on day 13, rested an evening (during which Leez met with God Kubera), gone to the next section (day 14), rested an evening, then confronted the Taraka clan on day 15.

This means that if the 'one week' was exactly so, then my theory that Asha used hoti visnu to find Leez when she ran off was wrong. Just a thought.

On Asha's goal: Asha claimed that her goal lies beyond revenge, and she absolutely needs to be the one to obtain the power. Now, she's obviously not interested in power just for the sake of it. So why's she after it? What do we know about her? Well, she hates the gods, but has no issues against suras, even though suras went rampaging on her planet. Besides, she obviously wouldn't be able to handle it for long. Could it be that she's after Ananta's power to somehow disrupt things and kill, or at least permanently separate the gods? Another possibility is that someone needs to be stuck protecting that power, and Asha decided that it'd be better for her to assume such a burden than others (because it's a friggin' miserable task, and most people would at least not be able to endure it mentally).

As for Leez, perhaps she hesitates between letting Leez live and bear that burden, or sparing Leez the misery? I dunno.

So anyway, another big set of questions refer to Asha's origins. In particular, why would Asha say that she lost everything in one day, when she didn't exactly seem that attached to stuff? Eeeh... Anyway:

  • Asha's mom was a goddess (starting to think this is off)
  • Asha's mom is the one Agni is looking for (used to think this, but Agni said that he met her over a thousand years ago, so unless she got zoomed into the future, I think she may have been someone on planet Gresvan. Well, Agni said he searched for her a long time. Maybe she did get sent into the future...)
  • Asha's mom was a Kubera, and living in hiding because of it (this seems right...)
  • Asha's dad is Rao Leez (lol)
  • Asha'd dad is Agni/God Kubera/Vayu/Brahma (wut)
  • Asha's dad is Ananta (lol, and she recognized the person controlling Leez to be him: no wonder she's pissed that he didn't choose her. But wait, this makes no sense at all, Asha is a pureblood)
  • Asha's dad is... I don't know anymore. T__T
  • Asha's dad was a Kubera and was killed accordingly (yeah), so Asha was mad that Mirha was lucky enough to have a father alive.

Hmm. still not sure which one was supposed to be Asha's enemy. We do know:

  • It may have been false that Saha received a proper oracle.
  • Mirha apparently only chose her side later on, so how could Claude guess? Besides, it's not like Mirha did much.
  • So is Laila Asha's enemy? How will That work? Won't she die soon?

I'm getting a headache. I'm ready for Currygom to just spoon-feed me the answer. T_T

I agree that Leez's happiness will be twisted, but I think it is for a different reason. Leez is likely to spend the rest of her life targeted, hurt, and hunted because of the power of the name. So I think she will become "the happiest girl in the world" because she thinks she is going to be killed, and thus she will no longer have to suffer because of her name.

Yes, there's that possibility too.

Another aspect to ponder: What is Asha's relationship with God Kubera? Is he the one she tells that she's willing to give up everything? Or was that just Visnu? Asha obviously noticed that God Kubera is tailing Leez, and there's a possibility that she met with him at least once (after the Test of the Sword, she may have arranged for a time for God Kubera to bring Leez back, then got upset when Leez was late).

Also, when Yuta passed by the Lake of Reflection, he heard Asha talking. The others may have left by then, so the question is who she was talking to. Was she perhaps talking to God Kubera? In that case, maybe the reflection belonged to him? (seems strange though, the reflection was in the direction one would be if one were leaving on the walls, God Kubera would just disappear, hmm...)

Finally, Asha may have arranged with God Kubera for his face to be hidden when she brings Leez (or at least he let her know somehow). Readers have speculated that god Kubera may have used the helmet so Leez would be too shocked to kill him once she realizes who he is. I think it's the contrary though: he gave her a chance to properly kill him.

That still doesn't tell us whether they were enemies or working together though. Grah.

Going off my theory here. (Which I should edit...)

God Kubera opened a portal to the void area the Chaos clan is in on Carte. We know that he (and other gods?) had used them to help kill Suras.

God Kubera kills Asha's mom because she was a Kubera? As for Asha's dad... he was never in the picture? So she literally only had her mom? Or he was killed by a sura, Asha runs to her mom and then sees God Kubera kill her? He goes away, Asha is upset about losing her parents and wants power to get revenge against God Kubera.

Visnu approaches her gives her this power. Even gives her all the information she needs to achieve this.

Mirha ends up losing her mom, and her legs due to an attack from the suras. Asha passes by mid attack and was able to save Mirha. (Who wouldn't want to be friends with the person who saved your life? So same sort of thing happens to Mirha that happened to Leez.) Asha is upset with Mirha because she can still smile after losing a parent.
(Asha met Mirha again shortly after she met Visnu but before she starts killing Kuberas. Since they had met before the attack when trying out for magic school?) Asha starts killing Kuberas, and using what's going on with the chaos clan suras as smoke screen. (either parted ways with Mirha before or after this?)

Asha needs to pay the first penalty of using Visnu's power and so her arm is lost. When that happens Asha has a image of Visnu (probably some hallucination??) of Visnu warning her of what will happen when she taps into his power. So she goes in a more animalistic rage when she kills the Kuberas.

The "weird" suras killing everyone, people having no idea what they are, or how to stop them since their magic doesn't work around them. So the people in charge of Carte ask Willarv for help with these "weird" suras. Willarv sends Rao, although he has a baby on the way how can you say no to an urge request where tons of people are dying?

Rao goes to Carte, meets Asha. Helps her out, gives her new clothes, is really kind to her etc. (Asha falls in love with him... okay this is just my own personal theory as to why Asha hates Leez. She fell in love with Rao, but oh hey he's taken. No biggie, except he has a kid on the way with the person he's dating? That's a huge bond that will last forever between Anna and Rao. Sever that bond and it makes it easy to break up Rao and Anna. Thus she can have him all to himself.)

Since the Chaos clan ate so much on Carte they got a stonger than normal...
God Kubera noticed that Asha is killing Kuberas, and doesn't like this. So he wants to enlist "help" from someone else. Makes the Chaos Clan attack the Gandharva clan. Opens a portal at the right time to save Gandharva, and Maruna, and they end up in Carte. Tells them how he can help them if they do what he tells them to.
Maruna and Asha meet because she killed a Kubera he was going to kill.

Chaos Clan has eaten too much and with Gandharva and Maruna attacking, the people of Carte decide to evacuate and go to Willarv.  Everything is going fine, until the Chaos clan start to follow. Rao summons Vayu to not only help everyone escape but to deal with the now stronger Chaos clan. Vayu makes the planet go boom, and helps the ships not get caught up with the explosion. (But since Brahma created the water channels and Vayu is not a primeval god, he could not destroy it. The water channels were mixed with the one from Willarv, but was left in an inactive state? Until Yuta came near by with Leez, Asha, and Ran.)

Rao was left in a state where he was dying very slowly. Asha (being in love with Rao) couldn't stand seeing him in agonizing in pain, coughing up blood, dying... so she did the only thing she could. She put him out of his misery by killing him. Hoti marut, and throws his body out the escape pod?

If I somehow turn out to be right. I'm just going to say "wow" over and over again.

As a preliminary note, a lot of my thinking is what could possibly justify Asha's behaviour, as Currygom seems to have an affection for her character that reminds me of JK's seemingly irrational affection of Snape before the final HP book. Everyone hated his character before then, and wouldn't have presumed anything good was meant by him. I could still be completely wrong at this point though, but there are apparently no villains in this story.

Apologies for the wild ideas/ ramblings. I hope they come across clearly enough.

1. Asha’s family
- I've long suspected that Kubera is Asha's dad or distant relative, as the two of them seem to have a similar moody behaviour and similar hair and eyes. They seem to have a more personal relationship than Leez and Maruna, which is how their interactions are presented otherwise. I felt more inclined to believe this seeing how Currygom connected Jatayu and Samphati's relation through the same drawing of their eyes.
- Kubera killed Asha’s family and stripped her of all her power when she asked for more, taking everything away from her.
- Asha reminded her mum of Kubera, leading her to treat her badly.
(Wild stab) Asha’s family were from a secluded group who were connected to the Gods, and with secret knowledge (like Chaos clan etc). They were all intelligent, and carriers of old knowledge. In turn, they could have all been offspring of Kubera, or connected to worship of Kubera. They may have, in turn, been responsible for maintaining some kind of balance.
- Kubera killed Asha’s family after he decided to make a deal with Sagara, as he assumed it would affect the power of the name.
- Asha had a sister she was close to. She’s carrying the sister’s head in her flashback.
- Asha was the last to be killed by Kubera (she tried to ask him for power as a final attempt to appease) but revived by Visnu. This could explain the appearance of her left leg in chapter 4, which look similar to Brillith’s limbs after her revival. Visnu then tells her everything she needs to do if she wants ‘revenge’, or to make things balanced against Kubera. Asha doesn’t have anything to live for and was already killed, so only sees her revival as a device to carry out this plan.

2. Asha on Carte
- Asha is revived with bloody clothes, and walks out of seclusion in to wider Carte, testing if she still has power by taking the admission to the school. (Problem with this is that she should have Visnu’s power at this point, or the ability to use hoti Visnu, so I don’t know how that would fit in).
- Asha meets Mirha, and sees a similarity in her close to her sister/mother, so forms a connection. She attaches herself to Mirha’s depression and imagines it is the same as what her sister/mother would have felt, but gets frustrated when Mirha gets over her pain without her.
- Asha meets Rao, and only then starts to live for herself again through his affection. She may have forgotten about her goal through attaching to the idea of being adopted by him. If this is the case, something must have happened to lead her to start killing the Kuberas, maybe a re-visit by Visnu to inform her how to achieve the goal, or a negative action from Kubera.
- Asha starts to kill Kuberas on the planet, and finds it upsetting. She hesitates on one of the first kills and loses her arm.

5. Carte
- I think the fate of Carte is connected to the Gandharva clan. The main thing that confuses me with timings is Maruna’s age when they are moved to the Sura realm. It seems unlikely that he would have evolved so much after N0.
- If the clan were moved to the Sura realm earlier by Visnu, the planet may have begun to collapse?
- Rao may have been sent on a rescue trip, and assumed he had more time. He may have also been told by Visnu to name his kid Kubera and go to Carte. He saved people from Carte by taking them on the transport ship when Asha killed all the Kuberas, but it was too slow.
- He may have delayed the launch to find Asha, who may have decided she didn't like the revenge and tried to die. This may be the time when Rao forgives her, and convinces her to get on the ship. He realises that the ship isn’t going to make it, starts crying, realises the only way to save everyone is to sacrifice himself, so he summons Vayu, gets the neutral bow, and uses the force of the bow to shoot the ship away.
- All sura Kubera made a deal with were on Carte, and all were there to harness the power of the Kubera name, but were beaten to it by Asha.
- Asha, meanwhile, realises she can’t die as she wants to, and pointlessly cost Rao his life because of the delay. This may be why she blames herself and commits to her (Visnu’s) goal again.

4. Asha and Leez/Kuberas
- Asha may have realised that she could end up saving the Kuberas through hoti Visnu, making them disappear, and only had to kill certain ones to Visnu’s instruction (like Saha). She may have not understood this well at the beginning, and took time to master it. Having all the Kuberas in an alternate dimension may similarly strip them of their power. This is overly sympathetic of her though.
- I do think that Asha managed to save Leez’s village, which is why there were no deaths on the site.
- Asha knew what needed to happen to Leez from Visnu, and shaped her character to ensure she could fight Kubera and the Suras. She probably wanted to strip her of affection so Leez didn't make similar mistakes to hers on Carte.

  • LocationSomewhere I can daydream in peace, hopefully.

Problem is, the magic exam was in N2, when she was seven, 3 years before the deal with Visnu (presumably.)

Some stuff I made: All's here!

My profile on fanfiction.net is here.

Check Kubera out if you don't know it!

Because it's fun to see Leez dying inside and outside all over the place it's a story of romance, psychology and humor. And horror. A little.

You're absolutely right. Maybe Asha met Visnu after she met Mirha then, but I think it's still possible that Kubera killed her and Visnu revived her. Kubera could have still stripped her of power when she was younger, but that would seem ungrounded. It's difficult to sympathetically explain her lack of power.

Yeah, one of the biggest issues is one of timing. It was clearly stated from the start of the series that Asha swore revenge 10 years ago. However, her known history starts in N2, so there's really a question of what the heck she was doing before. I like the idea of her sending Kuberas away through time though. If true, it wouldn't be the case of all Kuberas though, as she clearly left a trail of bodies.

Theory on Asha's arm:

  • Asha attached the arm (or some other part) of one of the Kuberas to her arm, which is why she's hiding it. It helps her steal the power.
  • It could also be some body part of her mother.
  • Mirha's leg.

Other random theories:

  • Asha's mother was a Kubera, and -Asha is the one who killed her- (doesn't really make much sense but hey).
  • When Asha recalls someone begging for her mother to open her eyes, she's recalling Mirha's pleas, not her own. (nah)
  • God Kubera is a (friendly) figure Asha knew as a kid. She listened to Leez's talk about God Kubera because it reminded her of her own naive moments of when she trusted him. Maybe he was the one who taught her much of what she knows.

There was one scene where Asha is shown murdering a kid with a big plushie, I wonder if that somehow connects to Mirha, but I haven't figured out how yet.

Oh, here's a plausible interpretation of events:

  • Asha was originally not involved in the war.
  • Asha's mother died sometime in N5, before Mirha's, so when she found Mirha among the rubbles, Asha was already angry.
  • She wandered around and came across God Kubera. Recognizing him as a God, she begs him for power. He grants her this by killing a Kubera and having Asha absorb that Kubera's power, thus, the bloody head. He also tells her enough for her to 'join the war': she now has to kill Kuberas. This may also be the origin of Asha's missing arm. Note: this doesn't necessarily mean that she's on God Kubera's side. God Kubera may be using her for his own purposes, while Asha knows this or thinks he's just expected her to fail, but she expects to outdo him.
  • Visnu shows up after God Kubera left. He shows up then because Asha had officially joined 'the war', and gives her the To-Do List™.
  • Asha then goes along her merry way to kill the other Kuberas.

New attempt at N5 timeline:

1el0fo.png

1. On the evening of N5, 6th month, 30th day, the suras launch a huge attack, and a lot was destroyed. Asha heads over to Mirha's school section and finds her there. Mirha, relieved to see Asha there, goes along with her and probably starts talking optimistically as they continue walking together (for example, hoping their mom or whoever else is alright). This upsets Asha, who yells at her (and abandons her?).

Theory: Here, we learn that Asha's behavior is due to a deep trauma from the death of her father. He was the only person she respected and she always wanted him to acknowledge her, but he's no longer there. So she's mad at Mirha, because unlike her, Mirha's father was alive. And maybe she feels her own mother is closer to Mirha than her.

2 (version 1): Seeing all the devastation around her, Asha curses her powerlessness and asks for power. God Kubera shows up (or she sees him first before asking for power), and asks her what she's willing to give up. She says everything, only for God Kubera to kill her mom and grant her the power from a first Kubera. She begs for her mother to open her eyes. Possibly, he also cuts off her arm here. Mirha may have come along and lost her legs at the same time.

2 (version 2): Asha then proceeds to her mother's house, but sees her mother killed. She begs for her mother to open her eyes. Possibly, she gets her arm cut off here. Mirha may have come along and lost her legs. Her mother's death traumatized Asha all the more as she realizes that she didn't appreciate her mother enough while she was still alive. She swears revenge and asks for power. Visnu shows up.

3. Visnu grants her the use of his power and a to-do list. Shuri may have been there, laughing at Asha for being the most useful pawn and for gaining a useful function. Alternatively, something may have been granted to Mirha to serve Asha (I don't really think so though). The bloody Asha leaves.

4. Asha goes around killing Kuberas (2-85). She cuts her hair (2-39, 2-147).

5. Rao Leez finds her (2-89), and forgives whatever happened as mistakes (2-128). Asha starts to get attached to him, because he's the father figure she wanted back.

6. I suspect some time has passed, and Asha's hair grew a bit longer again. Finally, all of them are ready to depart to Willarv (2-158). Asha is happy to learn that Rao will sponsor her, but is then shocked to learn that he has a daughter.

7. Some time after 2-158, Rao may have noticed her behavior, and tells her that she's living for the past, whereas he's living for the happiness of his child, Kubera. Asha realizes, much to her shock, that Rao's daughter is also a Kubera. Rao was probably a Kubera too, and she wanted to let him be one of the two surviving ones. But now, she'd have to choose between Rao and his daughter. She chose to let his daughter live, because that's what Rao would have wanted, and brought about Rao's death instead. (nasty)(if this is true, one may understand why she was so disappointed in Leez)

I think she used hoti visnu or something to force Rao out of the ship right before arrival. Rao may have realized that Asha was still killing Kuberas, thinks she might go after his daughter, and fired the Neutral Bow one last time, but missed. Asha is upset that he'd kill her to save his daughter, but nonetheless promises to herself that she'll make his daughter survive.

Now, I'm a bit tripped up by the fact that in 2-158, Asha's hair style seems to be the same as before, so it seems to place the scene Before she cut her hair, and because her clothes are different, before she even saw her mother killed and was reunited with Mirha. It could be that in one evening, there were several waves of attacks (the background of 2-158 suggests that things were already off, see snowflakes). Asha then went to bed and by the time she got up, things got worse.

However, there was no indication prior to this that Asha knew Rao, and well, in 2-174, things were still fine and nobody was in a hurry to evacuate the planet. So I think 2-158 occurred after some time has passed.
