Introduction
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…
It is a time or turmoil and destruction. The remnants of the fallen empire has given rise to the First Order. Now a new threat looms over the galaxy. With the loss of the capital of the Republic, Hosian Prime, the Alliance is in disarray. As the war continues to develop, more and more players are drawn into the fray for one reason or another.
Whispers of a shadowy figure within the underworld of Coruscant are circulating. A new task force has been created within the First Order. The Alliance has caught wind of a coming attack on the Outer Rim planet of Ignos.
As new players arise in the battle for the galaxy, which side will you choose?
(This RP will take place directly after the events of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. It’s important to know that this will not be directly involved with the plot of that movie. It will take place with entirely new characters and the canon characters will likely not appear. If they do, it will be in passing. This is out of respect to the actual story.)
Character Sheet
Name: (What do they call you? There is a lot of power in a name.)
Race: (What species are you? Canon races only. There may rarely be special exceptions or restrictions on races depending on what I deem to be fair or not.)
Gender: (Male or Female? Mixed genders available to races that have it.)
Age: (How old are you? May vary depending on race.)
Alignment: (Lawful, Neutral, or Chaotic/Good, Neutral, or Evil.)
Appearance: (What do you look like? Picture preferred, but detailed descriptions are welcome. Make the description as detailed as possible. Examples for appearance encouraged.)
Personality: (How does your character act? What makes them tick? Keep it brief as I believe personality shows most during the course of a roleplay. Example - “Honorable. Proud. Stubborn. Excitable.” Try not to use only positive descriptions. Nobody is perfect… except me.)
Background: (Who are you? Give me a detailed description of your character’s past.)
Faction: (Who are you affiliated with? Only three choices to start with.)
Occupation: (How do you earn your keep? Even Anakin used to make droids, Rey was a scavenger, and Luke was a farmer. This also can help determine what your character can or cannot do. Example - A lifelong engineer won’t be able to hack a computer with ease, but could probably repair a ship.)
Stats: (45 Stat Points upon Character Creation. Keep the total amount of your points here. Yes I shamelessly stole the Fallout stats.)
-
Strength - (How much can you lift? How high can you jump?)
-
Agility - (How fast can you run? How quickly can you physically react?)
-
Intelligence - (How much do you know? How quick is your wit?)
-
Perception - (How much do you notice? How quick is your instinct?)
-
Charisma - (How much do others like you? How convincing are you?)
-
Endurance - (How much damage can you take? How long can you fight?)
-
Luck - (How often do you win ties? How often do you win at monopoly?)
Talents: (10 Talent Points upon Character Creation. Keep total amount of your points here. Talents are special abilities that your character can do or abilities they are born with. Race or Occupation may provide one with free bonus talents. Most talents will cost 1 TP, but there are special exceptions. For example, being Force Sensitive is a talent that costs 6 TP. Note that this is only being force sensitive. One’s character must be taught to use the force or be put into a situation where they become aware of it. The force talents are more expensive, but have greater benefits. In layman’s terms, the force is playing for the late game. You can only get Force Sensitivity on character creation. More specific talents may limit what a character can do, but will make them more specialized in that particular subject. May stack points onto one talent for improved effects. Engineer (1) → Skilled Engineer (2) → Master Engineer (3) → Legendary Engineer (5). Note of importance, you might want to PM me for specific Talents to get exactly what you want. Take a shot in the dark and make them yourself and I’ll judge how much TP they cost if you’d prefer, but I will more than likely bring it to PMs.)
Examples of Talents
-
Force Sensitive (6 TP) - This character has the capability to use the force.
-
Engineer (1 TP) - This character knows their way around machinery. Gives the character the ability to perform repairs and operate most machinery. Also gives basic piloting capabilities for planetary vehicles.
-
Master Engineer (3 TP) - This character knows their way around almost all machinery. Gives the ability to perform repairs, operate all machinery, sabotage most machinery, build and/or reprogram most droids, improve upon most machinery, and identify specific machine components and weaknesses. Also gives basic piloting capabilities for planetary and space faring vessels.
Personal Weapons: (The weapons that your character carries on their person. This includes lightsabers, guns, etc. etc.)
Starships/Vehicles: (The vehicles that belong to your character. This includes speeder bikes, pod racers, and starships.)
Inventory: (Anything in your character's possession that is not under the other two item categories. Jetpacks and armor would fall under this category.)
Credits: (The currency of the galaxy. You start with zero unless I give you bonus credits to start.)
Factions
Player Characters will be able to choose from three factions at the start. Note that these factions may change throughout the RP. They are merely a starting point for character creation.
The New Republic - AKA the Resistance or the Alliance. The “good guys” of the galaxy. Do note that one does not have to be a morally upstanding individual to be in this faction. Characters in this faction must agree (for the most part) with the Republic’s views and are directly opposed to the First Order. There may be exceptions to any rules here, but shoot me a private message if you have questions. Rule of Thumb, if you ask yourself, “Is this allowed?”, odds are you should private message me or it isn’t allowed.
The New Republic is in a state of repair and confusion since the destruction of Hosian Prime. With the senate having been on Hosian Prime, new players in the political game are beginning to rise to power. Whether this be for the good or bad of the galaxy is yet to be determined. The capital of the New Republic has been hastily moved to Coruscant because of it's history of being the capital in the past.
The First Order - The “bad guys” of the galaxy. Do note that one does not have to be a morally dishonorable individual to be in this faction. Characters in this faction must agree (for the most part) with what the First Order is trying to achieve and are directly opposed to the New Republic. There may be exceptions to any rules here, but shoot me a private message if you have questions. Rule of Thumb, if you ask yourself, “Is this allowed?”, odds are you should private message me or it isn’t allowed.
With the Starkiller Base completely destroyed, the First Order is attempting to regain more traction. It's military is still vast, but they need resources to rebuild their forces. Will they strike while the iron is hot or will they simply rebuild for the moment? Their motives are, as always, shrouded in mystery under the leadership of Supreme Leader Snoke.
Neutral - The characters with the least restrictions. These individuals can have as many enemies as they want, as well as allies. They are not tied to any one faction and are usually trying to achieve their own goals. Restrictions do not exist for the neutral factions besides gameplay restrictions that are imposed upon every character. Rule of Thumb, if you ask yourself, “Is this allowed?”, odds are you should private message me or it isn’t allowed.
Special Rule: For those amongst you who wish to be neutral, yet work with either of the two factions to further your own goals (I.E. Jango Fett) you will put “Neutral/New Republic” or “Neutral/First Order”.
Talents
Talents may very well be the most important aspect of character creation when it comes to the capabilities of your character. This will tell me exactly what your character can do. I don’t want anyone deciding that they are just a master sniper when their character has been a farmer their entire life.
As a rule of thumb, it’s much, much better for your character and myself if you make it as specific as possible. I used the Engineer Talent as merely an example. It can be as broad as that, or as specific as “Droid Engineer” or “Starship Pilot”. The more specific it is, odds are you’ll be able to do exactly what you want. It’s important that you ask me in the OOC thread or through PMs (Private messages are preferred because it really puts exact parameters on what that individual talent can do.)
Force Talents are a special case. This system is balanced largely around them. This is Star Wars. I’m fully expecting someone to dramatically yell, “YOU CANNOT TAKE HER FROM ME!” and be all angsty and dark with lightning powers. That being said, to use the force at any point in this RP, your character must start with the Force Sensitivity Talent. It costs 6 TP. This is so that one cannot have any capacity of Legendary Talents along with the Force to begin the RP. This also balances the game quite a bit. I suggest those who take Force Sensitivity be experienced RPers as taking that talent is basically like playing this on hard mode as opposed to starting out with “Legendary Marksmanship” and “Legendary Starship Pilot” (This would effectively make your character Han Solo/Jango Fett to start the RP.) On the flip side, you will be able to roflstomp almost anyone later in the RP just by holding your hand out and choking them for shits and giggles.
A good example of a starting character would be Anakin Skywalker from Episode 1. When he was a young boy he would have had the talents “Master Engineer” (3 TP), “Force Sensitivity” (6 TP), and “Pilot” (1 TP).
Another point to note is how ties will be broken. The first thing I will consult will be stats. Depending on the situation they will break all ties. If there ever arises a situation where stats are taken out of the equation, I will consult talents. Anakin has “Master Engineer” and “Pilot”. If he had tied in a race with someone else who had the “Pilot” talent, then “Master Engineer” would give Anakin the tie breaker because it gives basic piloting skill as well (See earlier description.)
If even then there is somehow a tie. One, I’ll call you guys dumb and unoriginal and likely there will be less dumb and unoriginal character in the near future. Whether through being stabbed by a lightsaber or if I just say fuck it and make a giant boulder fall on you (depends on my mood really), the game will turn extra hard as long as the two characters in question are constantly putting themselves in situations where I have to break ties. Moving on, complete ties will be broken through the Luck stat. If even that is tied, then I will flip a coin. Alphabetical order will be used. If both your names start with A you both spontaneously combust.
Any questions about this will be asked in the OOC and I will add a FAQ to the OP.
Stats
Stats are super simple. Generally it works like this.
STR vs END
PER vs CHA
AGI vs INT
Luck is has it’s own parameters.
There are many examples of it working out differently. For example, if a guy with a sword says he is attacking someone and predicting what they will do to corner them (I’ll decide if they are cornered or not) then it might be STR + INT vs END if the attack hits. On the flip side in that same situation, the defender may decide to dodge instead of blocking the lightsaber with his face. This may result in a STR + INT (Attacker) vs AGI + PER (Defender). This is something that I will primarily judge. I only leave this here so you guys can understand the method to my madness.
If I deem your attempts to corner corner someone with INT to be inadequate, then it may only be STR vs AGI + PER. Again, this is all circumstantial. For the most part the general guidelines I left at the beginning of this section will be how it works.
This is primarily an interest check. I wanted to put the information here for players to see and to scheme. More will be added within the next 24 hours. Main plot points for individual characters will be discussed via private message. I have plans set up already, but if someone decides to make the super special awesome loner Han Solo clone and just fly around space saying "LEL FUCK DA POLICE", then I'd have to tweak things.
Long story short, a plot section will be put up once I receive completed character sheets. Another thing to note is that I will only be accepting a preliminary 6 characters. First come first served. Family relations and connections between player characters encouraged. Private Message me ASAP to get a head start on character creation.
