Hi, I'm Charlotte from Damn Feels! No, we don't expect you to work like a slave, but putting that in the title had a nice ring to it. Our projects are mostly shoujo but we're open to any genre as long as it piques our interest. We place an emphasis on quality scanlations while maintaining a steady speed with at least one chapter released every two weeks.
We are currently only accepting experienced people who can spend a reasonable amount of time on scanlation because we have no time to train anyone and are behind on all our projects.
Note: If you're an experienced applicant interested in applying and you're used to scanlating using your own methods, then feel free to ignore the steps in the instructions. As long as you get the job done well, there will be no complaints.
You would have the opportunity to work on the following series (and a few other mystery projects you'll be able to access if you pass our test):

Hoshigami-kun wa Douka Shiteiru by Asada Nikki
Ohayou, Ibara-hime by Morino Megumi
The following positions in red color are open:
CLEANERS *URGENT*
- Able to follow guidelines and instructions.
- Adobe Photoshop and Topaz Plugins are required to clean as well as rudimentary knowledge of Photoshop. Prior knowledge of Topaz is preferred but not necessary.
- Being a cleaner requires treading the fine line between undertopazing and overtopazing, underlevelling and overlevelling. The goal is balance between each extreme.
- Dust. Even after Topazing, cleaners are required to clean hidden dust. You will be penalized if there is any present in your test!
- Experience in cleaning manga is preferred but not necessary. We can teach you!

EDITORS

Proofreaders
- No experience necessary, however a firm understanding of English and good grasp of grammar is required.
- You must be meticulous in correcting the translators' typos and grammar errors, taking care not to change the meaning when you rephrase a sentence to flow better.
- You must contact the translator for parts you are unsure about and need checking over.
- We will be looking for proper punctuation, contractions and proper capitalization/lowercase text.
- We use American English at Damn Feels (color > colour, neighbor > neighbours etc) so please adjust scripts accordingly.

Raw Providers
- Must have access to purchasing magazines or tankoubon which arrive around or very close to release date in Japan.
- Your scanner must be able to scan in 300-600 ppi or more.
- You will be reimbursed by the group.
There is no application for raw providers. Simply email [email protected] with a few samples of raws attached so we can get an idea of the quality we'll be working with. Please make sure beforehand that your scanner settings are set to scan at the highest quality at whichever dpi you choose!
REDRAWERS *URGENT*
- Artistic knowledge not required, as long as the redraw is as seamless as if it was never overlaid in the first place.
- Knowledge of cleaning not required.
- You don't need to have a drawing tablet to be a redrawer, but it does help with speed.

JAPANESE —> ENGLISH TRANSLATORS *URGENT*
- No experience is necessary, however proficiency in Japanese and English is required.
- Varied knowledge of Japanese tradition(s), customs, slang, current pop culture and onomatopeioa is preferred. We don't expect 100% knowledge of everything listed here as long as you're confident that you're familiar with Japanese culture in general.
- We use American English at Damn Feels (color > colour, neighbor > neighbour etc) so please adjust scripts accordingly.

TYPESETTERS *URGENT*
- CREATIVITY! That's number one. Don't be afraid to experiment with fonts you believe are suitable for text that is spoken in any emotional way.
- That being said, you must stay consistent. For example, if you choose Core Narae Pro for normal dialogue font, stick to Core Narae Pro.
- While we encourage creativity in the diversity of fonts, you must also have a good sense of layout and positioning so the text is placed precisely in its spot on the page and isn't all over the place.

QUALITY CHECKERS *URGENT*
- Accepting only experienced people.
- Must have good grasp of cleaning, proofreading, typesetting and English language and grammar. Knowledge of Japanese not required but is preferred.
- Must redo anything that is not up to standard, which varies from recleaning a page from scratch, RDing/RPing, correcting script errors and changing fonts to others which match the atmosphere more appropriately.
There is no test for QCers. Simply email [email protected] with samples of your past work in QCing. “Before and after” samples are preferred but not necessary.
Social Media Admins
- Upkeep the blog, answer questions (refer to other members if the question is specific), post releases, send out newsletter, fix website errors and other bugs.
- Must have people skills.
- Must be web savvy.
- Must have experience in basic coding.
