Just read this series today. I wonder why the UN does not just carpet bomb everything. it solves [Vector] problem. they will also perpetually live and die because of the residual radiation, so they won't feel any hunger.
Why not carpet bombing the world? also with nuclear bomb?

It'd cause a lot of material damage and drain humanity's resources. And even if humans survive, other animals won't.

Simpler solution. Tell everyone about how mortality is spread. Tell them to kill anyone before they get close to them. Also killing persons could be part of job interviews.
