Came across Dance in the Vampire Bund in my collection today and remembered all the fuss happening last year over loli related mangas and google warning sites who host such "images" to take them down or they will no longer ship out adverts to them. Obviously this would result in a major monetary loss for them and so big sites like mf reacted immediately and they locked suspected series. The result back then was that a lot of the titles weren't available (even claymore etc ) till they sorted out which belong to the google criteria and which not. For example Dance in the Vampire Bund isn't available anymore on mf.
The cause of this was most likely this post if I remember correctly.

I didn't checked which of the titles listed in this post are available on Batoto, but Dance in the Vampire Bund certainly is.
Batoto also relies on advertising to cover costs so I guess the staff has his eyes closely on this matter. But at least for me it isn't obvious if material like that can be uploaded or not. In my opinion Dance in The Vampire Bund can't really be called loli material but I guess that differs depending on where you are from and how you grew up. So are there any guidelines for this? (I don't talk about obvious loli hentai now)

In my personal opinion, there is no place for lolicon material real or fictional. Not here, not anywhere. And no one will probably be able to change my rather conservative views on this matter.

However, answering to the specific title of Dance in the Vampire Bund (which I haven't read in a long time, so I may be somewhat lacking in insight), I do not find the material to be of such nature. It is at best a bare chest and I find that no different than parents posting pictures of their kids running around in diapers. They don't engage in any sexual activity with the "child" nor is the sexual activity the focus of the comic. That being said, I do believe that the poster of that link to have freaked out at the hint of any such thing and went on the crusade of purification rite... So, I find no reason to proactively remove Dance in the Vampire Bund from our site.
Further proof to that Dance in the Vampire Bund is legal in USA law is that it's a title licensed and sold in the USA.

If there are titles that are truly lolicon in nature, we will take them down, advertisement requirements or not.

If the advertising agencies do complain as they find it unfit to their standards, we will take them down since we really have no other choice.
If the host complains, again, we will take them down since we really have no other choice.

So basically if young girls are displayed with an uncovered upper part without any sexual context it is fine to upload?

Short answer: Depends.
Longer answer: Read on US Federals laws on child pornography, specifically pertaining to 18 U.S.C. ยงยง 2256. Also check out MPAA and similar age rating systems on acceptable nudity and what constitutes as pornography and/or strictly adult. Which will still yield in "depends". lol
I'm not saying they're perfect guidelines nor do they set a clear line of acceptable vs unacceptable. MPAA for example is often criticized of placing things in "mature" when some feel it's adult only. But, it's a starting point.

For the most part, we kinda work on a complain and react system. (Not official statement)

rofl, sorry no...I don't give a sh** about us laws, not an us citizen so they don't affect me at all. So if I ever think about uploading titles which have above described characteristics I will follow my own morals, and I leave it up to you to lock them or not. And yes, I'm in line with you what is acceptable or not concerning lolicon, but Dance in the Vampire Bund is the best example to show how far opinions about this differ and how complicated it is to decide if an upload is appropriate or not...

I liked the manga even so it is one of the titles I let pile up and catch up once a year...I recommend you to read the manga to get a different view of the story (the author requested to be the anime to be different of the manga).
The Loli thing discussed here is a bit special when talking about DitwB. The Vampire princess is in fact a fully grown up women and just keeps the childish appearance for various reasons (don't want to spoil more then necessary). Second, she is shown rarely in the nude with her childish body and if so at least I never got the impression ...ah loli...well best is to get your own opinion by reading it...as I stated above it all depends of your cultural background. At least for me to see a 10 year old girl running around the pool without any top isn't something special, its common here, and no one has any strange thoughts about that. In the photo album I got from my parents at my 18th birthday more than a decade ago (It is the age you are an adult here) there are nude pics of me in public at a pool..well thats for sure something you won't see in dakar or saudi arabia but here in my country it is perfectly fine...well I hope you get my point...

I'll be honest... at first Kodomo no Jikan was very perverted and a little much for a non-H manga, but the perverted content went down (though... recently it went up slightly) and story quality went up and I couldn't help but starting to like it. So I understand why people dropped the series, and I don't blame them... but I'm a person who judges a story, not it's content... to each his own and a pint of root beer for all! *raises his mug*

Any thoughts on Ichinensei ni Nacchattara? Could you go to jail for it in Australia?

For all those thinking of thanking me for the scanlations, I only upload them, and I'm just a mod here. Please leave a message on the actual groups' pages that do all the hard work.

Yeah, I remember that when OneManga existed. Matter of fact it was one of nails in OM's coffin and had ALL seinen removed. They did a workaround with 1000manga however Dance was still nixed. Then 'it' happened just a few months later. . .
