Dude, news flash, it's not a gag manga. Don't let the door hit you on your way out.

Not a gag manga? You can't be serious. I mean, "Blizzard", "Eyelashes" and "The Mountain Ape"?? Aww, c'mon man, that shit's comedy gold. This title is just non-stop tongue-in-cheek comedy. If that's not your thing, like apparently applies to the OP, well, fine. But not a gag manga? Please, it's got its (shounen-level) "serious" moments........but everything else is meant to be funny.
Frankly, during times when Saitama isn't getting screen time, I find it fairly boring. He's the biggest source of humor, has been from the start, everything/everyone else is just support to his character. And I totally can't take this story seriously, it's just too damned campy to not laugh at........I at least assume it's intentional

Svines85 is right on this. It's a gag manga for certain. Everything is tongue and cheek sort of humor and it has kept it up since the first chapter. The only difference is that at the start it was a introduction to the character and the comedy was also quite obvious. And cause the story would get slightly boring if we focus too much on the main character being a cheating character, we started giving him the clean up role while he's still the focus of the whole story.. It's actually kind of amazing how ONE has managed to keep that feeling up from the start up until the latest chapter of the original manga (This is just a artistically improved version.)

I was under the impression that a gag manga is mainly made up of comedy skits. The serious development in this series is more prominent hence my mistake. I stand corrected.
My opinion on this is that , judging from the original, I haven't seen this even go half-Naruto or Bleach in story-telling department. In 90+ chapters, it has yet to make that downward spiral.

Mmm, it's always hard to balance comedy with actual plot development and the author definitely leaned more towards plot in the later chapters. I stay for the damn fine art and unique premise, comedy was always just icing for me.

well each man to himself, I enjoy the new direction in one punch man and the art always make my eyes drool. I'm a little upset through that people can't see how amazing he is, I really liked that chapter were he helped the police

Well yeah, i agree with you on that, the author has done a good job mixing humor with actual story content/development. I'm guessing that the OP has just come to not appreciate the less obvious aspects of the humor.........understandable really, since it's essentially that it's the entire concept that's funny. I mean, let's face it, the author ("big picture") isn't presenting the whole "super heroes" theme seriously. This isn't Batman or Spiderman where the characters are being presented in a matter-of-fact, "serious" manner, they're intentionally making them parody type characters..........I mean, c'mon, when you've got human/lobster hybrid monsters cracking one-liners as they lay waste to the city, you've gotta know the author is pulling your leg at least a little bit
But yeah, just judging by their post, I don't think the OP is getting that now. Tongue in cheek/parody type humor just isn't as obvious as pie-in-the-face type humor like quite a bit of the earlier story had. So yeah, if they don't like, drop it, it's best thing to do. I personally still enjoy it quite a bit.

That kind of nickname are kinda normal if you put hero theme to it. Rather than funny, that kind of 'hero' name are meant to state the obvious or irony (Batman, Ironman, Superman, mister fantastic, human torch etc. Do any of those name feels comedic? Not if you see their superpowers). OPM do has comedy aspect, but overall I don't see it as gag manga. With Yuusuke Murata involved, it's obvious that this series shout ACTION, ACTION, and more ACTION. 1 full chapter typically used mostly for action packed battle scene, gag are a mere garnish here.

Mmmmmmmm.............well, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, and I don't know that we're really that far apart.......but yeah, I consider it a gag manga, first and foremost.
As far as this one compared to any other "super hero" manga/comic/pick your medium/whatever..........well, again, this all goes back to how it's "presented", and, well, a big part of that comes from how the individual viewer/reader interprets it. Just as I said "I assume (they mean it to be funny)".........well, maybe not, maybe I'm wrong and they're just completely dead-serious about it but I find it funny (hilarious oftentimes for that matter) anyway. Or maybe I'm right and you're taking something meant to be completely tongue in cheek seriously.
Oh well, it's not really a big deal, to each their own
