Kage is extremely observant, with a sharp mind that allows him to quickly and effectively analyze dire situations without panic. He's a loner by nature, but not by choice. Soft spoken and shy, to the point that anyone who meets him believes he's mute (he just talks so quietly that he can only be heard when whispering in one's ear). He has a fear of getting close to others, and has always pushed away anyone wanting to befriend him out of a desire to avoid the possibility of getting hurt. His aloof nature doesn't win him much affection, as he tends to offend others when he avoid others, but it does suit him. In fact, this is a major reason for him being such a gifted marksman.
As he doesn't have a strong backbone, he always prefers to run away when he's made to feel uncomfortable. Even though he pushes people away, he has no problem following the lead of another, as he could never be a leader himself. He also happens to be extremely childish, and will often take things at face value no matter how outlandish. This gullibility leads to him being quite impressionable, and also makes it difficult for him to actually decline a request made of him.
He communicates primarily with physical gestures, usually hand gestures. Girls seem to find him cute (in a "little brother" kind of way) but they frighten him, so he's especially wary of them. He is the person that remains invisible to others, even without trying, noticed only when one knows to actually look for him.
The only child of a Pureblood father and Half Mother of Garuda descent.
Kage's childhood was quite fulfilling. He was taught to hunt by his mother, and his father taught him how to use magic. Both were upstanding, virtuous citizens who were members of an enforcement group that spent time keeping the peace all across Willrarv, which had them travelling about frequently, though they made their home in Rindhallow. His parents instilled in him a sense of justice, teaching him to look out for and help others whenever he could, as being virtuous would lead to a bright life. This held true for Kage, until his 9th birthday.
A group of criminals had been taken down by the enforcement group, though a small number had escaped. Rather than hide and run scared, they had managed to track down two members of the enforcement group, Kage's parents. What should have been a happy day was turned into a nightmare, as the child had to watch his beloved parents get murdered right in front of him. The criminals had taken them by surprise, overwhelming his parents. His father's last act was to hide his son with the fusion spell Hoti Vayu Hoti Chandra. It was by pure luck that he wasn't discovered hiding in the pantry of their kitchen, after the spell wore off with the caster's death. He had emerged from his hiding place, to be greeted by the blood all around the house. He didn't know how to react, or what to do, so he just sat there, having gathered together the pieces of his parents. He didn't even blink a single time that night, staring, hoping that they would come back to life somehow. It was when his parents friends from their group came over to see him, that he finally realized that they weren't going to come back.
It turned out that the neighbors had heard commotion from the house, but not a single one had even thought to check on them. His parents had helped all of them out on multiple occasions, asking for nothing in return. They all realized something was wrong, but nobody had any intention of even trying to help. At the funeral, they all claimed to be sad, even though they might have been able to save his parents if they'd done something. He wasn't angry, as he couldn't fault them. Not when he had done nothing but cry and watch from safety. Another couple with the enforcement group took Kage under their roof in Eloth, however he was miserable. It wasn't even a week in, when he had run away. Using and refining the skills taught by his parents, he struggled to survive, yet made it on his own. Of course, this kind of life saw his social skills plummet miserably.
He experienced many things, and was hired for various jobs, sleeping outside in nature rather than in a "safe" city. He took the Magic Exam, passing with a score good enough to earn a B-rank License, just so he wouldn't be bothered while entering and exiting cities. As time passed, he found that he could recall less and less of his parents. Until one day, he simply forgot. He couldn't even remember the names of his parents, much less their faces. All he remembered was a couple that foolishly believed in helping others, and were killed like animals for that very reason. The one thing that he could take away from that, was that there was no reward to be found in helping others for free, because at the end of the day, everyone is out for themselves.
Kage had been and felt alone every day of his life, at least the days he could really remember. He felt it might be Willrarv itself that made him feel this way. By chance, he heard about the group going to Carte, from someone he had worked a job with. Hoping he might be able to change even a little bit, and become stronger, he decided to join up and travel to the foreign planet.
